Season 15 of King of the Hill is as perfect a season of television as you could possibly want.

It doesn’t try to reinvent the movies (and novel) that came before, but there’s a lot to love here for both fans of the originals and newbies experiencing Cape Fear for the first time.

Nearly every episode contains fun and lighthearted moments but never strays far from a pervasive sense of melancholy. At times, especially in later episodes, the drama turns exceptionally dark. But such is real life, and the show never lets you forget that its characters are fully drawn and alive, warts and all.

It's not going to win a slew of Emmys, but the show grows richer and deeper in the new season and establishes itself as a quality show that kids and grownups can sit down and watch together.
