Original Arcade game at least was a hit back in the days, gameplay, controls, 2D visuals delivered more facial expressions that this cheap 3D version.

Another of the great surprises of modern pixel nostalgia, The Messenger takes the inspiration of Ninja Gaiden (NES) and takes it to its highest peak, the story, the rhythm, the gameplay, the animations and the aesthetics stand out in every way. A surprise to see how 8-bit dominates perfectly as well as 16-bit, a great nod perfectly linked to the story. Ninja Gaiden took inspiration from The Messenger again and they released a title recently, but it doesn't live up to the freshness of The Messenger. Bavo

Yes, clearly this game is perfect. It is the pinnacle of Beat Em Ups, combining spectacular animation, unbeatable design and image, a wide repertoire of characters, with a wide repertoire of movements, added to a wide repertoire of enemies and strategies that make it impossible to get bored throughout the game. The number of phases and final monsters means that you don't have the feeling that it is short or long (although we already know that the longer the **** short, it is the Beat em up that will mark a before and after in this type of games. The perfect combination of best Capcom's Marvel fighting games with the best beat em up mechanics ever.

Terminator 2D: NO FATE

I applaud the idea of making a pixel-art shoot-’em-up based on Terminator 2. However, I expected something more for a game released in 2026. The dark aesthetic feels appropriate, although it contrasts with the sobriety of some characters, such as Sarah Connor, who shows no face or facial expressions, while some bosses—like the very first one—have a slightly more humorous tone. The animation is also inconsistent. The movements are fluid and seem to aim for realistic motion, but the walking animation doesn’t quite work. The jump looks very strange, with the legs appearing as if they’re still planted on the ground while the character is in the air. Sarah Connor’s arms, when aiming diagonally, become extremely long. There are several inconsistencies that make the overall presentation feel uneven. Some animations include smooth in-between frames, but others—such as when climbing stairs—happen abruptly. In some places there are too few in-betweens, while in others there are too many where they aren’t necessary. The difficulty can be challenging, which I think is a positive point. It’s the kind of game you have to learn in order to progress, much like the difficult games of the 1990s. However, some scenarios become monotonous and boring. The platforming sections are very similar to other 90s games, such as Batman on the SNES, and don’t add anything new to the gameplay mechanics. The gameplay itself is good, though somewhat limited due to the way the animation frames are handled and the boring enemies (bosses rocks, and difficulty gets hot!). It is an action shoot em up but also a strategy one, further away from Metal SLug and closer to Shinobi 1987, you need to memorize the enemies to finish the game.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

So much effort for what? original pixel version martch much better image quality and animation quality. Can you imagine watching Dragon Ball Brodi or One punch man animated at 8 fps? SFTHDR only enhances graphics but not enhancing animation, so animations looks like 1990 videogames, while graphics looks like regular 2000 flash web series. More even, there were hundreds of animes with better visuals even in the 80's. So no, the HD remix was a visual failure from the art POV, the origianl at least has this nostalgia, and that's whay only a portfor PS3 and Xbox360 exist. SFIII 3rd Strike was the pinnacle of the SF 2D games (and SF games in general, as the 3D versions are OK, but felt so plastic...) in visuals, style, gameplay, balance and animation, and that's it. I mean a "0" vote feels unfair at any point for any game, but this version felt totally unnecessary and wasted

SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom

The game is not super well balanced, and the lack of sprites in the animations was a bit poor even for back in the days. Is quite nice to see Ryu, Ken, Akuma, and Bison in SNK style, but the SNK gameplay with only 4 buttons makes the game a bit plain. few options for the characters and some as Vega (the Spanish guy) are way out of balance. It wouldn't be too expensive to make a remake with upgraded animations, sounds, backgorunds and better balance. And adding some extra characters ;) But I guess the game wasnt a hit at the time (becauseall of this...) and then they dont want to risk more resources in this one.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound

The best part of Ninja Gaiden Ragebound is the history around The Messenger developers and the Ninja Gaiden NES producers. Ninja Gaiden inspired The Messenger and the latest one inspired Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, this is a win win for players. NGR is a master piece in animation, visuals and music. Bosses are hard enough and fun, and there are good additions to the story. But unfortunately, the levels are pretty boring, game mechanic is based on few different enemies mechanics and after several levels, you get bored. It the same all over and over from the very first level. The gameplay feels a lot as old SNES games but with very good sprites. I cant understand how people can give this game a 10 beyond visuals which of course it is a 10. Only motivation to keep playing is in the nostalgic side. It can be also a bit easy, so the upgrades to lost life and make it hard can be appreciated through the levels (not in the bosses!). I dont like the look and feel of the NG 3D games, so this is a very welcome addition to the franchise.
