So, you can't skip scenes or recaps. It only has a few (8) vehicles and customizing them is purely cosmetic. I feel like I'm running the same 3 tracks with varying degrees of visibility.... Not sure how this game has scored as well as it has. The handles is solid for a while then you start to notice the perfect AI awareness. I think it's totally worth10,great at 15,ok at 20.

If there were another mech-type PS4 game out there, I haven't hit it. Hawken can be fun, though my late arrival to the game means that there isn't as large a player base as I would like. TL;DR: Give it a go, it ain't bad. The gameplay is tight. Shots generally feel like they are going where they should, and hit when they should. There's a massive difference in high caliber players versus newbies, and learning to use your mech can take some time. Graphics are a bit sub-par; everything looks gray or brown, and the customization options are lousy. I wanna dress up my mech dolls pretty, give me some damned options. The maps are great; I love the layouts. You have to pay attention all over the place, because there is pretty nearly always at least 3 ways to get to any point. I usually die to where I'm not looking. There are several different game modes, but again, the lower playerbase means that it's a little tricky to play the one you may be interested in at the time. Finally, their pay model. I like to give companies money. No, really. I especially like to do it early on, when I feel like I'm getting the best boost. Here, you can buy your mech directly, or work your way up to it. There seems to be roughly 25 different mechs to play; (there's a lot of playstyles). But, earning them is totally possible. However, there's not a lot of incentive to put money into the game after you have the mech you like. Most cosmetic options cost some cash, and some actually do look kinda cool, but there's not really nearly enough options to make me feel like, "wow, let me put the money into that!". Hard to see what you would put the money down for, as a result, unless you are really in a hurry. Averaging it out for me, it looks like about a mech a week with 2-3 hours gameplay a day. More or less, depending on your game mode, and success in crunching other people's giant robots.

I have spent about 12 hours playing Skyforge now. Edited on 5/3/17: 30 Hours. Absolutely never, nope, nuh-uh, stop. TL;DR: It's fun for about the first 6, if you can figure it out. I really wanted to like Skyforge. It was a cool idea, and I loved the notion of getting to play any class with my one character. That subtly shifts the paradigm of gameplay from "omg wasting my time on this one, I want to try that one". Unfortunately, 14 of 17 classes require by my math, 2-3 weeks solid play before you get to open one. It's not a progression the way they promise, it's just raw money, whether it's in-game or RL--though obviously spending dollars speeds you along, that's where you encounter the next problem. After 12 hours, I'm bored already. I opened up all of the tree of each of my 3 classes, and not without a lot of frustration. There are numerous bugs, and the "tutorial" is ridiculously pointless, but worst of all is how unintuitive the whole thing is. Why is my map screen the only way to see what I need to do? And if it is, why did you bury it in the middle of my menu? (And then there's that bug that won't let me back out of it again....) I like giving money to games I enjoy. But the entire time I played this, I sat on the fence of "is it worth it". The most compelling thing for me is levelling up and discovering neat new combinations in classes and abilities, and you don't get that here at all. Each class has a pretty straight line of abilities that doesn't allow for any customization. You'll find your combos, you'll use them, and la! you're done. But hey, it's free to play. If you want to put your time into it, it's pretty enough. I haven't played with others yet, so maybe that's a huge element of the game that I'm missing. If it is, I'll come back and edit my review to include the amazing shift that happens at that point. Edited 5-3-17: I spent about 30 hours total on the game. Dropped the score from 5 to 1. Don't do it. It's an unforgivably boring ride. You have no access to any of their vaunted classes, "how to play" is an absolute joke, and the game is a mockery of an MMO. Why? You do everything yourself. THe few times I joined up with groups to do an instance, it was this insane race to get it done with no communication between players, and absolutely no need for any playstyle other than damage. I deleted this hideous game from my PS4 and have felt better for it.
