The Killing

So far, so great.

The series is excellent, absorbing and addictive. When each episode ends, you long for the next--a hallmark of great dramas.

Sharply contrasting with the florid Borgias is AMC's emotionally spare and atmospherically dank series The Killing.

It relies on excellent work from Enos as the dark, damaged Linden and Kinnaman as the slightly lighter Holder to carry us along even when the plot seems to be stagnating.

It's more subtly, and more forcefully too, a quest for understanding, specifically an understanding of how the world works.

The muddled and recurrently tedious Larsen case, littered with irrelevant conspiracy-theory subplots (what the hell is up with Holder's AA "sponsor"?) render The Killing a mystery show whose mysteries agitate and bore rather than mesmerize and astound.

It's not nearly as highbrow and well-constructed as it needs to be, and it's far too serious and plodding to be a zippy break from reality.

Voici le remake de la série danoise aux Etats-Unis, du copié-collé sans vergogne et sans âme… d’autant que la talenteuse et jolie actrice danoise a été remplacée par un thon qui a la fraîcheur d’une endive périmée… sans parler de son collègue qui a l’air d’un junkie demeuré. Entre violons et jeu de fausses pistes, bavardages à n’en plus finir, brassage de vide et tempête dans un verre d’eau tiède, cette série se révèle très vite ultra-chiante et ultra-banale sur un rythme de tortue qui fait passer les Columbo pour des thrillers passionnants. Pour roupiller rapidement devant la télé, c’est une daube de série idéale, donc !
