This game's core narrative is strong enough that it doesn't need the (in my opinion) out of place humor and mini games to stand out. Maybe the developers were just intended to pad out the relatively short run-time, but to me, those sequences do subtract something from the full dramatic tension. I can only imagine what this game could have been, had it leant on to its movie-like structure (even more), and didn't try so hard to be a "game". Maybe some classic B&W flashbacks instead of the minigames?! All that being said, I can appreciate this game, for its great dramatic beats, on top **** narrative arch, and I think it was worth the few hours I spent with it.

This War of Mine: Final Cut5

This IS kind of a rage-rating, and I'm doing it right after one of my characters died on day 30, AGAIN! and he died because of some stupid thing that wasn't even my fault. So I will not go into the positives here. for that, you can check out the reviews written by some of the less completionist-minded players!
Lack of a proper save function is really atrocious in this game, especially on consoles where you can miss-click very easily.

I played the full version alongside the DLC, on PS5, so needless to say, it was an amazing experience. What this game did was so unique AND incredible, so it is worth every praise, I just wish it was released 2 years later!

This game more than anything, is just a total waste! what an opportunity for a total masterpiece. It's a real pity how numerous critical plot holes, messy controls (archaic walking controls and faulty motion tricks, at least on PS4 where I played it), and serious inconveniences for completionist runs (well, guilty as charged!), and relegate it to a missed chance.

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom6

This game started and continued, for the most part, with pleasant platforming and innovative puzzles, employing its central mechanism of multiple animal forms to the max. Unfortunately, it seems that some of the puzzles, especially towards the end, have been made not to be solved, sometimes even using cheap tricks such as hiding parts of the solution in very hard to notice locations or exploiting new mechanisms, unknown to the player. This, added to the abnormally huge damage from some of the enemies, created a big and in my opinion unfair mid-to-end-game difficulty spike that only stopped the joyful and light-hearted stream of the early gameplay, rather than reward the player for making progress. Going for 100% (which is my usual obsession) makes this journey substantially more excruciating. Nonetheless, since I cannot deny the very rewarding nature of using/combining newly gained abilities to overcome a platforming/puzzle challenge, I have to say that "Monster boy and the Cursed Kingdom" gave me a very split experience, one both starting and ending with surprise.

Amazing worldbuilding, although only with a glance at a spaceship! The game mechanics and specifically the holographic audio logs felt really fresh, even about 5 years after release when I played it. It really pointed out a method of storytelling only possible in the videogame medium.
My only major problem with this game is that the ending left something to be desired, partly since it failed to pay off the plot it had pleasantly built up.
Short & sweet!

This type of surreal content is really not for the game medium. even with a worded script, it would have been confusing. Kudos to anyone who understood anything and kudos to anyone who had the patient to play it over and over or research the fame, but this was definitely not for me. I have to add that the music was specifically a big offender for me, while by itself, a beautiful score, throughout most of the game, the epic tune was constantly playing, as if the whole game was a big continuous climax. I'm sorry, but I think I was just too damn small for the grand vision of the devs!

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart9

I had just played Ratchet & Clank 2016, and it was great, a week later, I played this game, and... Wow! I really didn't think they could upgrade that game on so many levels. It really looked unique. Immersive settings, explosive combat and shooting ( I can't stress this part enough!), and enjoyable progression system. Add to all that, fantastic character buildings and dramatic cutscenes unlike any other R&C game, May I dare to say any game in this genre. Amazing game, totally recommended.

Mafia: Definitive Edition6
Nov 8, 2021
The game looks gorgeous, BUT! the gameplay is totally subpar. specially the melee combat. I found the shooting sequences kind of fun< although they mostly consisted of basic cover and auto-aim. I believe the devs should have gone less GTA/driving/open-world and more gameplay/story. Not that the driving in the city was bad or the cars didn't look amazing, but the AI behavior and the gameplay were not on par with the look of the game. I think It would have been a more original and more Mafia had they gone the other way. Story-wise, the game wasn't anything special. I haven't played the classic Mafia and don't know if they have followed the same story-line or not, but it felt like a filler for the game, just setting to make progress in gorgeous-looking city. P.S. The infamous driving level is back here, I don't know if it is an homage to the original game or just a sadistic trick, but to me, it felt like an unnecessary and odd challenge. specially on the classic difficulty.

DOOM Eternal8
Nov 8, 2021
same fun as Doom 2016 even upped to madness, as far as the action goes, with an equally awesome soundtrack; the problem is long platforming sequences and puzzles that are just not DOOM! I wish they wouldn't cut the fun flow so many times in this game. So I have to side with DOOM 2016 in answering the "Eternal" question: which version is better?! still, It's a great game and totally recommended.
