SummaryEight years later, Parker (Beth Riesgraf), Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane), and Alec Hardison (Aldis Hodge) bring Sophie Devereaux (Gina Bellman) back into the fold and add corporate attorney Harry Wilson (Noah Wyle) and Hardison's foster sister Breanna Casey (Aleyse Shannon) to the crew as they take down corrupt people and organizations.

Something about the energy and storytelling flags in the final two of the season’s 10 episodes, but it’s a minor quibble. I can’t express how satisfying it is to watch a television show that doesn’t pretend we have to accept that systems are permanently rigged and we’re all doomed.

This third batch of Leverage: Redemption doesn’t get too into the nitty gritty with the individual characters as much as it did before. It’s more of an all killer, no filler season.

A great show that we are so happy it was brought back. They are like our family. Thanks to Dean Devlin and IMDb and the great writers. Thank you Christian, Gina, Beth, Aldis, Noah and Aleyse for the wonderful characters you brought to life.

A huge surfing wave of nostalgic anticipation lifted me when I saw the return of "Leverage"! This wave buoyed me up thru the pilot and second episode. I wanted to give Noah Wyle a chance to fill Timothy Hutton's shoes, but he wasn't stepping up. Then this pathetic punk caricature of Hardison steps in to replace him. They might limp along without one original character, but two? Now they're crawling on hands and knees. By episode six, they're crawling on their bellies. I started to remember how the final seasons of the original "Leverage" had lost their focus and saw that the eight-year hiatus had made their vision even blurrier. It's like "Librarians", only without the grit and drama. A feeble cartoon version of the best days of the original show. I see that it is being offered in two eight episode servings. I doubt I'll bother with Part 2.

“Leverage” is first and foremost frothy entertainment. ... Only three episodes were provided to critics, so it’s possible that as the season goes on, the team’s ambitions deepen. As it is, their targets in the first few episodes are fantastical.

Like the original, “Leverage: Redemption” works best if you don’t think too deeply about any of it, but instead allow the show’s jaunty confidence and loose playfulness wash over you.

Each disguise, exaggerated accent, and gadget serves a purpose. It’s undoubtedly a formula, but one that continues to work, thanks in great part to a spirited cast that acts like a found family, on and offscreen.

Suffice to say the performances are not great even from those who you would expect to be on point. The charm of the original was the easy rapport among the leads; that’s missing in this go round. Thankfully the series does improve with each passing episode. The pilot is the most awkward.

“Leverage” creator Dean Devlin (“Independence Day”) and showrunner Kate Rorick (Devlin’s “Librarians” series) keep things breezy yet eventful in each episode. Efforts to build any character out past two dimensions are less successful, no doubt because no one’s really trying.

They got rid of nate and Hardison and added an old guy and a teen girl who fake cries and gives cringe speeches about not condemning people for who they love. What in the liberal hell is this? You brought back leverage only to ruin it. Every episode has it's moments but I was only able to make it through 6 before my gag reflex kicked in and I had to go.
