Each weekly episode of The Night Manager will feel too short. But the pleasure is so great that we should probably thank AMC for letting it stretch out over six weeks.

Season 2 evokes the same sense of watching actors at the top of their game as they volley dramatics back and forth like tennis, and that almost justifies the season's existence.

Brilliant on every level: Casting, acting, directing, production values, score, and above all, writing. I'd loved the John le Carre novel and never thought a TV series could do it justice. I was so wrong: The series is even better.

Subtle plotline. Great Characters. Very solid pacing. Le Carre' imprinting provided a wonderful narrative arc and very firm structure. Loved it!

Everything in the season gets better in the second half — especially Calva, who initially comes across as a hunky-but-wan Roper substitute but eventually turns that apparent failing into the arc of a comprehensibly vulnerable performance. From the cast, only the wasting of Colman and Varma feels irritating.

This is great stuff. And, at just six episodes, it's a great length.

[The Night Manager] makes the most of some gorgeous spots. Viewers, however, may find themselves anticipating the plot. Hiddleston is the draw and the catch. With a less capable lead, this story would only be mildly interesting. ... He proves here he’s ready to serve her majesty’s secret service and then some.

The Night Manager is a treat. ... For all its locations, the storytelling canvas is somehow small. And there are some ludicrous plot holes and twists which nudge the The Night Manager in a campy Bond direction. But it never strays near comedy, which makes the six episodes pretty much a nonstop fear-fest.

The Night Manager goes down easy as a glamorous procedural, but its conventionality grows narcotizing.

Very impressive screenplay pairs beautifully with the excellent cast and a level of production that adds a cinematic style and quality to the proceedings. Hugh Laurie delivers a stand out performance as Roper here. Shows like this are a great example of how a long form TV series format can add flesh to the bones of a blink and you'll miss it 2 hour movie. Exceptional stuff here.

The whole series seems a bit convoluted and an international slog. .What is the main character’s real name? What is his motivation? Who cares? Hollander also seems very diminutive in his role.

My score would be higher as the first season warranted a 9 as it was nearly perfect, yet the second season is so atrocious it brings the score down to merely average. A shame truly as le Carré's work deserves far better.

Well as a starter i am egyptian , and i didn't pull past the 1st episode as there is too many atrocities adressing egypt , cairo or egyptians . 1st of all this was not shot at egypt , 2nd almost all the actors used for egyptian characters were arabs but not egyptians , 3rd they talked arabic but in a foreign dialect , there was no egyptian dialect at all , 4th why are you adding (y) to the end of arab names ?! , all the names used are not egyptian ????!!!!! Even one of the hotel residents asked for coffee he brought her tea ????!!!!! So if you are watching this for just fun go ahead , but if you think this is accurate or resemble the truth or egypt it doesn't .
