A game that pushes VR’s boundaries. Strange, playful and committed to creativity, but intense if you're new to VR.

Bonelab is a near-perfect blend of sandbox and narrative gameplay that stretches the technical limits of the Quest 2. Its heavily physics-based gameplay is ground-breaking in many ways, offering ways for creative players to dispatch enemies like never before. Be warned, though, that this intense game isn't for the faint of heart or stomach and will make many people motion sick with its intense movements.

this is both the best game i've ever played and one of the most-mid. base game, the physics systems are quite groundbreaking, and the avatar system is really great too. however, the game doesn't use it's systems to the full potential in base game levels. it's predecessor, boneworks, had a much better campaign, with less to work with. the base game generally underdelivers. however, this game was very clearly made with mods in mind. the modding sdk and community for this game are truly what makes it special. the sdk allows anyone to do what the base game didnt, to fill in the gaps, and to just go so far. because of this, the game really really shines. it seriously is capable enough to last for many many years.

I have played Boneworks before and my first time playing Bonelab was on the Quest 2 during patch 1 of the game. I have since upgraded to PC last year. From release to patch 3, this game was horrible. Lots of bugs, no good mods, bad performance, just everything you would expect. The only thing that improved in patch 3 were the mods because the developers didn't bother to update the game for almost 2 years. But, from patch 4 and onward, this game is probably the best VR title to ever come out since Boneworks or Half Life Alyx. Almost ALL of the glitches and bugs have since been removed and I have never encountered one on the current patch, the graphics have been updated making the game look much better, the performance on both PC and quest has been significantly boosted because of the patch 4 update, the IK rig is good and barely needs any fixing (only problem is getting the punch to trigger is really difficult), and there are more working mods than ever before. If Bonelab and Stress Level Zero can keep releasing good updates without breaking something, I think Bonelab would be considered the best VR game anyone can buy until the next Stress Level Zero game is released.

Balance issues in combat and puzzles make Bonelab more of a physics playground with mod support than a well-done VR shooter.

Bonelab is similar to its predecessor in key ways—both the good and the bad. The game's physics driven world can be refreshingly immersive in the way that almost everything interacts together. But physics sometimes make the game less fun and even frustrating to play, especially when it comes to the game's many climbing segments. While there's lots on offer, including a campaign and several replayable mini-modes, they all suffer from the same core problems which is boring enemies with little variety, poor encounter & puzzle design, and bland weapons. In lieu of having those things provided for you, you'll have to extract your own fun by challenging yourself to execute stylish kills and physics-shenanigans with the game's all-you-can eat slo-mo feature. While the game repeats most of Boneworks key issues, this time around if offers proper modding support which could improve things significantly— that is... if the game's community is willing to spend the time building the toys this sandbox should have had from the start.

BONELAB is an incredibly interesting piece of tech with a terrible shooter holding it back. The physics barely work, the mechanics are cumbersome, and the puzzles are unintuitive and frustrating. There are a few moments where the combat can shine, but that’s not enough to make the game worth it.

Bonelab isn’t just a game—it’s a sandbox of pure creativity and chaos. From the moment you drop into its wild physics-driven world, you're given the power to do literally anything. Want to roleplay as a badass soldier, a fast-moving anime character, or even a giant? You can. Want to grab enemies, throw them across the room, or mess with realistic objects in any way you can imagine? Yep, that **** way Bonelab uses VR makes you feel like you’re truly there. The physics are next-level. Everything reacts the way you’d expect in real life, but with the added bonus of being totally unhinged. The modding community makes it even crazier—there are constantly new maps, avatars, and weapons dropping all the time, keeping the game feeling fresh and **** campaign mixes mystery, action, and just enough weirdness to keep you asking, "What the heck is going on?" in the best way possible. And when you finish that? The sandbox, parkour, arena, and user-created content will eat hours of your life—in a good **** you want a game that doesn’t hold your hand and gives you full control, Bonelab is it. It’s more than a game. It’s a VR experience playground that lets your imagination run wild.10/10, absolutely legendary.

A bit too easy, and a few too many bugs, and a short story are the few things that, if fixed, could make Bonelab the best VR game of all time, the ending rounds the entire game up quite well, and the whole things quite fun overrall.

The game's single player mode feels so off-puttingly boring to play. It's as soulless as it gets. It feels like there's so much wasted potential, cool graphics and environments that seem to have been thoroughly disrespected by whoever designed the game's pacing. It's like you get through a level and at the end you ask yourself "that's it?".

This is way buggier than BONEWORKS and shorter. It feels like quest ruined the game. It was rushed out with 4 hours of story at most and that is with utter confusion slowing me down. The only thing that can save this game is mods, performance updates and so on. I am afraid the updates will come too late and the mod support does not count. Reviews for a game should be based on what the Dev's made instead of what others made.

Just overhyped trash, buggy as hell. How do you make a game about mods and not include Steam Workshop? Also, for some reason there was no sound when I launched it. Don’t remember how I fixed it, but that was definitely on the devs.
