1899: Season 12
Nov 19, 2022
What starts out as an intriguing premise that takes place on an 1899 ocean liner, builds into a mystery that becomes more and more implausible to resolve. There are layers upon layers of "Is this reality? I can't tell anymore!" About halfway through the season, there's no longer any intrigue. It devolves into a boring, dragged-out repeat of characters moving in and out of rooms, locations, etc., trying to solve some elaborate sci-fi reality riddle with no cohesive through-line in the end.

The show starts off intriguing with a cool sci-fi premise. With each passing episode, there's less and less sci-fi and more and more boring teen drama. For several episodes, there's almost no sci-fi stuff anymore, just drama. On top of that, the main character is unlikable. She's entitled and cranky, always getting irritated with everyone. As if the writer's only experience with teens is them getting mad at all the time.

Excellent show. Great writing. Clever dialog. Funny. A little violent. What more could you want in a show?

This series is criminally underrated. I binged all the seasons. Excellent plot, characters, action and intrigue. Sometimes bittersweet but ties up nicely at the end. Glad I got to see it.

Harley Quinn: Season 10
Dec 6, 2019
The first scene in the first episode opens with leader **** of bad guys saying, "Gentlemen! My fellow whites! Let's raise a glass to this pyramid of money. The foundation of which was built upon our favorite pastime. F**king the poor!" I had to rewind it a few times to make sure that they were actually saying, "my fellow WHITES." It's unfathomable to me how acceptable it is to inject anti-white sentiment into every show these days. This is pure woke garbage and deserves to be sunk just like every other show that pulls this crap.

Show is boring and trite. They tried to turn a great comic into woke left fantasy.

Hey, I have an idea. Let's take a beloved franchise that had nothing to do with race and make it all about race and racism. Let's make something that will satiate my white-as-evil-incarnate fantasy.

The Boys: Season 110

Netflix, pay attention: this is how superhero shows are made. Engaging from start to finish. Not endless melodramatic talky filler. Sex, violence, a lot of plot movement and a great story. I just hope the next season is as good as this one.

The Society: Season 11

The premise is interesting, if derivative. But the whole show reeks of social engineering. All the bad guys are white males and the good guys are women, non-white males and disabled people. The lead woman is particularly self-righteous and irritating.

The scifi premise was interesting, if derivative. But the whole thing reeks of social engineering: all the bad guys are white males, the good guys are women, non-white males and the disabled (deaf). On top of that, the lead woman is sanctimonious and irritating.

I'm done with Netflix superhero shows. Why? They aren't action shows. They're drama. And not very good drama. Very little actually HAPPENS in these shows. It's mostly characters having conversations with other characters. And I'm not talking about conversations on the way to action happening. Conversation with just two characters sitting around talking in boring locations. In this room or that room. And when things actually happen, its as if it happens in addition to the drama. Something will happen and then it's right back to boring conversations.

Terrible. Total waste of time. I don't even understand why Roseanne wasn't on the show. I thought the show was about her.

The Terror: Season 17
Apr 27, 2018
Everything about this show was great except that a lot of it could have been cut. The production, acting, story, action and effects all worked. Some of the actors were really good and the plot tension was nice. But there was a lot of inert exposition that just seemed to add needless minutes. The whole series could be edited down to five episodes and nothing would be lost. Still worth seeing though.

Corporate: Season 110

A funny, well-produced, absurd dark comedy. Can't wait for more. Not for everyone but five minutes into the first episode you'll know if you like it or not.

Marvel's Runaways: Season 14
Dec 19, 2017
I watched this up until the 7th episode when it became obvious that we were in for the same exact thing show after show: The interesting super power elements take a back seat to a soap opera of kids who alternately love/hate their parents and trust/distrust each other. The production values are great. The music excellent. But beyond the soap opera dramatics, nothing of significance happens. And not one person has run away yet.

Marvel's The Punisher: Season 13
Nov 23, 2017
Each episode is 50 minutes of talk and 5 minutes of action. In 13 hours of this series, there's enough action to fill about one exciting movie. 90 percent of it is people having conversations with other people in boring locations. Every turn of plot is dragged out five times longer than it needs to be. Jon Bernthal is fantastic. The other actors aren't bad. The production is good. Everything is well-made. It's just painfully slow and talky.

The Orville: Season 19
Nov 13, 2017
This show is more star trek than the last few iterations of star trek. The visual effects aren't bad, but it is not eye candy in any way. In fact, the whole aesthetic is somewhat minimal and awkward--almost like the original star trek show. What's beautiful is that they actually take risks with the story lines. Some pay off. Some leave you scratching your head thinking it didn't quite work, but at least it's thoughtful. It feels like something new. It's lightly funny but takes the sci-fi seriously. This sets it apart from almost any sci-fi out there right now. This show is enjoyable now and once it's gone through its growing pains, it could be truly spectacular.

The Tick (2017): Season 110
Aug 27, 2017
This might be the best show currently on Amazon. Everything works in this show: the fun, cartoony characters, the action sequences, the plot. The only annoying thing is the main character's cowardice. But it's a necessary plot element. The casting for the Tick himself was excellent.
