This "game" is mostly cut scenes, you can either skip them or listen and watch bad writting spoken poorly with long pauses for animations that add nothing. While some drama takes time to unfold, making a line delivery or scene take a lot of time doesn't automatically add Drama. The highschool level writting and voice acting don't help. Watching them became so insufferable that I had to just skip them all. However, more than half the game is talking to people - which is slightly less insufferable since after I read the dialog I can skip to the next line but without watching the cut scenes (looking at other people's vaction photos is more interesting) there's no context so there's no point to any of that. The combat isn't bad but it's "Cinematic" so EVERY time you play a card there's this 2-5 second wind up and then some strike animation. It's ok the first time you do it, but after the 15th time I was really annoyed by it. ENOUGH ALREADY! Why do I have to sit there and watch Iron man do this crap every time? Just shoot the bolts of light after I confirm it and be done with it. The card use is kinda interesting, so I played through the First boss but just couldn't take how slow everything is. **** is going to play itself, it should do so quickly. And preferably in an interesting way. If I could run the whole game at 4-5x I think it would be worth spending an afternoon or two on. But the whole thing is as exciting as waiting at the DMV.

This is another Mevis Beacon teaches typing, but worse since the word crawls are SO Slow. I don't care how fast other people read, playing this game is torture. If I have no options, why do I even have to click anything? There's nothing to detect, but your patience for waiting . WTF do I need to wait for 10 seconds for an upload? I have the actual internet for that BS. Why can't I scrub video and audio files immediately. It's like one of those games designed to make you play outside the refund window by adding pointless bloat. No thanks.

Garbage. First off, what's with all the long walks for no reason? Do I really need to run for 30 seconds on a bridge before you blow it up and I have to go the other way? Just blow it up right away, stop wasting my time with pointless running. Second, the speed I want text to appear on screen is instant. Third, I don't need 3 dialog boxes seizing the control away from me that I have to click maddly through because you decided to display it at a speed of a 3rd grader with english as a second language. It's not nessessary. Also, I'm sorry I died be cause your camera is bad. And why is the fall 20 seconds? It must be so I can contemplate how much longer I can play before I ask for a refund. Really cool artwork though, that's worth 2 points.

It's very linear and it's mostly just flipping switches. And it's not a puzzle game really, there's nothing to think about. My brain was off the whole time, and the dialog is really slow. The story isn't terrible but it isn't good and I really didn't care at the end despite saving everyone with the best outcome - but I did keep going till I got there. Like memento it tries to trick you into thinking it's good by playing the movie geographically instead of in time sequence. Or rather, because you move so slowly I just watched all the movies from a particular room across the week of movies and then moved on. That mostly worked and it was mostly as boring as it sounds. The game is very forgettable and there really isn't that much choice. The dialog is /mostly/ the same no matter what you pick if that dialog stays in the timeline. If you have to spend money on it you'd be better off just watching a Drama on HBO. Plus you'd get months of viewing pleasure out of that. The game wasn't so bad that it angered me however. And reminds me of fishing in WoW. I mean, you can do it. I'm not sure how much you're "playing" though. And it's not objectionable, but it's not rewarding or really that interesting either. The point seems to be that you're not doing anything really, but you are here so click this button every 2 minutes. The first time you boot up the game go get a cup of tea, none of that ever comes up again, and it isn't interesting.

It's Dragon's Quest. Art is really good, but you don't actually do anything. So far as I can tell there is never an indication of what you should do, which is odd since all you can do is go right left, jump, and grab, or occasionally swim. Do you run out into the head lights or not? Sometimes you do. So pick one at random. If it doesn't work, do it again and pick the other one. Now run to the right. The wall in front is too high, run back the other way. Is it a cliff - leap of faith. Were you not supposed to leap of faith /this/ time? Then pick another thing at random to do. And on and on, long bouts of running and then interacting with one object in a scripted way or walking in a specified way. That's the game. There's only ever one option. How do the designers want you to interact with it? That's not a puzzle and that's not strategy. I submit it's just stupid. It's like a two piece jigsaw "puzzle" that you're trying to put together blindfolded. Have the user keep his mouse in this circle, that could be your next game. It's a cool senior CS game design project I admit, but you should've given it away not charged $20.00 for it (though I did get it on Game pass). So I played some of what should have been your short film and participated just as much. Might as well have written a text adventure that's just pushing "X" at regular intervals.

Starfield3

This game is a heavily polished turd. It's Skyrim in space, but not as good - All glitz and no **** you want to spend your time doing pointless crap that isn't fun? That's Starfield.I quit playing about 4 days in at level 50 (~**** you want to play a space game (sim) and spend a lot of time and have at least some fun occasionally? That's X3 & X4. And probably the Dyson Sphere Project.Rarely have I taken screenshots in any other game so I job done on the whole "NASApunk" visual language. But my praise for the game ends here.Starfield suffers from a common problem in game design these days. It seems the "powers that be" track "time played" as a metric for game success, but instead of making the core gameplay loop fun - so you spend a lot of time in the game having fun - the game just wastes your time while not being fun.Inventory management is horrible. I fixed this near the end with a console command to set my personal inventory to the weight of my Starship's cargo capacity + Companion capacity purely for a quality of life fix. Researching is super unfun and resource intense.Outposts are a game function created entirely by a fool who heard about Factorio or "the dyson sphere program" but never played, studied, or paid any attention to them at all. Let me save you some time: You first should have access to helium, iron, and aluminum - plus Beryllium if you can help it. There's a moon you can do this on a planet between Alpha Centauri and Sam's homeworld. Your second outpost should be on the planet that moon orbits for copper, and your Third should be in the Vega system for titanium. Good lord is it impossible to find a planet you can build on for titanium, I just saved you 5-7 hours of searching. I'm not joking.Although, once you do all that, you'll have all the money you are willing to grind for. But I have 900,000 credits and there is nothing anywhere to buy. Ship parts "skill" gated, and vendors only sell trash. Why can't I put a LS1 crate engine in my project car? Because I'm not actually Henry Ford. Ford makes & sells them, just not to me or my mechanic. Dumb.Quests: Most quests are gofer quests. Faction quests are dumb (Yes I played them all). I didn't give a damn about their narrative, which is not fun. Playing them was not fun. And the whole point of the quest seems to be running around and wasting your time, REALLY not fun. Delete this game.Areas:There are a few cool areas, but there are only a handfull of unique areas and they are copy pasted to every instance. There's one gas plant, one deep mine, once base. Fun the first two times you run into them but Everything is the same everywhere. DaggerFall did it much better. Diablo 2 did it **** as a bad faith joke somehow there are no maps to any of these identical places.NPCs:Fully 20% of vendors have a 3-4 layer deep chatting decision tree about how they don't want to talk to you and are just there to sell you things. REALLY? THEN WHY ALL THE DIALOG? **** and buy my Tau Stats.Companions are all G rated tools who break up with you at the drop of a hat. You're not going to raid a Gal Bank with me Sam? You just gave me 30 lines of dialog about how you hated them. Sara, you said you wouldn't judge my methods as long as I got results. I'm the Starchild, I'm getting results. WTAF?Also, I don't care about the Companions. They're mostly annoying and stupid. And if one should leave my playthrough it wouldn't affect me at all. Other than to realise how I never cared about them because they were poorly written.Guards teleport in when I do bad things.I fast travel directly to the planetary police when smuggling. WHY?Economy:There isn't one.I need to pay 90% the price of a shop I stole to "register". Such that at level 40 any decent gun I find sells for more than most ships. In fact the guns I find in the ship are worth more than the ship. Also, you need to do a ton of level gated unlocks (piloting) just to steal a ship. Really stupid. The designers are Jerks.Leveling:I've destroyed 100s of ships but just upgraded pilot, why can't I upgrade pilot again until destroyed 10 more ships? Level gate one way or the other. Not both. In fact raise the requirements and get rid of the level locks entirely, kill 50 ships get pilot level 2. Levels are kinda silly anyway. There's almost no utility to skills until you get to the highest tier. Gunplay:It's bad. There's no excuse in 2023 for bad gunplay anymore. It's a known problem and it's been solved.Magic:The powers are dumb. I forgot to use them and when I did they were dumb. Also, unlocking them takes like 5 minutes of stupid flying around in pointlessness. I admit it was cool once, making me do it everytime just made me ignore all the magic quests. Do you want to spend 20 minutes doing pointless crap that isn't fun? That's Starfield.
