Suits LA benefits from strong performances by Amell and Davis, but Korsh’s strong sense of banter and character, which made the original Suits such a sucess, is what really makes this spinoff worth watching.

This is bad TV as addictive as semi-warm pizza or a post-pub kebab. Objectively, it is awful. But goodness, it goes down easily, and there is the bonus of it never taking itself seriously.

If this show can shuck off its tiresome flashbacks as well as its more ridiculous twists (viewers who reach the end of the pilot will have no question as to what at least one of them might be), there could be something watchable here. But Suits fans hoping for a West Coast-flavored edition may struggle to find here what they enjoyed before.

“Suits LA” is flat and joyless.

Aside from Erica, and an occasional good Ted Black moment (Amell has the cadence and the jawline), the banter wilts more than it zings. Without it, Suits LA is just convoluted plot and unrealistically alert lawyers – maybe baseline entertaining, but not sexy. Without it – after three episodes, at least – this spinoff is just business.

Yes, the dialogue is stilted and almost exclusively exposition. Sure, the supporting cast is as bland as a Dodger Dog and the stages as prosaic as Dodger Stadium. But a solid central character can get you to look past all that, and Ted is too one-note, too unpleasant, and too damn angry to encourage our investment.

“Suits: LA” is dumb. .... This is a show that asks you to please turn off your brain before viewing and let the whole thing wash over you like a warm bath. It’s pleasant enough, soothing even. But you better bring your own things to think about because it offers nothing more.

As a huge fan of the original Suits, I went in with high expectations (and maybe a bit of skepticism), but honestly, this spinoff surprised me in the best way. It doesn't try to be a carbon copy of the OG series, and that's exactly why it works for me. Stephen Amell as Ted Black is the standout here—he nails that confident, sharp, no-nonsense lawyer energy that echoes Harvey Specter without feeling like a cheap imitation. Ted's got his own baggage (the flashbacks to his NY prosecutor days and the bomb incident add real depth and stakes), and Amell brings a grounded intensity that's perfect for the darker, more personal tone of the show. He's magnetic on screen, carrying the episodes with charisma and vulnerability when it counts. If you're drawn to Amell like I am (post-Arrow and Heels), this is him in his element—tailored suits, quick wit, and moral gray areas that make you root for him even when he's bending rules. The plot is what hooked me most. It dives into Hollywood entertainment law—celebrity scandals, high-stakes deals, mergers gone wrong—with the same fast-paced, twisty case-of-the-week structure as the original, but it feels fresh in LA. There are genuine surprises (that first-episode twist had me pausing to process), layered mysteries from Ted's past, and ensemble dynamics that build nicely over time. The firm drama, rivalries, and personal betrayals keep the momentum going, and it ramps up in the back half with some emotional payoffs that hit harder than I expected. Gabriel Macht's Harvey cameo was a nice nod without overshadowing the new story. Sure, it doesn't have the same breezy banter or effortless cool of early Suits seasons—it's moodier, more serialized, and the humor is drier—but that's not a flaw for me; it's a deliberate shift that fits the West Coast vibe and Ted's character. The supporting cast (Lex Scott Davis, Bryan Greenberg, Josh McDermitt) grows on you, and the writing from Aaron Korsh keeps that signature legal maneuvering sharp. Compared to the original, it's not as instantly addictive or quotable, but it stands on its own as a solid legal drama with heart, intrigue, and a lead who carries it effortlessly. For fans of the OG who want more of that world without a straight retread, this delivers. I binged it and wished it had gotten a second season—definitely worth watching if you're into Amell or the Suits formula. 8/10, strong recommend. I just wished this show was given the chance to continue on instead of being cancelled.

Okay let' be honest, the mighty "SUITS" having a reboot, in one way you don't want to replace that world and in another way you want to create something as beautiful or something comparable. Why does everything happen in the Pilot itself, the pilot is supposed to act like a hook to reel the audience in to the world you've created. Forgive me if this looks like a Rant, but I grew up watching SUITS, and to taint my nostalgia like this is not good. The interactions and the introductions which come across are so fast lived, it felt like all the characters were in a hurry to create something remarkable but somehow through their own enthusiasm lost sense of where they were going. I would've rated it lesser but since this is the start of an adventure, I want to see how this thing develops.

Boring, all over the place and wooden and uncharismatic Stephen Amell is SO unlikable.
