Voidborn is a roguelike, that starts out pretty great, but falls into mediocrity soon after. Unfortunately, there is simply not much variety to its combat. The upgrades are small marginal changes and seem to effect the overall gameplay quite similarly, it doesn't really matter with upgrade I chose. The ultimate ability seem to be trump card of the game, as it allows to output so much damage, it can remove one fifth of a bosses health instantly. While the shooting and movement felt good, the game simply lacks variety. The environments look samey and runs are barely different, due to the low number of rooms. A roguelike 2025 has to offer something more than this.
