The Seattle Times
A not-bad entry in the Pinhead series Clive Barker started. [29 Oct 2002, p.E1]

Fans of the series may be disappointed to see so little of Barker's sadistic Cenobites, but while they're used sparingly, they're used to good effect.

Another Below Average Entry At this point I think it’s safe to say that Hellraiser is a zombie franchise which means it won’t end.

This is pretty cheesy. It feels like the first cash-in in the series. It’s pretty slow and boring with not much happening. It takes the dreams and visions concept from the previous film but it feels way cheaper and out-of-place. The pseudo-sexual angle adds nothing but titillation. This is pretty much the format of the film: something strange happens, turns out it’s not real, repeat. Apart from Pinhead it’s pretty much unrelated to all previous Hellraiser films in every way. The acting is pretty bad but the real issue is the horrible direction, the writing is nearly as much to blame too. Easily the worst in the series so far.

The A.V. Club
Hellseeker at least tries to work itself into the larger Hellraiser mythos by bringing back Ashley Laurence as Kirsty. But like Inferno, it falls so far short of its ambitions that only the most dedicated and generous fan could give it the benefit of the doubt.

Film Threat
Another unworthy follow-up to the modestly scary and well-crafted, Clive Barker-directed Hellraiser from 1987. Therefore with Hellrasier 6, lots of confusion and silly slasher joke writing is raised, but not much hell, in any sixth sense of the word.

Too many fake outs, a horrible protagonist, a lack of Pinhead, a messy script that originally wasn't Hellraiser, a terrible ending, and this film insults Kristy Cotton, the protagonist of the first two movies. Skip this ****.

You have two capable leads in Winters and Laurence but the story is such a recycle and fails to keep you interested. It's just flat out boring.

They are really scamming on these movies with the hellraiser name. One of the most disjointed plots I can ever remember. They are not definitely not skimping on the sex and general horniness. Every single woman that is on screen wants to bang the protagonist. I just want to be shown 1 character who is doing this 'Hellseeking' the title references.

Kirsty’s back! That’s right, Ashley Laurence returns to the Hellraiser franchise for a whole two minutes. And that’s one of the best things about this movie. The real protagonist is Trevor, who is Kirsty’s husband and an extremely boring character (although he is played by the actor who played the Vulture in Brooklyn Nine Nine, which I got a kick out of). But the thing is, I genuinely hate this movie. I have like two good things to say about Hellraiser: Hellseeker. First, Doug Bradley returns as Pinhead, and is good (while he’s on screen, which is about the same as Kirsty). The second is one scene in the climax is kind of cool. And that’s it. Rather than that, the acting is horrible, the special effects boring, the cinematography uninspired, the filmmaking lazy, the story barebones and a blatant ripoff of Hellraiser: Inferno and worst of all, it’s trashy. Hellraiser films are meant to be smart, the thinking man’s 80s slasher. Even in the weaker instalments, Hell on Earth and Bloodline, there was still an element of intelligence, but Hellseeker is complete trash exploitation. And that is the worst thing a Hellraiser film can be.
