While I wish that Splitgate 2 was a stronger, more confident evolution of the awesome concept presented in the first game, I can’t deny that I had some good fun just hopping in and shooting around for a few matches every night. Battle royale ultimately feels derivitave, but the modes I actually enjoed were able to scratch that FPS itch. I wish it was the kind of shooter that I could get completely lost in, but it’s not that. Still, it’s among the more interesting options in an arena shooter genre that’s pretty barren right now.
Splitgate 2 is trying to stand on its own, though it’s still a bit unsteady on its feet. It currently lacks game modes, ranked matches, and a broader variety of maps. Even so, it already delivers a fun shooter experience where mowing down opponents at a fast pace and tactically using portals is genuinely satisfying. It’ll take some time for the game to find its full identity, but its core gameplay is already rock-solid.
Splitgate 2 is a fine F2P time-waster, but its portals don't add much to the genre and its shooting is nothing special.

Overall, I’ve been having a great time with Splitgate 2. It brings back that classic Halo feel in the best way possible, with tight gunplay and smooth movement. The addition of portals adds a fun layer of strategy that makes it stand out from other arena **** UI could definitely use some refinement — it feels a bit clunky and unintuitive at times. But aside from that, the core gameplay is solid and surprisingly well-balanced.I also think the $5 battle pass is a fair price, especially for a free-to-play game. I really hope they keep it that way **** you’re a fan of old-school shooters with a modern edge, this is definitely worth checking out.

I will absolutely keep playing this and hope that the extortionate bundle deals are slimmed down price-wise and that the upcoming maps reintroduce some verticality, again. Beyond that and a pointless battle royale mode, it's easy to see that Slipgate 2 has managed to find its own groove despite basically just ripping off well-chosen parts from its competitors.

Splitgate 2 is in a a bit of a rough state and I feel as though people keep not giving it any grace. People keep just saying the game **** without giving any reasons why. In addition the dev team e is only about 200 people (probably less now due to the layoffs). The game has potential to be something great if you actually share your feedback with the devs. The devs also at the time that i am writing this said that they are going to focused polishing the game by fixing any outstanding bugs they still have.

Splitgate 2 offers solid, fast-paced gameplay and intelligently encourages team play. The portal mechanic rewards intelligent play and opens up possibilities not seen in other shooters. The large selection of game modes might spread its community a little too thin in the long run, and may dilute the game's identity too much. In order to keep players engaged for the long haul, there need to be more unlockables, upgrades, some form of measurable progress. The upcoming ranked mode is a step in the right direction, but it likely won't appeal to less-competitive users.

SplitGate 2 is, at best, a half-baked mix of better games. With a meager selection of classes, weak loadout variety, a forgettable battle royale mode, and even more battle pass slop, it’s a shooter that barely leaves an impression—let alone earns your time.

Splitgate 2 Review – The FPS Multiverse Has Evolved Splitgate 2 blasts onto the scene with jetpacks blazing and portals ripping through reality like never before. Building on the cult classic original, this sequel is a jaw-dropping fusion of arena shooter nostalgia and next-gen sci-fi chaos. The movement? Fluid like Quake. The gunplay? Tight like Halo. But the real star? The upgraded portal system—now faster, smarter, and even more tactical. Flanking has never felt this satisfying, and the possibilities for creative kills are infinite.Maps are brilliantly designed to amplify the mind-bending gameplay, with verticality and visibility tuned for maximum carnage. The art style leans deeper into neon-drenched cyberpunk, while the soundtrack pumps adrenaline like an IV drip of synth and metal.Customization is deep, progression is fair, and multiplayer is buttery smooth with near-zero latency thanks to revamped servers. Whether you’re a solo slayer or part of a sweaty squad, Splitgate 2 delivers high-octane, headshot-heavy action that never lets up. Splitgate 2 doesn’t just iterate—it innovates. It's the bold new face of arena shooters, and it absolutely rips.

Cool concept, gameplay is nice but unfortunately the insanely obvious and rampant cheating ruins the experience. Respawn design was clearly done by a 3 year old with no understanding of how online multiplayer FPS works as you are routinely ruined within 3-5 seconds of respawning, you can be shot through walls (Not just through portals), 1 hit by assault rifles from the other side of the map, the abuse of the game is beyond comprehension for 2025 and the devs really need to implement anti-cheat before this will go anywhere.

Couldnt stand it for more than 15min. The UI is awful. hard to read, I don't know how experienced studio could let this slide. There is no consistency with frames, buttons etc. Game have a lot of modes opened from the begining and I was completly lost. The gameplay itself felt rough also because of the map and poor distinction between enviro that you can interact with. I couldnt find solo player mode and was forced to play with team on both battle royale and arena. Perhaps someday I will try it again but not anytime soon. Shame as Irealy liked first part.
