Max Payne 3

I loved the old max payne games, however this one was a disappointment. Though there is nothing technically wrong with it. It felt repetitive, and I felt like I had to force myself to finish it. The story is good, however the shooting/action is just the same bullet dodge/slow time, hide in cover, pop out rinse repeat. The online was also a distraction, at first it was a lot of fun, but after a few hours it begins to feel stale as well. A fun little distraction for a few days, but ultimately lacks the depth needed to be a mainstay. However I didn't know why I was expecting anything different, Rockstar stayed true to the original games, and the gaming landscape has changed since then. A good story can't carry mediocre gameplay, and online is just a tacked on side note. Disappointment.

Very fun game, tons of customization, fun missions with varied weapons, turrets, and mech choices. I really enjoyed this game. My only compliant is that the rank limit is way too low you practically reach it before the campaign is over which cuts back a little on replayability. There are tons of stats and accomplishments to achieve but I lose the sense of progression when the rank became capped. I still replay the stages trying to gold medal them, but would have liked to have seen a higher rank limit. Other than that though, this game is a blast to play alone, with randoms or with friends.

Brink an OBJECTIVE based, TEAM oriented, first person shooter. Objectives and team work far out way the importance of shooting enemies in this game. It is more important to secure objectives and support your team with buffs/ammo/healing/building turrets etc, and capturing command posts to enhance your teams stats. Now if the game is played like that and gone into with the mindset to focus on team and support rather than K/D ratio then this game is highly enjoyable. When I am playing COD or BFBC etc I was very focused on K/D ratio and would strive to obtain the highest ever. With this game it is far more important to play as a team and support than K/D ratio and you are rewarded handsomely for your actions as well as killing the other team. I am really enjoying this game. However it does have some downfalls, there are quite a bit of lag issues at the moment, most of the weapons feel the same, and character customization is not quite as in depth as I would have liked. But other than that this game is fantastic and welcome break from COD and it's clones. The parkour is fun and adds a new element to the game play. Yes there is practically zero story just a background story of conflict, however if you are willing to just play a OBJECTIVE based, TEAM oriented online shooter either in co-op or versus there is plenty of enjoyment to have. Here is hoping they iron out some of the latency issues and add some DLC support.

Mortal Kombat (2011)

Generally it takes a lot for a video game to impress me, but Mortal Kombat has done it. I picked it up after work yesterday and played from about 8pm-1am straight, disregarding that I had to be up at 6:30am this morning for work because I was hooked. I grew up with the first Mortal Kombats (1&2) and lost interest after that, this game has just enough nostalgia and plenty of new content. It is fully loaded fighter unlike most of the bare bones fighters nowadays (MvC3, SSFIV etc). There are some issues such as some hit detection issues, and balance in single player but nothing has frustrated me yet. But overall this is a complete fighting game with tons of content and replayability not only online but offline as well which is extremely rare to find in fighters. I am casual fighting fan (I get my rear end handed to me online consistently in any fighter) and I love this game, though probably won't play much of the online for that very reason.

I downloaded this game when it was on sale without trying the demo as it was on the cheap. This game is just awful. The controls are unresponsive, weapons are awful and ineffective, the enemies have no variety, and it is a very frustrating game. While it is an interesting premise being "microbot" that kills infections in the body/blood. That is the only thing going for it. It is not a broken game just very frustrating and boring. Avoid at all costs.

Test Drive Unlimited 2

Test Drive Unlimited 2 does a lot of things. It is a racer, has a casino, avatar/car customization, houses, exploration, discovery, collecting, hidden secrets, miles upon miles of roads and cars, however it does not do any of these things particularly well. I loved the first Test Drive Unlimited and played it for 100+ hours, however I could not stomach more than 10 hours with this game. The driving is stale and unexciting, the avatars and clunky and rigid and look horrible. There are too many bugs to count. Unfortunately it is a broken game and even if a patch was released to fix this game it would still not be above a 6. I hate to compare to other games but for racing fans there are so many more better games out there worthy of your money and I hate to say it being such a big fan of the first Test Drive but this one is not worth your investment.

Fable III

This game feels like a chore to play. While there is some enjoyment to be found the repetition, bugs, stale combat, and poor development designs dominate most of the game. The combat is very unenjoyable and down right frustrating some times with hit detection problems riddled in the melee, and guns, magic is over powered and the path of least resistance though gets repetitous very quickly. Exploration is very tedious, with the dog barking every 2 seconds for a dig spot where you get a very little amount of gold, and the rewards of exploration are not worth the time invested. The good/evil choices while they do have a great impact once you become king/queen it all really feels tacked on and not cohesive whatsoever. I did enjoy making the choices, holding court, and amassing wealth. The family system is terrible and investing in properties and business is more streamlined (you can do it through the map) it is not enjoyable. There is some fun to be had in Fable 3, but you have to deal with a large portion of excrement in this buggy, disjointed, and non-cohesive adventure.

Super Meat Boy is delightfully frustrating, surprisingly deep, charming, and very addictive. 1 point off for some serious frustration, but this game will dig it's meaty claws into you which will have you itching to complete just 1 more level with an A+ ranking and collect that last band aid.

This game is truly addicting. Starts out basic and becomes surprisingly complex. The plants and zombies are charming and funny. Lots of options on how to tackle challenges, many game modes, a lot of depth with zombies and plants, customizable house, grow your own plants, and unlockables.I have spent more hours on this game than any other recent release. A definite must have for xbox live arcade fans. One down fall is no online multiplayer support. That was not a deal breaker for me, but I can see online enthusiast's being turned away by it, however there is so much to do in single player that this game will keep you entertained for hours and hours even with no online.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero

User ScoreRedXIII

Dead Rising: Case Zero is a strange beast, while many are arguing it is a demo you have to pay for, while I can understand this argument, it is a stand alone prologue to Dead Rising 2 with achievements, and a whole independent storyline setting up for the full game release. I thoroughly enjoyed Case Zero. It is meant to be played through multiple times which is fine as it only lasts 2 hours and you can do different things during each playthrough. The time limit your first play through it brutal, once you are familiar with the town and objectives it is easy to achieve every objective in one play through (I did on my second). The gameplay is almost the exact of the original dead rising with a improvements, the graphics leave something to be desired but this in an "arcade" release. The new weapons are fun, and the item combo system while limited is fun. Picking up a broadsword and just hacking through masses of zombies never gets old. There are some mediocre platform elements (climbing up to roofs) but not enough to ruin the game. There are multiple endings, and easy achievements to boot. Overall this game is a good set up for the full retail Dead Rising 2 this month, however it is limited, but well worth the $5.

I enjoyed this game. I was able to beat the single player campaign on normal in just over 3 hours, a very intense, albeit short experience. It is very action heavy with minimal story. I turned off the shaky camera and the graphics suite the action and story well. The story was good, but a little disappointing, *spoiler* especially near the end. The multiplayer is a lot of fun when you can find a good game. Most games there is lag and you see people drifting around and floating etc, but when you get a good game with a host with a good connection it is very intense and fun, especially undercover cop, and fragile alliance. Cops and robbers is ok, but pretty much a team deathmatch with loot, I didn't enjoy that mode at all. I am hoping they patch the match making as some times it is difficult to find a game with constant lobby closing, and hosting a game takes far to long to get a full lobby. If they fix the lag issues as well the multiplayer experience would be top notch, but how it is I would only reccommend for fans of the series as most everything needs a slight fix. I really enjoyed the single player, but was left a little disappointment, the multiplayer is fun when it works.
