Warrior (2019)

Warrior still knows how to pack a punch.

Even with a few too many subplots, a dynamite ending strips all this away to make the journey a striking one. At the same time as Warrior Season 3 keeps you entertained, there are plenty of moments where it takes a pause to reflect on all the tumult and the toll it has taken on the characters.

"Warrior," to put it simply, kicks ass. If you've been sleeping on this series, get on board with the knowledge that the show only gets better in its third season.

Topmost, Warrior is a good time, satisfying anyone who appreciates intricate fight choreography that emphasizes the physicality of its actors. ... At the same time, the show grants the same level of agency and ferocious, dangerous nature to its women as it does the men.

Warrior has its charms and much like a Chinese “Peaky Blinders” or “Gangs of New York,” it’s best when it leans into mankind’s reaction to corruption and injustice.

The possibility of a weekly fight scene with The Raid's Joe Taslim could make this show a Friday-night success, but the freshman drama is hit-or-miss so far. It's the Rockstar Games version of history. [3/10 May 2019, p.79]

It takes itself way too seriously, the dialogue is deadly flat, and the characters just aren’t interesting.

"Warrior" looks like "Gangs of New York" and "Peaky Blinders": the same setting, racism, sexism, corruption, political intrigue and bloody showdowns, the formation of freedom and democracy. Most importantly, there is Bruce Lee and incredible fights. This is awesome.

started out great and a good show. It's to bad season 2 and 3 are more focused on lesbian relationships then continuing the story. Also becoming very men are stupid women are smart its so modern day its killing the story.

The action is quite good (I mean, not realistic, full of long-winded jump kicks and showy moves, but in line with traditional kung fu movies). The actors are good, but the omnipresent stupid feminism and historical revisionism sort of kills the immersion. Not everything was run by women, and yes, they **** in hand to hand combat because they are weak compared to men. There, I said it.

This is a hard watch, it's so wrong in so many ways. It follows the pretty lame recent trend in shows to have a period piece with 21st century American cultural values. It just doesn't work. The Chinese mafia guys act and talk like copies of cheap Italian mafia movie guys and is just ridiculous. You have the the main guy who has just sailed over from China gets given a **** and doesn't **** her because he does not **** girls who don't have a choice - please get a grasp of reality of the 18th or 21st centuries. You have a head **** who is able to cut off guys heads with one stroke. Another chick who married to some guy in China and complains about him **** her - please **** in marriage is a hard sell now but was not even a concept 200 years ago. I also didn't realise shaved **** were so popular in that time. To top it all off the dialogue is pure amateur hour stuff, it's so bad it's cringe worthy.

I doubt seriously that a show filled with F-bombs, Chinese gangsters acting like Italian mobsters, lots of nudity and current year politics is what Bruce Lee had in mind. Very. Seriously. Doubt. It. Have you people never seen Bruce Lee/Jacki Chan/Jet Li/Donnie Yen before? Lol these fight scenes are nothing compared to Chinese cinema.
