Star Wars Outlaws6
Jun 8, 2026
After finishing the game in 42 hours, I have mixed feelings.
Pros:
- Gameplay is stealth heavy, but overall it's fun - you can go in all guns blazing if you wish
- Spaceship combat was good
- Wide variety of places to explore, Tatoonie in particular was great
Overall the shoot outs, exploration & spaceship/speeder access saved the game and did make the 40 hours fun for the most part
Cons:
- The story is absolute trash & all the characters are awful. Not a single one has anything interesting to say, no character development at all
- The snow planet was just a city, it would have been dope to speeder around glaciers so massive miss here
- No exp from killing enemies, the abilities/achievements section was alright but no depth to customize character
- Food minigame was so pointless, truly a microcosm of how vapid both the game and wider society is
- All the cantinas/cities were identical. Why make them all grungy and ugly, could they not have added some real "diversity" of affluent to poor city sections?
- Speaking of diversity, part of what made Star Wars great was the galaxy was human heavy (so it felt familiar) but had a wide range of aliens (adding to the exoticness). Here it felt like there were 100s of Rodians, Quarrens, Sulustan so all of these aliens lost their exotic tinge and felt annoying af. Another wider society reflection I suppose Having recently replayed KOTOR I & II, it's incredibly how awful the story and characters in Star Wars have become, the instigators of destroying this great franchise should be swinging from lampshades. In conclusion, play the game for some Star Wars themed fun while covering your eyes/ears to how truly awful the story & characters are.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A9

I was initially put off by the negative reviews but eventually decided to give it a crack. Overall very impressed, recommend the expansion as well
Positives: dynamic battles are a lot of fun, exploration and customization quite good, many hours in post game shiny hunting which is far easier than other games
Cons: standard Pokemon story so terrible, should have included countryside around the city

Dragon Age: The Veilguard2

Having been a huge fan of the series, this is by far the worst addition for numerous reasons.
Positives:
Gameplay - is fun depending on the class. Thus far I've found rogue to be the best. Warrior was decent, mage was rubbish - no spamming spells but waiting on cool downs while doing p*ss weak staff attacks. Visuals - Nice overall
Negatives:
Exploration - linear maps which don't indicate levels well, exploring is overall a chore versus being fun
Characters - Overall awful, I skip all the dialogue. DEI has reduced them all to vapid simpletons. Being able to romance all of them makes it further meaningless
Skills -require either a cool down or "energy", not enough "diversity" in playstyles since they put too much into the characters. Skill tree is bad, especially for
Specialisations - way less impact than past games,it's essentially base class with a certain skill
Story - since dialogue is bad I've mostly been skipping it, I'd say some of the blight back story is alright but since the game is overly dramatic and cataclysmic, it will be hard to make a good direction for the series. I remember DA2 got a lot of hate, but in retrospect it was x10 better than this one. Only recommend buying for <$15

+ Colourful, pretty open world
+ Engaging, fast paced combat.
+ Character, armour and weapons look nice
+ Puzzles are varied and challenging
+ Exploration is fun
+ Skill and general leveling is simple but varied
- The "humour" and cutscenes in general are terrible, been skipping them all
Overall been enjoying this a lot, perfect game to casually play while listening to podcasts.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance9

When I first bought this game many years ago, I gave up after a few hours since it was laggy on the old Xbox, lockpicking was impossible and combat confusing. Recently I decided to give it another go and glad I did. The start is extremely difficult but as you learn the mechanics and Henry levels up, it becomes very enjoyable and rewarding. Combat and archery are still painful but the quests, game world and realism more than make up for it.

Dragon's Dogma 210
Jan 3, 2025
Having played Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen last year (and loved every aspect of it), I was hopeful for this one - and 40 hours in it's amazing!
World - It's huge and a lot of fun to just explore, one can spend hours exploring and stumbling into hidden areas. Fast travel is difficult which adds to the challenge, as you need to think and prep prior to leaving town
Vocations - Played 7 and they've all been a lot of fun, even warrior which was the worst in DD1. Likewise each boss battle is different as you'll either snipe as a ranger, climb/stab as a thief, spellcast etc. Since you change vocation so often the combat always feels fresh
Quests - a lot wider assortment than the 1st, many of which are timed which adds to the urgency and fun. Overall I'm loving the game, excited for future DLC

Mass Effect: Andromeda8

I tried to play this game years ago and gave up after 10 minutes, thought it was unplayable. I decided to give it another crack recently and have far better views. If comparing it to the original trilogy, it's a 5/10. But if seen as a separate game, then it's overall fun. Breaking it down further:
Pros
- Combat is more fluid with the jetpack giving you upward and sideward mobility, hence a good upgrade to the standard cover & shoot
- The new Mako is much more fun to drive around
- The R&D for weapon/armor development is a nice addition
- Leveling up any skills means you're not locked into one class the entire game so adds more flexibility to your playthrough
- Cinematic videos are nice to watch
Cons:
- All the companions ****, the Asari is the only one with half the personality of the originals companions from ME1-3
- The dialogue in general is boring, some super weird Krogan voices. New aliens are also meh
- Due to the above reasons, I just listen to podcasts while playing hence am barely following the story In conclusion, a fun game with forgettable story, dialogue & characters. But the saving graces it does have gives me hope for a future ME4.
