I played the arcade cabinet-version, but like H2Overdrive, I found this game incredibly fun and exciting! I never knew there was a jet-powered boat racing game before these two games, but when I played them, I was hooked! Sadly they seem to only have been cabinet only arcade games, so this is the only version I’ve been able to play or find since.

An amazing racing game for the PS2! While it may not seem like much at first, this game was unique in that it had damage modes and physics! Hitting walls or other racers could rip off hoods, bumpers, side skirts, or even the paneling of the car itself! You could then hit the debris on later LAPD damaging your car further! In addition, there is multiple gamemodes, such as arena modes with “hot potato” with the classic timed bomb, or a free-for-all or team deathmatch where the last cars standing win. Nitrous can be used in most races or gamemodes to deal more damage to cars or simply move faster and take less damage. You can play multiplayer with this game, and at one point it was apparently possible to play online multiplayer! Though I never got to experience this myself, LAN play was always fun!

Easily one of the best PlayStation 2 games ever. Even today it still holds a candle to games such as mariokart. This game even did transitions from land to water before marioKart! While it may be outdated, the level designs, sheer variance of RC carts and boats leave this game entertaining just as much today as it was back then! In addition, power ups are unique to the idea of the cars actually being RC, and as such are often energy based. But this isn’t always the case, as some vehicles have secret functions only they can use! While my favorite levels are the boat racing levels, another feature you may not expect from such an old game is a decently customizable track editor! While there’s not much to decorate it with, the customizability of it was very fun for multiplayer at the time! Finally, a lot of levels had challenges or reverse mode, which was also fun when playing against other people. A very fun game with many cool levels based in worlds, such as a Hollywood monster world, pirates world, loonytoons world (acclaim studios), or sci-fi and horror worlds! One of the few PS2 games I have and occasionally play to this day.

One of the best PS2 games ever made. Me and my friends played it for hours, often doing crazy stunts or breaking the game in strange ways.

A legendary game that was so fun and entertaining, it spawned multiple sequels. The developer was so good at making it, it even spawned countless mods and fan remakes. In addition, one of the few games where DLC was released after launch, for free! This effectively added a significant amount of content to the game for nothing, and further boosted it into the popularity it once had. Easily one of the best strategy games to exist, specifically in the “space” genre.

A very good game that fits a fast-paced roguelike style, but more for casual play with elements of staying still, but only as long as it’s safe to do so. This game works excellently on the steamdeck, and so that’s where I played it. I have to say it’s buggy at some times, but in the end it’s an amazing game that scratches the same itch as games like FTL do!

An amazing game that will make you binge it for hours. The scenery is beautiful, the story is entertaining, and the gameplay is extremely unique but simple in theory… but hard to actually accomplish in practice. The objective is simple… reverse engineer entire languages with nothing but texts or speech. Simple, right? Maybe not, but it wouldn’t be a fun challenge if it were! But don’t be dismayed, as the game won’t leave you hopeless for long. Moving on is often the best choicefor figuring outwords, and backtracking often requires. Somehow, this is never boring though, as while doing so, you will be instead learning new languages in the game’s world, how they work, and how the context of words is done. If nothing else, you can make an educated guess at certain points of the game, and the game will confirm if they are correct, so you will never be stuck for very long. In conclusion, a beautiful casual game to relax to, while also being fun and investing, that will make you think about it when you’re not playing! And as a bonus, works extremely well on the steamdeck!

A legendarily great game that does what all games should… tell a story and do it well. An amazing adventure-story game with a first-person exploration mechanics. From the very start your mission is simple… find out what happened to the crew… and how they died. But this task is not nearly as easy as it seems, as you must accurately determine who each body belongs to… and exactly how they died, from what, and by who if necessary. Without spoiling the story, it can only be said to get better and more bizarre as it goes on! A must-play if you love murder-mystery games, stylized games, thinking games, or want a casual game in general to play with an excellent story!

A once great game that has fallen from grace. How could it have fallen so far when cheaters were once the greatest threat, but now instead cheating bots have infested the game to such an extent? They have virtually ruined the game, and yet, Valve does nothing. The only time valve ever moved to do anything was when it got so bad that bots were spamming racism in chat, which got news media attention. (Their solution was to disable chatting for all new players…) Now something even worse than that may be brewing, and yet… nothing. I wonder how far it would have to go before Valve finally does something? If cheating means nothing to them, will it take actual crimes being committed in voice chat to move them to actually fix the problem? This is a sad, yet very real possibility that seems to slowly be coming true… sad to see such a legendary game either and die like this.

It’s Minecraft, what do you expect? Though such an amazing game probably got to where it is today because of its “infinite replayability,” which is what I like to call games that have a fundamental ability to never trygo stale or boring. There’s always something you can do in it, even if that something is installing mods, which if we’re being honest, I’d probablywhy Minecraft became what it is today. Without mods, Minecraft may never have become the #1 game in the world.

One of the best games I’ve ever played. It has two main gamemodes, a very interesting campaign and precinct assault (territorial control). Both can be played in multiplayer mode! The movement is difficult to master, but very rewarding, and the weaponry is awesome. I’ve spent many hours in this game, even rivaling the playtime of many of my Steam games. You can customize your mech, and even find secret loadouts hidden in each campaign level. There are even classic cheat codes and secret levels as well, uncooked by beating the game, or found online. It’s even fully voice acted in both campaign and PVE. (where applicable) And the sound effects are very often good for the time it was made. One of the best PS2 games ever. (Backwards compatible, but requires a PS1 memory card to save) Personally I think it’s worth playing for the territorial control mode alone, as the AI “Sky captain” is a fun AI opponent to go against, and in this gamemode your objective is to capture the enemy base with tanks, jet-copters, flying fortresses, and dreadnought tanks, while capturing neutral turrets and outposts.
