Tekken 78
Sep 29, 2017
Gameplay wise, Tekken 7 is arguably the best fighting game ever made. It's rather complex when compared to other fighters, but the time needed to dig in starts paying off quickly. The satisfaction you get when you execute a difficult air combo on your opponent is unmatched, the flow of the fights is perfectly balanced and graphics are top notch. Unfortunately, Tekken 7 loses a point for the terrible online service and the dumb decision to not penalize people who leave a game in ranked play (thus denying you a win, another dumb design choice) and another point for the lack of any relevant singleplayer content. Story mode is there, sure, but when Blazblue offers dozens of hours of story content at half the price we can easily question Bandai for it's low-effort campaign.

inFamous: Second Son5
Sep 29, 2017
One of the most mediocre games of all time. The combat is extremely repetitive, considering that all 4 powers actually use the same offensive principles: shooting projectiles. This makes the game feel more like a third person shooter without guns than a superhero / supervillain game. Storywise, Infamous is dumb and dull, lacking any thought-provoking ideas. It may have been a pretty game in 2014, but the developers clearly couldn't manage to properly use the power of PS4 at that time.

NieR: Automata10
Sep 29, 2017
Nier: Automata is probably the smartest game of this generation. With philosophical themes such as existentialism transposed into artificial intelligence, it makes sure to challenge ideas that we already know from authors like Jean-Paul Sartre, Friedrich Nietzsche or Franz Kafka.

Cuphead9
Sep 29, 2017
Cuphead's biggest achievement is actually feeling unique and original, although being one of the oldest genres of games. For me the only thing that keeps it from being a 10/10 is the lack of a meaningful progression system like other platformers such as the Megaman X series.

Overwatch4
Sep 29, 2017
If Overwatch had costed $20, it could have been a decent 7/10 game. With only a few multiplayer game modes, even fewer maps and no singleplayer campaign whatsoever, it feels more like a lazy scam from Blizzard than a love-crafted game. The terrible matchmaking and lack of progression system don't help either and all of this culminates with a ridiculously luck based trophy list to encourage boosting in online play which ruins the game for both trophy hunters and other players.

The Last of Us Remastered10
Sep 29, 2017
The Last of Us is probably the only game which really made me care about it's characters. Joel and Ellie are arguably the most humanly authentic video game heroes of all time and for that Naughty Dog deserves all the praise they get.

Horizon Zero Dawn8
Sep 29, 2017
Horizon: Zero Dawn is a solid 8/10 for me. Stunning scenery almost makes you forget about the terrible facial animations. Great enemy design and attack patterns almost makes you forget about the generic and repetitive combat. Extremely interesting and complex plot almost makes you forget about the needlessly boring side quests and their dull characters. Almost...
