Its endless searching can prove frustrating at times, particularly when the sci-fi drama stumbles over basic flaws in its storytelling. But those with enough curiosity and patience to wait out its rough patches — and those with a taste for cerebral sci-fi — may find themselves falling under its plaintive spell.

The heady slow burn of its first few episodes is a balm compared to the hectic, expository-heavy ones that follow and get bogged down in the kind of messianic plotting that’s sure to give Battlestar Galactica fans a bit of painful deja vu.

Yet again the "critics" and I disagree, shocker. Sure the story can get convoluted -its a damn mystery. The acting from every cast member is fantastic. The sets and the effects had some decent budget along with it too. Love the lovecraftian story in space theme, along with the closed circle story every episode. Don't listen to the critics, this is damn good show!

Meh. This show had potential, but there was not enough story and way too much weird camera work. There definitely wasn’t enough story for the slow pacing. Like a lot of modern shows/movies, they didn’t have much story and they tried to stretch it out with fluff and exceedingly slow pacing. Almost every episode felt like 20 minutes stretched into 45. And whatever they were going for with the weird camera work failed miserable. It was just annoying and stupid. But I will give the show credit for not being a sequel, a prequel or a remake, not being about superheroes from comics and adequate acting.

Ultimately, Beacon 23 is unmoored in a way that is scattered as opposed to truly mysterious, a series without a shining beacon of its own to head toward.

Following a promising first few episodes that demonstrated compelling tensions between its cast and was elevated by a great performance from Lena Headey, Beacon 23 fell apart at the seams.

Convoluted plot. Dark (I mean the lighting). Nothing exciting. The botox in Lena Headey's lips is ugly and distracting (I ask, who would mutilate themselves this way?). After the 3rd episode I lost interest, which is rare for me and Science Fiction. We'd rate this: "if you've got anything better to do then find something else, otherwise go ahead and watch."

If you first read or listen to the original (Released Oct.2015) book, you will find an epic story that, in comparison to this mini series (one season fling), has you peering into the mind of a tormented man. For those of us who perform our jobs in remote regions of the world I have found this Hugh Howey book relatable. But, the television rendition carries with it all the attributes that appeal to what producers think people want to see, or maybe what producers want people to see. When I heard this was going to the screen I was elated but am now deeply disappointed. WHY Hugh Howey did you allow this **** of your work???

I was interested but it quickly turned out to be unwatchable.Actors are good, action is decent, the problem is the story suffers from severe ADHD. Every 5 minutes something new is happening, then dropped and forgotten to start something else. I reached Barfwin point by the third episode. Not even fastforwarding can save this
