The themes of the film are so resonant that they create an immediate connection with the audience, but producer/star Judd and writer/director Alec Tibaldi address them with sincerity but not much depth. The film is more about mood than insight.

Lazareth is sluggish, low-energy, and not particularly suspenseful, but most of all, it squanders a stellar Ashley Judd performance in a period where her silver screen appearances are becoming scarcer and scarcer.

It's not completely awful outside of some rough performances. Its like a **** The Last of Us and The Village crossover with no action or propelling narrative.

(Mauro Lanari) Survivalist home invasion, neo-rural, anti-institutional, or religiously sectarian considering Ashley Judd's leanings, also executive producer here. Either way, a terrible B movie.
