What was that? The Super Mario Galaxy adaptation does little justice to the game. Every moment with Peach, Roselina or Yoshi is well spirited. Everyone else is obnoxious. Fox didn't have any action even for 10 seconds to show off his moves. This movie is relentless and painful to look at. If they are setting up a Smash Bros movie someday, they could've expanded upon Mario and Fox's relationship. I just don't feel this movie captured the magic of the game. The users are way off on this one.

The Last Jedi is a bold and spectacle driven instalment that I wish more blockbusters would be like. It's on the right track in terms of narrative and excels as a piece of entertainment. It doesn't all the way deliver as a continuation of the story. Characterizations are lacking in particular for Finn, Snoke and Luke. The film also ends with an emphasis on symbolism rather than character. This isn't a dead end for the trilogy. The heavy-handed back-and-forth storytelling can be effective relative to its set pieces. Finn using the force, Snoke being more frightening and Luke having better motivation beyond his failure to be in exile would've helped. The positives correlate to Rey and Kylo. Their arc is accelerated by these 2 characters coming together faster than I expected and it makes the movie. A lot of unexpected elements uplift this film. It's just not going to satisfy you if you are looking for a more engrossing serious energy that was more prevalent in The Force Awakens.
