A competent opening makes we create great expectations, but soon it all crumbles with poor acting and dialogues. The screenplay is reliant in a twist we see coming a mile away. The whole film has direct to video/B-movie vibe that sometimes is charming but here is only cheap looking.

One of the most overrated movies I have ever watched. Maybe when it was released the star power of Pacino and De Niro made people believe it was actually a good movie.

Don't get me wrong. This film is bad, terribly so. But it's also the most fun I had watching a movie in a while. Prime example of "so bad it's good". You must be in a particular mood to appreciate it, but if you get it, you're in for a great ride. When I got to the theater I couldn't stop wondering how many of those people were in on the joke. My answer came when, by the end, as soon as the credits rolled, people were literally clapping and cheering.

The film is pretensious and takes itself too seriously. The plot is completely unfocused and at many moments simply dumb. Definitely the worst Ghibli movie I have ever seen. I have wasted 2 hours of my life. Don't make the same mistake.
