This is a very gripping movie. Every second of it is tense and engaging. Superb acting all around. Masterful directing. One of the best movies in the last few years.

Dumpster fire of a movie. Miles away (in the wrong direction) from the superb universe created by George Lucas. Just plain ridiculous. Lazy pathetic writting, painfully derivative. Laughable plot twists. Struggling cast, as it was impossible to do anything resembling professional acting with this script for any actor. Bizarre and totally out of place special effects (horses in space?!?). The sooner this cinematic slop is forgotten the better.

This movie is trying to be funny, whimsical, and full of meaning about anguish and perseverance. It is at the same time a very old fashioned Oscar bait full of tears of sadness and tears of joy, dialogues where people hammer each other with their grievances and emotions, and a mandatory salute to many previous movies and the joy of cinema (in this case mostly kung fu cinema). If you are not buying the incessant torrent of methaphores you will end up hating the 140 minutes you just wasted (like I did).

Excellent suspense-thriller. Very well executed. Some fantastic acting in the cast (chiefly, Sandra Bullock in an Oscar-worthy performance). I really enjoyed "The Quiet Place" and I also very much enjoyed "Bird Box". I have absolutely no problem with these two movies existing side-by-side. They are both excellent and, obvious similarities notwithstanding, original movies.

The movie is slow and introverted, exactly like its subject. At times, it is a bit boring, but for me, the last 30 minutes were worth any pain and boredom. The music is gorgeous and that whole part is at the same time triumphant and heartbreaking. Those scenes were good enough for me to elevate the whole movie to a superb level. Pure perfection in my opinion. I was particularly moved by the scene when as the whole world is celebrating, Neal Armstrong is reminiscing about his daughter and throwing her bracelet into a moon canyon. I loved the main character and the way Ryan Gosling captured him. I felt enormous empathy for him, I also loved his quiet heroism (such stark contrast with blowhardery of what we see these days on TV and in movies), his broken soul, and his steadfast consistency. I will definitely see this movie again. It very much brought back my childhood fascination with the space, moon, Apollo program, etc (more than any other movie about that era, and I have seen them all). This is a smart and subdued movie, that beautifully encapsulated the colossal challenge and achievement of going to the moon and getting back for the first time. I LOVED IT!!

This sloppy, ham-fisted, clunky, plodding, confused attempt to whip something together about young(ish) Han Solo seems like the latest nail in the coffin of the intricate and genius universe that George Lucas created with his first six Star Wars movies. After the ham-fisted fan-fiction B.S. of THE FORCE AWAKENS, a bit of integrity and hope for the Star Wars universe was briefly bought back by the ROGUE ONE. A further tad of encouragement was brought by the THE LAST JEDI (which was certainly a better and more thoughtful movie than THE FORCE AWAKENS) that made some small steps towards perhaps making this new iteration of the Star Wars franchise worth some time investment. Alas, it seems that Disney can't consistently hire a set of writers and directors to come even close to the coherency and magnitude of Lucas' work, as was sadly evident by this mess of the SOLO movie.

A surprisingly good movie. Quite innovative. Cliche-avoiding thriller. Good tight script, competently executed. Excellent acting by the entire cast.

This is a fantastic film - the best of 2017 in my opinion. The acting is superb, the story is compelling, and the emotions are genuine. Highly recommended.

DO NOT BE FOOLED. This is a dreadful movie, that you will regret wasting your time on (as I am regretting it right now). I loved "Pan's Labyrinth" and I can not believe that the same person directed this delusional self-congratulatory unwatchable mess. In addition to being somehow both irritatingly stupid and seriously boring at same time, other problems with this movie are..., never mind, stupid and boring is enough to describe it, so I will leave it at that.

A fine movie that can actually keep attention **** person. The less you know about it in advance the better. The movie is clever, suspenseful, and the acting performances are outstanding, especially by Alan Rickman and Helen Mirren. It is not a perfect movie (no movie is) but it is perfectly suspenseful from first to last second. Different people will walk away from it with different views of what happened or should have happened. That makes this film perfect for a post-movie debate. Also, it is refreshing to see a movie without a manufactured villain. Instead we see a number of characters trying to make decisions with which they are charged with to their best of abilities under very stressful and time-constraining circumstances. We also get to see the aftermath and consequences of their decisions.

Fine acting, fine landscapes, nice costumes and sets, but a very thin and an extremely slow moving story. The movie length could have easily been cut by half and it would still move at a slow pace. If you are not a connoisseur of cinematography and vistas or of triage of wounds, you will be bored, and that is a guarantee. The ending fight scene is full of cliches seen hundreds of times in other movies. Solid, but not spectacular, work by DiCaprio. He will get his Oscar this year, mainly because of amazing work in his previous movies.

As someone who saw all the previous Star War movies, and enjoyed each one of them, my impression of Force Awakens is mostly negative. This is by far the least original movie in the Star Wars series. There are zero surprises or suspense in The Force Awakens. Every plot twist (if it can be even called that) is telegraphed with an unusual lack of subtlety. You can say what you want about Lucas, but even the harshest critic of prequels has to acknowledge that every one of those movies, while perhaps containing some wooden acting and a few unfortunate characters (e.g. Jar Jar) also introduced new awesome goose-bump-producing characters (e.g. Qui Gon, Darth Maul), new plot twists, and genuine surprises. The Force Awakens simply has none of that. Instead it has the feeling of a made-for-TV Star Wars reunion special. A big problem for The Force Awakens are its villains. Kylo-Ren could not scare a 5-year old, the store-brand Voldemort (pardon me Supreme Leader Snoke) reminded me mostly of an elderly Ent, General Hux is is a drama queen in a 1950's flight-attendant hat, and Captain Phasma mostly has the role of an obedient and disciplined hostage. Darth Vader would **** each on one of those with his little finger while drinking his morning tea gazing in the distance. If you are looking for something scary in this movie, Carrie Fisher's acting is it. Anticipating whether she will be able to keep it together in her scenes provides some nervous suspense. The battle scenes are surprisingly short and taking place mostly on earth as far as I can tell. Space is simply not a big part of this movie. I could go on and, on but you get the gist. I watched each on the previous Star Wars movies at least 10 times and they remain one of my guilty-pleasures and time-wasters. I will continue to watch the newly made Star Wars movies, but probably each one of them just once.

Interesting and entertaining movie from start to finish. Cranston is superb, as is the rest of the cast. Excellent (but not annoying an preechy) insight into a turbulent era in the American history. Appropriate for thoughtful audience including young adults. R rating is way to harsh for this film.
