Becoming Led Zeppelin10

Told in their own words, the 3 surviving members tell compelling and interesting stories to describe their own journeys, the journey of the band, their experiences, and what they found incredibly valuable in each other. An absolutely brilliant documentary, IMO.

This movie was a huge disappointment. The male characters are monochromatic and uniformly negative. The story is uninteresting. Most of the characters, regardless of gender, are self-absorbed and inaccessible. Personally, I appreciated insight into culture and class in Mexico **** there was not enough of that and too much hating on males and highlighting of class inequalities. My wife and daughter, sophisticated people, were shocked that this was highly rated by critics - and it was their choice to watch. They wanted to stop after 30 minutes but I was convinced it had to get better. It didn’t.

Absolutely brilliant: the weaving of the timelines, the character development with minimal dialogue, the unfolding of plot and theme without preachiness...this was one of those films that one could see several times and still get something from each viewing. The use of different filming parameters (depending on the scene) was interesting, too. My 18 yo son and I enjoyed it immensely.

Super film - best comic book film to date: quick dialogue (a little immature in some ways, way too mature for your kids in other ways) and lots of action. Well crafted 4th-wall breaking style that in no way compromises the entertainment factor. IMO, this is a must-see for 17+ people who like action super hero films: new style, super entertaining.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens10

Absolutely fantastic! It carries on brilliantly from the end of Episode 6 and introduces some brilliant new characters with real energy and charisma. The magic is there, fully. IMO, this film is nearly the equal of the first film (episode 4) except that, of course, it doesn't introduce a whole new universe - it merely carries it onwards the way the 6th movie really should have done. Brilliant. Looking forward to Episode 8 in 2017!

This film had a couple of interesting ideas, not new ideas, but fun **** seems to be a series of short vignettes, each incorporating some cool notion or special effects that the director wants to explore, but without much connecting each scene. I didn't hate it - but it is something like a 1-1/2 or 2 star film.

I went to an iMax theater to see this with my 15 and 17 yo sons. It was outstanding: non-stop action, great storyline, incredibly emergent 3D effects, good casting, imaginative story line. If you like action films, if you don't mind violence, and you love a fast-paced film with some mental twists thrown in, then you will probably love this film

This film compelled me to sign up and give full marks to here on metacritic! Wow. Saw at IMAX. Faithful to book and 1st film that I thought was better than the book it was modeled upon. Casting and acting were excellent. The pace of the movie was superb some parts are indeed slower and less action-packed than other parts, but they need to be. My 11 yo daughter (who was Katniss for Halloween), my 15 yo son, my wife, and her parents and I all thought the experience was awesome. It is violent. No doubt. So if that concerns you, then that is a caution.
