Diablo III: Eternal Collection9
Aug 22, 2022
I love this game, and I've put more hours into it than I should have. So much replayability! Love the seasons and the multiplayer on switch, I've got my dad playing it with me now. Just wish there was cross-platform play so I could play with my friends who play on PC. But holy crap, this is just a great game.

Arcade Space Shooter 2 in 16
Aug 22, 2022
It's 2 decent high-score space shooters for one price. They're fun for when you've got nothing else to play or you want 5 minutes to think about what you're going to play. Get it on sale and it's worth it, but don't expect some sort of awe-inspiring game. It's just well-done, basic arcade stuff.

It's a great twin-stick shooter with a fun vibe and playful presentation. Once you really start amassing those powerups, HOLY CRAP it's so much fun!!! I got 45 hours out of this game easily with the DLC which is completely worth getting!!!!

Aug 22, 2022
Awesome games based on twitch reflexes, creativity, boldness, and weapon choices. Plenty of replayability with the weapon and mask unlocks! This is one of those great games with old-school, cheap-looking graphics that you just have to enjoy the way it looks because it feels just so dang good to play!

Honestly I was excited for this game when I found it. For the first few levels I genuinely loved the tower defense-like gameplay. But by the end of the first world (only like 5 levels or so later) the difficulty suddenly spiked and I couldn't get past it. The store only refreshes when you beat a new level, so I couldn't get better gear and unless I wanted to farm the earlier levels on repeat to get the lucky gear spawns, I was out of luck. If it weren't for that out-of-place difficulty spike that made the game basically unplayable for me and if the game continued as it started, I would have genuinely enjoyed it a lot.

GoNNER4
Aug 22, 2022
This game has great art direction, but that's where the positives stop for me. I think this is an overly basic game with precious little to offer. You fumble through it until you need to look up a basic guide online to understand the differences between items and what the glyphs mean or do. I played for an hour and was bored by the end of it. I would not recommend unless you like basic, mindless, arcade-y shooters. I wanted some story, some semblance of meaning to it all, but it's just a boring game wrapped in very eye-catching presentation. I think the critics missed the mark on this one.

Quest of Dungeons8
Mar 26, 2022
It's a simple traditional rogue-like dungeon crawler. I have loved my time with this game. It's simple and fun, though the higher difficulties are almost prohibitively hard. The music loops get pretty annoying after a while. But I would recommend this game, especially if you can get it on sale. It's a great game for the switch! Sort of like baby's first traditional rogue-like.

CROSSBOW: Bloodnight7
Mar 26, 2022
This game is surprisingly fun and draws me back in for another run repeatedly each time I open it. It's definitely more of a pick-up-and-play experience rather than a marathon gaming session. The game is polished and **** there's only the one arena that you ever play in. In fact, it's just repeated runs at the same enemies spawning in the same order each time, while it definitely is fun, it can wear thin after a while. That said, if you pick this up on sale, you won't regret it! Tons of fun to be had with this arena shooter. Just wish there was more content in it, otherwise my score would be an 8 or a 9.

Mar 25, 2022
It's simple in concept and gameplay, but it is perfect for what it is! It's a brilliant pick-up-and-play melee twin-stick shooter/arena battle game. To upgrade to new items you have to fulfill different challenges, which can be incredibly difficult. This isn't a game you'll sit down and play for 3 hours, but it is DEFINITELY one that you'll keep coming back to for 5-30 minutes at a time. I love this little title, and it is so worth it for the price. Plus, it goes on sale all the time! BUY BUY BUY!!!

Atomic Heist8
Mar 25, 2022
This game has no right being as strangely addictive as it is. It's a simple twin-stick shooter with an interesting radiation mechanic that drives you forward to find more anti-radiation pickups and you level up/choose your types of bullets as you go through. It's pretty unforgiving and difficult, but I genuinely like this game. If you're looking for a good twin-stick shooter meets dungeon-crawler, this is it! It's so cheap, there's no reason NOT to get it if it's on sale! I bought it for like 50 cents and have sunk like 10 hours into it. It looks cheap, but it plays well.

Mech Rage5
Feb 26, 2022
It's a basic twin-stick shooter that's short in length and not that satisfying to play. I like the structure of each room, but it gets tedious after a while with some of the challenges. Overall, if it's only like a buck and you're aching for a new twin-stick shooter, go for it, but otherwise I would not recommend this unremarkable game.

Feb 25, 2022
It's a boring budget platformer with what could have been an interesting element with the cloud curse, but it inevitably just fell short for me. I hated how jumping felt, which is not something you want in a platformer. Would not recommend even picking it up on sale.

Feb 25, 2022
These 2 games are simple and enjoyable, though the final boss in the second game seemed infuriating in structure. The simple graphics are appealing and overall these 2 games are good. But I wouldn't say this is a platformer that demands to be played by anyone but newcomers to the genre.

I love the way the game looks and how the character jumps. But the difficulty spikes in this old-school platformer proved to be far too irritating to me. If you like having games demanding pinpoint accuracy on sliding surfaces, you might like this. Myself, I'll stick to Super Meat Boy if I want that kind of difficulty balanced with much better controls.

Feb 25, 2022
The game design is appealing and overall the ideas presented are good, if you are a fan of turn-based strategy games. But the game demands FAR too much grinding to make this game enjoyable. Progression slows to a crawl after the first few levels.

A Robot Named Fight!6
Feb 25, 2022
If you like classic Metroid, you'll probably like this. I wanted the rogue-like structure to do more than just unlock possible items, I wanted more character progression between runs to make the runs slightly better each time. The shrines and other places to present offerings were confusing and I never got any use out of them. That said, the game is still somewhat entertaining, if you like Metroid-like games. The visuals and sound design are quite good! But overall, I just couldn't push myself to keep doing runs.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA3
Feb 25, 2022
I can't get past the terrible dialogue and writing. The game feels like a lame, poorly-written anime that is too horny. The camera feels janky and the combat feels hollow. Ys Origin had much better action, though it similarly suffered from horrendous storytelling. I wouldn't recommend this unless you consider yourself a weeb and a fan of the action RPG genre.

It's clever, it's colorful, and it's a wonderful metroidvania adventure! The combat is superb and just supremely fun to play! Tons of extras and unlockables for diehards and it's just clearly got a ton of love poured into it. Love the game!

Mana Spark8
Nov 8, 2021
I really liked this game's cute aesthetic and rogue-lite design. It doesn't take itself too seriously, it's got fun action (highly recommend using the warrior class). The DLC is great because it adds a ton of new items, levels, and a fun 4th boss. This game isn't going to win any awards for plot or level design, but it is more than worth you're time if you're looking for something genuinely fun.

Nov 3, 2021
It's appealing appearance can only go so far. I'm a big shoot 'em up fan, but this one just felt clunky and weirdly stiff. I didn't enjoy the level design or the choices made with how the weapons function. Overall it just felt like a poor game that I'm disappointed I wasted a few bucks on even though it was on sale. It showed genuine promise, but couldn't follow through.

Three Fourths Home6
Oct 13, 2021
It's a text-based story. Don't expect a game, you'll be bored. The story isn't crazy or scary or overly interesting, it's just an emotionally engaging story where you discover the relationship dynamics in a somewhat dysfunctional family. If you're into that sort of thing, you'll love this. Myself, I was interested but not enthralled.

Dungeon Siege5

I loved this game as a kid, but I have to say that I don't think it's aged well. The combat is just so...boring. I like juggling all the characters, but the attacking is just poor and the AI is bad. I tried to get back through it and after like 30 hours, I couldn't bring myself to finish it. At least finding the best items was fun and building your party's abilities was enjoyable. Overall though, it's only okay.

Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear9
Oct 7, 2021
It's a fun game that doesn't reach the highs of its predecessors. Don't go in expecting it to be as good as BG1 or 2 and you'll still have fun! It has some decent mechanics and fun maps to explore. I bought it in a bundle with the 2 enhanced editions and was happy with that purchase. It's been the subject of unfair review-bombing, so I wouldn't pay much mind to the user score. Masses of people scoring it a "0" have an axe to grind. Overall, it's fun, classic gameplay in an already-established world. I loved the final levels and the artwork was great.

The story is kind of basic and the acting is sub-par, but it's just so FUN!!! It's easy to understand and brilliant to play. I just went back and broke out my old Xbox to replay this title and it's still pretty good by today's standards. Wish it would get a remaster or re-release on Switch or PC.

The older Oddworld games are interesting and have their fans. But this game...THIS game, this is SO GOOD. Munch's Oddysee just captured my imagination and enthralled me. Oct 7, 2021
This is a MUST-PLAY for any real RPG fan. This game series is LEGENDARY in every epic sense of the word!!!! This is a classic, one of the greatest games (though the sequel is admittedly even better!). I grew up with this game and have sunk hundreds of hours into replaying it and its enhanced edition over the years. There's just so much earnest love that was put into this game. The story is great, the characters are enjoyable (though they both improve drastically in the second game). Play this and PLAY THE SEQUEL.

Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition10
Oct 7, 2021
BG2 is huge, it's fun, and it's a classic. If you don't like this game, you don't understand RPGs. It's one of the most replayable, most fun games I've ever played. The enhanced edition brings in a lot of welcome changes and new characters to the classic version. I have sunk hundreds of hours into this game and CANNOT RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH. This was a brilliant effort to renew one of my all time favorite games of the past. The real time strategy with pause element makes you feel like you're overseeing a full battlefield, rather than playing a turn-based combat game (like many modern sprawling RPGs do, like Divinity). The classes and magic systems are so well-realized and interesting that you will want to replay and replay it just to get a taste of all the game has to offer! The NPCs and voice acting are fantastic, the quests are detailed and fun. There is a reason this game is considered one of the all-time greats. Buy it.

Pixel Gladiator6
Oct 7, 2021
I genuinely love the core mechanic of the game. Tower defense meets run and gun arcade action shooter. But there's only 3 levels and I only liked one of them. I'd definitely be interested in DLC or an updated version of the game that expands the number of levels. It's straightforward and fun for a minute, but I was done enjoying it within an hour. Hopefully the developers make a game like this, but bigger and more fully realized.

Really love the soundtrack and audio direction. The action feels great and the gameplay is addictive! I love games of this style and it's just super replayable. It's already at a budget price, so it's totally worth picking up. Fans of the rogue-lite genre will love this and I think it would be appealing to people who aren't sure about the genre yet. The platformer climbing is satisfying and makes this game feel really unique in my opinion.

It's a crappy rage game. It took me 1 minute to realize that the 15 cents I spent on it was not worth it. All it breeds is anger at how unfair and stupid it is. If that was their goal, congrats you achieved it. Don't buy this.

This feels like it should be the leaked, alpha stage of the game. There's some good ideas that would be fun to see done better and fleshed out. There's some creative fun to be had in a few of the levels. But by the time you get to the first boss you'll be lukewarm on it. The first boss is just broken in my opinion, I spent far longer than I'd care to admit on it. It stopped being fun or tough-but-fair, and just felt like poorly designed trash. It frustrated me beyond belief. So yeah, I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone.

I liked the visuals and the level design. That's it. The story-telling was incomprehensible to me and I hated the narration. This felt like a terrible take on Bastion. The combat was a weird combination of turn-based strategy and action RPG and I couldn't stand how blocky and unwieldy it felt. I expected a lot more from the team that made Bastion, one of my favorite games. Overall I'm really disappointed in this game and I can't understand how someone might enjoy it.

The procedural generation makes maps that don't make any sense. I wish they were more purposeful with the level design. The jump doesn't feel right at all, far too bouncy and strange than it should be. I didn't enjoy controlling it, the game got quickly repetitive, and it was difficult. Too much grinding required and simply put: I didn't enjoy it at all when I thought it looked amazing.
