The Graboids, and their offspring the Shriekers and Ass-Blasters, have overrun the valley but are on the government's protected species list. The locals are (barely) allowed to live there rather then leave their homes, as ... Read More

Tremors: The Series may surprise you. It's silly, but some of these scares do make you jump. And when the smart shines through, it's fun. [23 Mar 2003, p.03]

A good-humored, good-natured adventure in monsteriana. [28 Mar 2003, p.E-5]

It's greasy, it's cheesy, it's a big heapin' platter of B-movie hokum. Now if only Tremors: The Series were as much clever fun as "Tremors," the witty, wild 'n' woolly 1990 monster flick it was inspired by. But it's not. Not even close. [28 Mar 2003, p.6D]

Newsday
The herky-jerky camera work whenever it appears to shake barns or gobble up an off-road vehicle only calls attention to the fact that this is a cheaper production. And the human cast gathered around Gross is sorely lacking in the quirkiness that made the original ensemble so much fun. The new gang wouldn't be out of place in a Gap commercial. And yet ... there is something about the kitschy graboid and the hydra-like cluster of smaller worms that erupt from its mouth that's both laughably ludicrous and primordially unnerving. With "Tremors," the special effects have always been cheap and the appeal, such as it is, came from the campy humor, particularly concerning the Burt Gummer character. But the TV series, from the same creators and writers as the movies, mostly plays it straight. There's some humor, but suspense is the primary vibe in the first two episodes. [Mar 28, 2003, p.37]

Gone are the wit, the entertaining twists on sci-fi films and actors (outside of Gross) who knew they were doing a sendup of the genre. And the special effects are so cheesy that it looks as if the series cost about $1.95 to make...It's hard to believe that Sci Fi canceled the fine "Farscape" to put this series on the air. Terrible...Tremors isn't funny, scary or suspenseful. It isn't even one of those shows that's so bad it's fun. It's just bad. [27 Mar 2003, p.C04]
