Stand-out Lovecraftian horror game where the oil rig setting is about as much a character as the suriviving workers. Some creative and terrifying creature design and some genuinely tense moments mixed with a fair bit of character drama. Unfortunately its not very long and likely finished within 2-3 hours at most. By the end I felt like there couldve been much more added to the game given the unique premise.
An absolute triumph of AA development of an established property. Truly a worthwhile passion project to any fan of the Robocop franchise. While clearly made on a smaller budget, it delivers a well crafted first person, story driven shooter that encapsulates both the day-in-the-life aspects of Robocop as well as retouching on familiar themes and characters from the movies. At times the game's pacing slows considerably to pad the playtime with sideline quests and various police duties. But by the time you reach the end, you will have wished it wasnt over quite yet. Most of the surprisingly charming characters are pretty dated and stiff looking apart from Robocop himself who looks and sounds immaculate with the help of a returning Peter Weller to voice. Yet I found most of the decent sized environments to be fairly beautifully realized and memorable such as the gritty, urban streets of Detroit or a chaotic, fiery, prison riot. You'll likely spend up to 30-40 hours if you go through every secondary objective but the experience system allows for you to boost your skills for a more dynamic New Game Plus if you want to see all the game has to offer. Its surprising how many 80's franchises are getting the gilded video game treatment such as Alien Isolation or Indiana Jones, and while those boast a higher production value, Robocop Rogue City delivers where it counts.
