This raunchy unrooting of a settled suburban idyll exposes the considerable angst of emerging adulthood with a kind of scatological fervor designed to elicit oodles of inappropriate laughs. It succeeds.
Great laugh-out-loud comedy. Laughs all the way through. All of the cast are stellar. Rogen and Efron have great chemistry and the supporting cast of Dave Franco, Rose Byrne and newcomer Jerrod Carmichael really impress and help to offer more great laughs. 10/10
Efron makes you believe he’s capable of anything. Neighbors is rude, brazen and merrily offensive, and the movie mines the homoerotic undertones of fraternities to fine (if lowbrow) comic effect. But Efron, of all people, gives the film a curious edge.
Trouble is, Neighbors rarely exploits its generational war of attrition for big laughs or true insight. And despite a couple of puerile gags, it often feels as domesticated (and fatigued) as its main characters.
New parents Mac and Kelly Radner are worried that with the new responsibility of being parents all of their good times are at an end. When a fraternity moves in next door things get a crazy. A back and forth battle for the neighborhood starts that the Radners use to bring their lives some new excitement. Crazy antics, well polished humor, and near-perfect comedic timing make this an absolute laugh riot. The real strength of it is how this whole scenario feels like it could actually take place. The characters are believable thanks to the entire fantastic cast. Efron in particular is enjoyable just because this is something that you might not expect to see him in. The best part about it is that the trailers didn't spoil all of the funny parts. The whole movie is hilarious. Admittedly you do have to be a fan of r-rated comedies and Rogen's work. If you are then I see no reason why you wouldn't find this to be the laugh riot I did. So far I think it's the best comedy of this year. If you're looking for some laughs then I recommend you give this a shot. It's pretty much the perfect mix of goofy and raunchy humor. My total score for it is a 9.9/10.
Seth Rogen continues his comic tour of middle life, as a new father fighting the impending realization that youth culture has escaped him. The arrival of an all-hours-party fraternity in the vacant house next door hammers that point home, and when Rogen pulls the ultimate grown-up move (calling the cops at 4am) it ignites an escalating game of one-upsmanship with the chapter president (Zac Efron). Neighbors Is the very definition of one-note, like a ninety minute sketch from SNL, but at least it plays that key admirably. Rogen's usual mix of snarky one-liners, aging stoner tropes and gross-out payoffs are spread thick like a jar of Jiffy, but it all still feels applicable and he gets a lot of help from Rose Byrne in a hilarious supporting role as his let's-throw-down spouse. You'll get exactly what you expect to get, whether you appreciate these comic stylings or not. Myself, I'd lean more to the former. Light, but wickedly funny; don't go looking for much depth, but why are you looking for that here anyway?
Neighbors was been over rated by critics and viewers. The jokes are vulgar, not funny at all and the trailer spawl the few good one! The acting stays pretty nice but it's not sufficient to make a good movie!! I've waited that movie and it was disapointing...
I do not get whats so great about this movie . Seth rogen has been way funnier just see this is the **** premise was great but they should have gone more r rated or more animal house way
