Countdown

Countdown can never be taken seriously enough to work as a conventional horror thriller, and it’s never quite funny enough to be a great horror comedy. But it’s got just enough eccentricity and self-awareness to entertain despite those obvious deficiencies.

The movie arrives at an eye-roll inducing final twist, and hints at an inevitable sequel. But this app isn't exactly begging for an upgrade.

A pedestrian thriller whose personal-tech gimmick is even more thinly imagined than one might guess, it's a jumble of cheap jump scares made watchable by likable leads Elizabeth Lail and Jordan Calloway.

In Countdown, it’s the audience that really gets cheated.

If there’s an ethos that Justin Dec’s film believes in, it’s only that “death sucks.”

Rather than screaming for them to go the other way, you'll be urging them to accept fate and die instead.

Bombastically dumb new chiller that probably would have been called "Killer App" if that title hadn't already been used several times.

I liked this movie it was not groundbreaking at all but it was also not really as bad as everyone says

The death scenes and synomotography were good but the key of the scenario was not that strong and hard to understand.

(Mauro Lanari) Struggling with our own destiny in the Smart era, discovering that neither spirituality (the exorcist demonologist) nor technology (the millennial a bit geeky, a bit nerdy) are salvific. Amazing but true: original (!) variation on the theme, cast of TV provenance and yet up to it.

This is desperately unoriginal. At some points this is worse than a bad student film. At one point one actress asked the other “why are you acting so weird”, a stereotype in itself but all I could think was, “why aren't they acting?”. It reminds me of that atrocious sponsored YouTube movie I watched which thankfully I can't remember the name of and don’t look for it so you don’t accidentally watch any of it but this is actually a lot better than that atrocity. The only other film it reminds me of is maybe It Follows (2014) but this is nowhere near as smart or interesting. The only character I liked was the priest but even he was a bit annoying. The build up to the jump scares were sometimes good but the actual jumps badly done so wasted the suspense. This is not worth watching even if the finale has some excitement, the monster character doesn’t really fit the story and has a very unoriginal design.

So.. I decided to get drunk and watch a stupid horror movie last night and on that part, "Countdown" delivers. This was a piece of **** but I also fell asleep after an hour or so, so I re-watched the final act and: IT'S **** BAD
