time limit. unoriginal quests. world ends regardless. worst ff ever. squeenix tried to squeeze more money out of player base and fans. AVOID You absolutely NEED a guide for the "good" ending or to find a particular enemy. Also, some enemies are invincible.

Tales of Zestiria2
Jul 21, 2016
After playing the game for about 15 hours, I gave up on it. Here's why: Story, Main component of ANY RPG. Bland, repetitive and unoriginal. It felt new at first, then, it fell into the mold of some other RPG's. Can't exactly point which because the story felt over used and forgettable. It never hooked me in, which is a huge part of any rpg. Graphics, the only "salvageable" thing about the game. it still felt like I was playing some old 90's game though. Nothing impressive. Exploration felt lackluster and unrewarding. Battle System. While the addition of the fusion mode made it fairly new, it still felt old and outdated. Be either Overpowered or underpowered. Music and Voices. I always set up to listen to Japanese voices, as their are far superior to the cartoonish english voices. Intro was okay-ish, but, nothing good either. Other mechanics, Gear progression is very stupid and unoriginal. It felt like some outdated and badly made mmorpg. "level" gear by fusing it with other gear of the same name until it reaches a certain level, then you can morph it into the "next level". Am I back in Blade and Soul?! I have to say, gear progression is the single and most stupidly BORING decision for a jrpg EVER. The grindy nature of the game felt like a mmo... without the "rewards". Overall experience, Lackluster is the word for this game. Story is easy to guess. Characters are cliched and could see events coming miles away, therefore, no twists in the story that or nothing I couldn't see coming. Main character is forgettable, lacks resolve or a motive to do something aside from wanting to explore ruins, for a person supposed to save the world, exploring ruins feels... moronic. All in all, this game doesn't feel like any Tales of... game. Get something better or wait and see if Berseria improves.

Grandia10
Aug 25, 2015
Grandia in a word is: Excellent. New gamers may think the story drags or is too long. BUT! that's how a RPG is supposed to be, you know. Do not confuse story telling with the game dragging. From beginning to end, this is one of my favorite games on the PSX. A real RPG game, not like the current games that focuses too much on "fan service" leaving everything else aside. "New RPG's" should learn from this. Can't really complain about anything. Progression, leveling, enemy encounters, every single thing is just amazingly done. Can't find a single fault. 11 out of 10.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea0
May 9, 2015
Not a real rpg. That's my first thought. the mechanics and game in general are... weird. Explains nothing and brings nothing new. An uninteresting game in a trilogy I'd prefer to think never existed. All 3 games are from worse to bad. This being bad. Not acceptable to have to pay top price for a low end BAD game that can brick your console. AVOID. 0/10 score.

Xenoblade Chronicles5
Apr 29, 2015
Xenoblade for Wii was a pleasant surprise and a very good and interesting game. For the 3DS, not so much. Slapping the fact that you cannot play this in a "old" 3DS console, and that you need to buy the "new" 3DS console just so you can play this game is a demerit. Seems more of a money grab than any other thing. And no, I'm not going to waste 230+taxes dollar on a "new" console that won't come with a charger while having to sell my "old" console. Then, buy this game... yeah... NO.

Boring, repetitive, large amount of characters (this works against the game because it wants to introduce every single character) bland "rpg" style with stupid way to do "combos", bland story that tries to get every single character on board without a really good story. definitely not recommended.

In one word: OUTSTANDING. This IS a true classic game. I cannot find any flaw whatsoever. Story, Characters, Music (to this day I still listen to the opening song from time to time), battle mechanics, animation, character growth, robots, graphics, etc. Everything is just awesome. if you haven't played this game, go and play it! It is highly addictive, it is fun. This is how games should be!

Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland0
Dec 15, 2014
Breaking down the parts of the game to understand why the game ****. Story: Zero originality, cliched story about a useless girl attempting to do alchemy and succeeding. Many endings, but, as nonsensical as they come. The story didn't got me interested. I felt more of a chore to complete the tasks and even I felt bored while playing. 0/10 points in this department. Graphics: While they look nice, I do not like the way they were done and how they were used more for giving fan service. 0/10 Music: I'll be honest, I didn't listen to the intro at all... boring music and boring intro. 0/10 Characters: The heroine is bland, boring and cliched. While some have quirks they quickly fall into pre established cliches. 0/10 Overall: This game started the descent of the series into degenerating into games released only to please otakus or people that like fan service. I will deny that the Atelier Iris ever came to Ps3 and continue to state that the GOOD Atelier Iris games stopped at Mana Khemia 2.

Mana Khemia 2: Fall of Alchemy10
Nov 15, 2014
The very best Mana Khemia / Atelier Iris game EVER. Incredible replay value with the different endings system being refined, TWO stories at the price of one game, fun and interesting side stories, interesting and fun characters, this game has it all. And sadly, the very last GOOD Atelier Iris game, as any other for ps3 is just garbage. This is the very best JRPG for Ps2.

Amazing game, with even better story than the other 2 previous games, and, even better than the ps3 ones. Back when this game was announced, I decided to pre-order it. And I was not disappointed. A very good addition to any RPG fan out there. Has a very good story, characters, battle system, synthesis mechanics, everything that the current ps3 games lack.

Atelier Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny9
Nov 15, 2014
The very reason I became an Atelier Iris fan. Good and Interesting story. The second entry in the Atelier Iris game, it is certainly more interesting than new games in ps3. Has two focuses and, by far, is more interesting than escha and logy. Synthesis and Battle, the two later unite in the story, even though it's not two stories, it has more of these elements than the ps3 one. Overall, a very decent game for Ps2. Interesting and very well done story.

Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana9
Nov 15, 2014
The very first Atelier Iris game I ever played, has everything the recent games lack. Interesting Story, characters and battle mechanics. Back when I first played this game, I thought it was something very original. Unlike any other RPG, and yet, I still believe is one of the best RPG's in the ps2 era. Why it is underrated is beyond me. A solid game to replay.

Compile heart, or, as I call it, Compile rehash. scenarios are rehashed, enemies from other games are here, fan service and characters that follow a certain predefined path or rule as to how they act. The declaration of "true jrpg" should be taken back, they do not know what JRPG means While I agree that the story is good, that is the sole reason this game gets a 5, alongside with japanese voices and anime like intro. Aside from that, it's nothing special, battle is repetitive and boring. The way to get the "true ending" is always the same, from any other game they release. Bottom line is, wait for a price drop. This game is only for fans of previous games from compile rehash.

Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord10
Nov 13, 2014
Outstanding. In a single word, that's how I would describe the game. This comes as testament that games do not need high end graphics to be good.. So, let's review why this game is actually underrated by metacritic reviewers. First, Story: The most important aspect of ANY RPG. This game performs better in setting the story. Granted, has a lengthy intro, but, I didn't mind it. In fact, I quite enjoyed it. More so than other games that feel completely stupid or do hand holding 90% of the game. Second, Music: Fitting and welcomed. Every melody is perfectly arranged and suits the moment of the game, to the point I forgot I was playing a game. Third, voices: Japanese voices are sometimes better acted than english voices, as most of the times, english dubs felt more like the people was reading the script, rather than acting. Fourth, Combat: Somewhat of a drag at first, after playing it a little, it becomes easy to figure. Final Verdict: Go and buy the game. If you enjoy classic true JRPG, then, you will definitely enjoy Tears to Tiara II, as this game is now considered a classic by me.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel3
Nov 2, 2014
Borderlands the pre-sequel, it's a clear statement from 2K, it's just more borderlands with different story and a different set of characters. Telling the story of how Handsome Jack became what he was in Borderlands 2. While the story was somewhat good, I can't help but notice plot holes, not going to mention them, but, there are. Now, on to the discussion of why such a low score. First, it's a much shorter game than Borderlands 2, that includes the world and the pain that is moving trough many maps without a fast travel station nearby. Second, stupid side missions, nonsensical and downright stupid side missions are back. Third, weapons, many of the "legendary" or orange weapons are back, and while they do say that there are millions upon millions of weapons, at the end of the day, you will just want the rarest weapons. Fourth, story, while it was somehow new of how the story was being told, it would have been better if the character you choose did some narration or had a special ending, not told by drawings. Everything is centered on Athena, even if you do not choose her as your character. Fifth, ending (no spoilers), this game was released with content that may as well could have been dlc for borderlands 2. Also, I can't help but feel that this game only existence is to mention yet another borderlands game coming at some point in the future. Bottom line is, don't pay full price, wait for a special sale with all the dlc (that will come) at a better price of ... $5 dollars, that's what this game is worth anyways.

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition4
Aug 31, 2014
As someone that bought Diablo 3 (vanilla) I'm rather disappointed in blizzard. It seems repetitive of them, always giving the gamer whatever they want when they want and conditioning how we play. For starters, the Reaper of Souls "expansion" offers way less than the expansion for Diablo 2 offered, second, no more "introductions" for creating new heroes, third, rather anti-climatic and one way ending. the story bit seems a lot rushed and doesn't explain correctly many points and questions raised, but, effectively opens the door for a sequel... -sigh- let's just hope the next one isn't as bad as this one.

Only for fans. That's the sad truth of this game. And even then, only Hardcore Fans will find this game suitable to their tastes. As it is quite difficult to do anything. Earn money, "macca" is so difficult that you need the DLC to grind money, and even then, it's not a mission that can be done early in the game, you have to advance quite a bit to be able to beat the enemies that drop the items to sell. leveling up is also difficult, and there's DLC for it as well. And for app points as well. Seems like you can circumvent the difficulty of the game after you play for well over 10 hours. Leveling to 10 or 20 isn't easy. As even level 1 demons can kill your level 14 special fusion demon. Kind of ... weird, considering it is an RPG where being high level should yield more damage against low level enemies and the low level enemies doing less damage to you, which isn't true in this game. defeating an enemy 1 level ahead of you isn't going to give a lot of experience, as it should, it all depends on where in the cave you are. And you are told to grind for levels everywhere you can, which is kind of boring, after doing so more than 3 times in two floors apart from where you started. The above points will no doubt make new players of the series stop playing completely, as a single demon with multi strike can kill off the entire party, even at full health, if you are caught by surprise. Those points prove that only die hard fans or hardcore fans will stick with the game and finish it.

After playing the game for a long time, I decided to drop the game. The game has many flaws that become apparent once you start playing. While everything seems new and with great ideas, it is poorly done. Enemies take way too long to beat and follow a certain pattern. By no means that makes the battle easy, as a slight recolored enemy means another pattern to discover. Story is original and very well done, there's character growth and the animation in general is good. But, that's it. Maps are huge, but, you will never see either enemies on map or npc's. it's just the character "running" to some place. And here is where the game seems rather rushed, enganging battles should not take more than 5 minutes, or the game will feel rather bland. Scenarios aren't that good, if there was some more interaction, it would be better. Music isn't good and there's no option for Japanese voices, plus, the lip sync wasn't done good enough, as some characters keep moving the lips but there's no sound. Some characters follow the norm and are somewhat interesting, but, after a while, there's no motivation to continue playing, as events become foreseeable. all in all, the game feels both rushed and lacking

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles5
Mar 29, 2014
Mixed, at best. the GC one, Symphonia, was good and had a good ending... couldn't see why a continuation would make sense and was actually being not too trusting, because, continuation often fails, see all the continuations that already exists in RPG games, more to the point, FF. But, the continuation for Wii was actually good... to me. Many thought it was pointless or even bad. I'm not a die hard fan of the Tales of series of games, I only play them to enjoy and have fun. So... why a 5? Easy. This particular edition has many problems, frame rate and loading times. for a Ps3 game that is unforgivable, since the Ps3 is obviously better than the GC. And yet, the game suffers from them, meaning, Namco did nothing to this game... aside from porting it. Which isn't good enough. Especially if they want full price for a direct port of a Ps2 game. Advice? Stick with the GC one.
