A wrong choice again! Seemingly better and a little more sophisticated than any conventional movie about a guest who having come into an apparently welcoming ambiance and finding himself to be up **** creek without a paddle, nevertheless miraculously escapes skipping from one cliché to another. As it's often the case with the movies of this kind, it gives a lot of expectations at the beginning but doesn't live up to them to the end. "No, no" - I kept telling myself - "it's certainly NOT THIS kind of a movie! It seems too subtle, too intelligent, with all this decent acting, plausible characters, camera work and so on and so on, it seems to be too good to be THIS KIND of a movie. It would be too simple, too stupid if all this is only about that a lovely ambiance is, in fact, not lovely but lethal and all those nice people are not nice at all but, in fact, dangerous maniacs, psychopaths, cannibals, rippers, crazy surgeons an so on..." "No, no" - I kept telling myself when the movie waddled into its second half and some alarming signs began appearing more and more persistently, suggesting that maybe once again I'd put a little more optimism in my anticipations than premises actually required... In short - yes, IT IS this kind of a movie - standard and unimaginative. My recommendation is to stay away from it!

It's dull and pointless! What interest could be in such a game? There is no real choice and so no real challenge! People just are victims acting under threat, it doesn't make any intrigue! "13 Beloved" and its remake "13 Sins" - both are underappreciated - are much better, to say nothing about "The Game". THIS one is not about a game, it's about crazy and disgusting psychopaths taking pleasure in killing and torturing, and who on top don't look much interesting and much realistic! There is nothing here that looks much interesting and/or realistic!

It seems, there exists a plot against this movie, I don't know why but many people are up in arms about it. I'd watched it the second time to check my feelings - everything's OK with the movie, something's wrong with the people. You know, the same people who give "Valerian" lowest grades on the reason that movie's plot is not enough cohesive and actors are not good enough, gives "10" to "Noah" and "Jupiter Ascending"! The same people who give "Valerian" lowest grade on the base that its plot is poorly written, highly appreciate "Jurassic World". People who hate "Valerian" for the reason that its story is underwhelming, give "9" to 'Spider-Man: Homecoming". People who call it "an epic pile of crap" appreciate instead "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Fantastic Beasts"... And so on! It has no meaning, no logic, no sense at all! It's a pure hatred, nothing more, and I ask why?!!Why as soon as something outstanding and worth mentioning appears in the mainstream, there emerges a hoard of detractors who instantly begin slinging mud at it? Yes, it's a pure entertainment but it's absolutely good as an entertainment. You know, it's not about CGIs, it's all about talent and imagination and how we use them. What does it teach us? To enjoy and value the life, of course, what else? I truly liked it and I sincerely thank Luc Besson for making a good engaging movie where he somehow contrived to avoid some standard stale and hollow issues that now seem almost unavoidable, e.g.: social and family values theme, clerical propaganda, good people organizing for the struggle against bad authorities, hyper-muscled superheroes saving the world, super-villains with super-powers, static talking heads lost in endless dialogs intended to somehow patch holes in a plot etc. And my special thanks to Luc for engaging for the leading roles actors, not "stars"! You know, not Tom Cruise or something of that kind! 7.5/10

It's interesting, how Todd Solondz speaking about ordinary things in an ordinary way can make them look somehow unordinary and subtle. Interesting enough!... Or maybe not, maybe it's all about our wrong perception - when we force a deep meaning and clever irony on things where they weren't implied at all, the same way as the spectators at the test screening falsely laugh at the Scooby's image, probably in an artificial effort to distance themselves from their own image in the mirror! To me, this movie stays rather on the good side but not high enough. In the essence, it's only a little more than just a depressing movie about depressive people!... Well, a good depressing movie.

Another highly overrated bungled flick. I think, even Charles Chaplin in "Modern Times" depicted machines more accurately! You say, "piercing the snow"? But after 18 years of snowfall, the snow would be dozens meters deep, not a couple of inches! You say it's an allegory for society? Then what society exactly? There is no such society and never was and never could be, because such society would be absolutely unsustainable and counter-productive! It doesn't make any sense at all! What are all these people on the train doing - I mean, usually, when not rebelling and not taking rebels down? What are they eating - I mean, where do all this stuff come from, including insects? Why there are no windows in unprivileged cars? Why no reading, no gaming, no singing? Is it banned? Why? The train never stops, as far as I understand, why so? Why it's always sunny outdoor? It's sunny and it's still bitterly cold winter! Just something exploded eighteen years ago and now we have a beautiful lovely sunny winter! Brilliant! There is not a single touch with the reality! No knowledge, no science, no plausibility, no realism, only thousands of "why" and not a single sustainable "because"! But yes, the beginning was rather promising plus a couple of tense moments... Tilda Swinton was maybe funny, the polar bear wasn't so bad (a single plausible creature in the whole movie, by the way)... So, to sum this up, I think 05/10 would be generous enough, it's not a "must-watch" by no means!

A total disaster! Done as a spin-off of a successful franchise for exclusively commercial purposes, this film could at least contain a tiny bit of something, except the worn-out clichés and a set of annoying CGI that lacks even a shadow of a shadow of imagination... But no, it doesn't! Too dull and mournful for a child, it's absolutely shallow and rudimentary for an adult! An absolute waste of money, time, energy, celluloid, fabrics, wooden sticks, lipsticks, whatever... The bright side of it - yes, I still know a couple of movies even worse than this one.

Just another quasi-intellectual highly overrated flick. Here, I strongly disagree with the common opinion - it's too dull, too confusing, too monotonous, too unintelligible, too amateurish to be considered somewhat exceptional. If you are looking for some intelligent and tense movie about time travel with all its immanent complications and paradoxes, please, consider instead "Timecrimes", it has everything "Primer" lacks. Seriously, I find it ridiculous to overpraise movie only because it's cheap. Well, cheap it is and so what?...

Can a movie be extremely violent and extremely tiresome at the same time? Yes, it can, "The World of Kanako" maybe is the best prove. Except buckets of artificial blood, I found there nothing. Seriously, I'm not a goody-goody and can fully enjoy the violence on the screen, Takeshi Kitano is one of my favorite filmmakers by the way! I enjoy the violence in movies... but there must be something besides it - whatever it may be - a plot, a humor, relations, clashes of characters, art, drama, events, nature, imagination, intrigue, contemplation, beauty, feelings, suspense and so on. Yet here... there is nothing but an endless yelling, beating, killing, stabbing, crashing, crushing, slapping, wounding, bullying, humiliating, mutilating, beating again, smashing, torturing, shooting, kicking, cutting and so forth... And all this without even a single interesting dialogue! It's not even dramatic because there is no character we can feel the smallest compassion for. The story line always skips to and fro in time, the film editing is disgusting, most scenes are poorly staged and poorly shot, just something is flickering in the half-dark, something violent, of course, what else!... Seriously, there are a lot of better movies worth to spend your time on! Or just watch crime news reports, in case you are SO BENT ON BLOOD AND VIOLENCE!

For about the first thirty minutes you may have an impression, watching (at last!) something good - not quite original, but something tense, gory and intriguing... Then you begin doubting it... Then you know, you were wrong. Utterly wrong! The last ten minutes are probably the worst shots in the cinema ever made - just imagine a dark screen with smallest variations... Monotonous, dull, predictable, not imaginative; to the end, it spoils everything good it had at the start. Not worth to be seen.

Obvious, tedious, overstretched, exploitative, self-repeating, too standard by all means, considered in the top of war movies probably by some tricky magic. The single good feature is how the local nature exposed through the outdoor shooting, but it's hardly an excuse for an almost three-hour flick. Seriously, better search for some National Geographic documentary on Solomon Islands or some intelligent documentary on WWII .

Gorgeous! A brilliant satire on the modern society. I'm really happy to have seen at last something genuine and truly funny at once. A real gem, for all who esteem a good dark comedy and not alien to traditional values.

Honestly, I didn't understand why the movie's rating is so shamelessly high. For me, it looks like some sort of conspiracy. Maybe there is something in it, just something. Some rare bits of merit: some professionalism displayed in costumes, makeup, even in camerawork sometimes. Nor an inspiration, neither an ingenuity, just some professionalism. Maybe the casting is not so bad, maybe even acting isn't so awful, maybe the general idea is also rather promising. But... But somehow it happened that what we have in the issue is a complete fail. Why? It's inconsistent, improbable, childish, naive, impostrous and silly. To mention only this mythical cruel voracious homicidal highly dangerous and destructive tribe which in reality hardly could survive at all, at least for more than a couple of weeks if its members behaved in a way they are doing in this movie. Whatever their aims are, it seems, they are always choosing the most idiotic way to achieve them as possible. When they are geekishly jumping from the bushes on point blank gun shooting - what we supposed to presume in such moments? That they were hiding and waiting there for a long long time just to do... this? Why? Are they so hungry? They don't look emaciated however and maybe it worth for them to try something else besides humans? Just for a change... Seriously, this and other peculiarities prevent the movie from being taking seriously but not make it enough stupid for all that, they just don't reach the hilarious level of stupidity. What a pity!

The rumor was - the movie is stupid. I checked it myself and - yes it's stupid. And you know what, I always considered the way to describe a movie as "just stupid" rather stupid. But here one hardly can add anything more. It is not hilariously stupid, not ingeniously or inventively stupid, not shockingly stupid, not candidly stupid, not purposefully stupid, not casually stupid, not outrageously stupid, not elaborately stupid, not blatantly stupid, not aggressively stupid, not pattern-breakingly stupid, not terribly stupid, not provocatively stupid, not even utterly stupid... It's just stupid.

It's like Gremlins, but only not funny, not at all. Well, maybe just a little at the ending. Even Keanu Reeves wasn't enough humiliated for my taste, I am not his admirer and in my humble opinion he deserves worse than that. So, I am not much impressed, Hard Candy was way better than this.
