Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE10
Mar 13, 2026
The best version of a survival horror classic. I've been thoroughly enjoying this - easily feels like the best Fatal Frame game you can play without a PS2 emulator. Feels like the best way for new people to get into the franchise. Early reviews were justifiably negative for film grain and crazy balance in the early game, but those issues have both been fixed with extremely quick patches from the devs. Game feels great to play now, imo. Thoroughly recommend checking it out if you enjoy horror. There's nothing quite like these games

Disappointing, and I really wanted to love it. If you've not played the Batman Arkham video game series, do yourself a favor and go play that instead. Every game in that series is orders of magnitude better than this one

Huge dead space fan, and I really wanted to love this, but so many aspects of the game seem like they were designed to be as intentionally obnoxious as possible

For anyone thinking of buying this game, listen to this logic: You throw 200 punches (100 of which are not blocked) into your opponent's head. Get punched twice. Now you're down for the count. There are many good alternatives to this game that won't make you rage quit after every match

If you liked any of the others in the series, this one is worth trying out at the very least. The co-op mode is a bit more in the style of gears of war, but that actually works pretty well

Very addictive combat, if nothing else. If you've played devil may cry 4, or bayonetta, you'll feel right at home with this game. I loved bayonetta, but I have to say, this game edges it out in terms of action and visuals. It is almost on par with arkham city for action

If you liked the past two Arkham games, you'll feel right at home with this one. Honestly, I'm pretty surprised that the overall metacritic score is around 80 at launch. This game is every bit as good as the past two entries (Arkham City is still the best, but not at all by a long shot), along with a bunch of good new changes. The detective cases are a nice addition and it seems like they struck a nice balance with them they're never overly complicated enough to the point that you're going to get stuck, but they have you figure out enough that it is still satisfying to put together the pieces. Combat is a lot more difficult than the previous games, though altogether almost identical to the Arkham City system. Boss fights have been fantastic so far, and I'd have to say that this would be one of the parts of this game that is actually better than Arkham City. All in all, if you loved the other two games, don't hesitate to pick this one up, because you'll have just as much fun with it.

This series of episodes starts out a bit rough but when you look to a book or movie, the ending is really what becomes the deciding factor. And that's the amazing thing about this game, is that the storytelling is comparable to a book or movie. The gameplay and graphics have their rough patches here and there, and there are times where you may need to look up a guide because nothing makes sense. But all in all, this game portrays a great story and one that is well worth checking out. For anyone on the fence about this game, play through the first two chapters (roughly 4 hours) and you will not regret it for a second. The fact that you can get all this for $20 is amazing. You actually get to highly influence the story and how all of the characters (live or die) will keep pushing towards the end. The 3rd and last chapter of it all are really mindblowing, particularly the last. I was really floored by the story on this one, and that truthfully hasn't happened to me since I played through the first bioshock. I can't think of many things that provide more value for $20. Check it out if you haven't. You will not regret it.

Played the game for a few hours last night, and it has definitely exceeded my expectations. I've been casually playing guitar for about 4 years now and I'm pretty decent at it. Most of the tutorials and challenges that are in place, I can finish on the first try without any trouble. That being said, I'm glad that this game is heavily tailored for beginners early on because it should make the game much more accessible. That and the note highway will take a few songs to get used to. Though I am pretty decent at guitar already, even after playing for just a few hours, I feel like I have improved at playing guitar. Probably the biggest improvement has been my knowledge of the fretboard, it's good to be able to shift without looking and hit the right notes clean. I'd say I'm also improving a bit on string accuracy. This really impressed me since I didn't really expect to improve much from playing the game, I just wanted to learn some songs without reading through a f***ing tab again. In my opinion, rocksmith outguns guitar hero or rock band in all of its gameplay elements AND actually teaches/improves guitar skills. The only reason I am not giving this game an emphatic 10 is because I wish the song list had a bit more metal or hard rock. That being said, don't let that deter you from buying this game, it is well worth the money. And future dlc will probably fix any issues with the song list, I'd shell out 10 bucks for a few tracks. Saves you a lot of time compared to learning the songs by tab. Also, fair warning, if you get this, don't play any of the guitarcade games. You will become crack addicted to them and be unable to stop playing. Seriously, it's like a collection of heterosexual wii games, you won't put down the guitar until your body demands it.
