Wildgate brings some new ideas, but still feels like a game that has already been released. The mixture brought out for this FPS leaves a strange taste in your mouth — a very familiar one, but that has something off with it.

While its pacing can be hit or miss due to its procedural map generation and unpredictable player behavior, Wildgate stands out amidst other PvPvE multiplayer offerings. Working with teammates to overcome challenging scenarios to unearth new equipment and upgrades for the spaceship is excellent, especially when it often culminates in larger-than-life dogfights that require every person to play a role, resulting in cinematic, often white-knuckle match-ups.

Wildgate did not hook me as hard as I thought it would. I thought it would be more of a ‘’Sea of Thieves in Space’’ type of game; however, Moonshot Studios tried to do something new. For what it’s worth, I think they did it, but the novelty quickly wore off with its PvPvE approach. The matches are fun only if you have a good crew with friendly players who are there for the fun of it and not to win at all costs.

I was pleasantly suprised. I did get it for free on Epic, so comparing it based on price is difficult for me. Now, onto actual gameplay. I expected something more Sea of Thieves / Elite Dangerous : Slow, methodical, designed for long sessions. The tutorial even highlighted that. When i got into a match with my boyfriend (Bot lobby, we weren't confident in a public lobby) we found out it was chaotic, agressive, and designed for 30/40 min sessions. The guns felt great, and the characters were different enough to eachother to be able to tell apart quickly. I do have an complain, but its easy to overlook based on the freshness of the game : The emptiness. Lobbies sometimes slowed to a crawl as our slow ship moved to a new POI. Maybe in the future we'll get an easier way of moving around ( A ship teleporter would be cool!). Highly recomend it.

Wildgate is the kind of chaos that only comes from tight design. It’s messy in all the right ways, and if you’ve got the crew, the headset, and the time to learn its rhythm, there’s nothing quite like it.

Wildgate stands out from the herd of live service games by offering gameplay inspired by various multiplayer classics, adding a layer of personality and originality. The gameplay loop is fun and addictive, but over time, it will need more content to maintain that sense of freshness.

This game needs some updates but I believe in the studio who made this. I see that they have some okay games on Steam, maybe a bit higher than okay in rating. Still, this game I saw was popular the first day on Steam. So, I bought it and supporters pack. I played and then I had a issue with being stuck in space as my team left me there to mine something. Anyways, this was not fun and so I got mad then I quit and refunded. I made sure to correct my negative review to a 5 star and made it positive again as it was at first. It's because i kinda was angry. It turned out that I love the concept and I would love to buy this again if the playerbase would grow. The game kinda started decently then it descended from the higher rankings almost right away. I give it a 10 to support it for the developers because I believe that this game has true potential.

Fantastic game that takes an emerging ship sim genre and expands it. The game is amazingly polished on launch in an industry awash in half baked early access releases. This game creates intense moments and devastating reversals that I haven't felt in gaming in years. It's like star trek and overwatch had a deranged roguelike pvepvp baby. While theres still room to improve in balance and gametypes this is a very strong release.

Wildgate feels like what you'd get if you mixed Overwatch with Sea of Thieves—a bold, chaotic fusion of hero-based teamwork and ship-to-ship space battles. It’s not without its flaws, but at its best, it delivers fun, frantic gameplay that thrives on cooperation. Space piracy mayhem at its finest.

In the end, Wildgate doesn’t try to hide what it is; what you see is what you get. If the trailer looks exciting to you then it’s really not that expensive to give a try. The PvP content can be quite intense and is really fun with a group of friends, but on the other hand the exploration and PvE combat is pretty shallow. One of the problems with space-focused games is that there’s a lot of room to travel but often very little to do, and Wildgate is no different once the initial appeal wears off. Thankfully, there is a roadmap that promises seasonal content drops and I do hope the developers are able to expand to game into something more.

An enjoyable experience that blends genres into a colorful and fun cocktail. While initial content seems to be a bit lacking, the foundations are absolutely solid: responsive movement, tight gunplay, polished settings and customization, enjoyable gameplay loop that rewards cooperation and offers some climactic clutch moments.
Shines when you have a regular squad to play with, but the single player experience was also a pleasant surprise for me so far - it reminds me of the early days of Helldivers 2 where you could just get matched with some nice strangers and have a good laugh on comms for the next half hour.
The progression system doesn't offer much after you unlock the ships and the playable characters, which doesn't take a lot of time tbh. I wouldn't mind if they added a weapon progression system as well later on.

Gameplay is fun.
But we need a pve mode that gives XP, ergo the vs KI mode should give Xp too.
Teamplay still needed, but without the toxic screamers if a newbie is in the group.
Or better give us a solo (with ki companion) mode. Even with reduced XP here.
