The Slormancer7
Jun 18, 2025
I was honestly surprised by Slormancer - I approached this game with little expectations, and ended up having a great time. If you're an aRPG fan, and need a break from the "top players" on the market, Slormancer can grant you exactly that. So, what's good? + Character customization. You can feel that the choices you make (skills you choose, items you equip, etc.) matter. Multiple skills feel good to use, and there are multiple ways you can build your character around them. + Awesome "quality of life" features in the game. Transferring craft materials just by pressing one click is something some of the top aRPGs on the market lack. The game also introduced a mechanic to automatically dismantle items you don't want on the run, solving a problem that most other aRPGs have been stuck with for more than 20 years now. This, and many others, make it truly remarkable. + Multiple activities you can enjoy. The endgame system in Slormancer can compete with top aRPGs on the market, and the gameplay loop is quite fun... sure, it becomes repetitive, but the same goes for every game of this genre. And time for the "not so good" part: - Unclear mechanics. The game introduces multiple mechanics where it's not clear how they work. You can find some definitions for them, but you don't have a reliable way to test them. This, combined with the fact that there are lots of those mechanics even in the early game, makes it a little less fun to some people, including myself. - Balance. While all three classes have great builds you can make, there are some "dead end" builds that feel bad. Thankfully, respecing in this game is not problematic at all. - Pixel Art style doesn't work well for many elements of this game - many icons (e.g., skills, items) are unclear about what they represent, creating a visual mess. The game creators tried to create many unique types of little pixel pictures, and you have dozens of those small icons on your screen. Pixel art games work way better with simplistic imagery, and trying to replicate a typical aRPG into this style makes it visually messy even compared to games from early 1990s.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty9

An amazing expansion to an already great game. Phantom Liberty (and patch 2.0) brings plenty of great mechanics to the game, and - more importantly - a new amazing storyline. The only downside? Well, we had to wait way too long for it.

Diablo IV3

I waited for Season 1 to give this game proper feedback, and my intention was to give it a solid 8/10, but in light of recent changes introduced by the game developers, I changed my mind. A 3/10 is the best I can do. Slaughtering hellish legions is fun to the point where you ask yourself "What else is there for me?". Endgame is lacking, but it's normal for a game that has been just released, so people were waiting for new content that was promised by Blizzard. Instead, we got the 1.1 patch that butchered the game for many. The problem is this patch has taken lots of things from the players that made the game fun for them, and given nothing substantial in return. You could have spent a hundred hours building your character to work the way you want using the rules available, and now it's pretty much useless and requires a grand rebuild (respec that cost in-game resources, as well as looting new items). It's not that the game enabled new, better builds you may want to consider - your current character got nerfed to the ground not allowing you to enjoy the content you were enjoying just a day before. One day you log in, play, and have fun, the next you get slaughtered by a random white mob out of nowhere and you don't know what's happening. An awful experience for casual players and not a pleasant one for pros either. What is worse, some classes' design is simply broken. Looking at the Sorc class, there are basically no significant choices you can make, and the only viable playstyle for endgame activities is "Stun-Kill / if doesn't work run around until the next stun is available". It seems Blizz wanted to address this as well, but instead, they've just nerfed this type of build to the ground while offering no alternatives and making the Sorcerer class significantly weaker than all other classes... just two days before the season starts and people were making plans to go for this class. At the same time, none of the quality of life issues people were asking for even before the release were addressed. Stash is a mess, the game is basically a garbage management system where you drop 30 items and spend time thinking if any of them are worth keeping, because if you don't you will run out of storage space really quickly. For a game that was in design for 10 years not being able to provide a solution some games had 10 years ago is scandalous. It seems as if there was a team working on matching digits in Excel who never actually experienced the game and had no idea what they were doing. There seems to be no real plan for how the game should be balanced, and since the release they've been just changing the numbers chaotically in the hope it will somehow get better. Instead of fixing the core of these issues, they just keep adding or subtracting digits. And while I understand they may still address this, these were to be addressed BEFORE the game launch. It doesn't require a degree in rocket science to understand how the game you're designing works, and if you learn it after the game is released and decide to take away what makes the game fun for people, you have to also accept the consequences with the review of your game dropping significantly and players moving away (aka not spending money on your "live service" anymore). Additionally, this is the first Diablo game that took away the option to play single-player from people, which is an absolute nightmare and causes tons of problems.

A solid RPG and a great game in general. So far, it's one of my favorite RPGs of all time, just behind the ME trilogy and Witcher 3. Negatives? Well, two main ones: - The game storyline could have been much better by adding a couple of options, including romances and dialogues. It was clear they rushed not only the technical side of the game but also the story in many aspects. For an RPG it simply doesn't offer you enough variety. - CDPR did a terrible job at managing people's expectations. Many people were disappointed as they were expecting a different type ****... Ba! People were actually this is an RPG, not an FPS.

A really nice remaster of the beloved ME trilogy! It's still one of the best RPGs of all time, and definitely my favourite RPG series keeping my favourite character throughout three games. There are some glitches, but it's nothing game breaking. It's a pitty there were so many problems with dubs, but I wouldn't give this game a negative rate because of it - you can still enjoy it with English dub and subtitles in your own language.

Mass Effect: Andromeda4

A nice RPG that allows you to build a colony in a galaxy far, far away. The gameplay is nice, even though they were plenty of known bugs that were never fixed. Unfortunately, the storyline is a bit childish, predictable, and - in some places - incosistent. The idea of exploring a dangerous, new galaxy and meeting an unknown race that you can't communicate with was exciting, but ended up with your AI being able to quickly translate languages so there's no more mystery or "first contact" issues. Exploration is also flattened to a level of "Cold Planet, Warm Yourself". It could have been so much more than this. What is more, BioWare quickly abandoned this game due to backlash and caused more backlash among those who actually enjoyed the experience. It was especially painful for those who focused on multiplayer, invested their time and money, and got a product that was worse than what the previous game (ME3) offered. As a fan of the Mass Effect trilogy, I was heavily disappointed with what Andromeda offered. It seemed as if they had a nice idea that they turned into a generic "good guys, bad guys" game and then threw it away.

A really nice MTG experience you can enjoy on your smartphone, but with a bad monetization system. + A way to enjoy MTG from home with a much better interface than MTG Online. + Easy to find opponents. + A meaningful progression system - you can actually get booster packs and build decks by playing the game. - Limited number of formats. You can't enjoy fan favorite Commander on Arena, and you don't have access to commander cards. Instead, there is Brawl that feels like a crippled version of Commander/EDH. - Monetization is bad. Like... REALLY BAD. You can enjoy the game for free or spending very little on it (e.g. welcome pack), but your deckbuilding options will be very limited. Then, if you would like to honor the creators and actually spend some cash your options are really bad - you can spend as much as you would for a triple A game and you won't be able to make a single deck out of it. I'm at a point where I'm missing some critical cards for what I'd like to make, and am willing to spend some cash, but the options I see in shop are outrageous.

Diablo Immortal2

Sadly, I'm disappointed with Diablo Immortal and Blizzard. After spending about 30 hours in the game, I'm frustrated because this could have been a really awesome game if it wasn't to awful, predatory practices Blizzard implemented. - Forced multiplayer ruins the experience. You walk around and see other players that bring no value to your gameplay, but you have to wait for your screen to load all of them around. It occasionally causes lag spikes, especially when a player is fighting "shadows" (quest mobs that they can see but you can't). It's the first Diablo game that doesn't allow you to enjoy the game the way you like, but instead forces you into the pseudo-open-world, MMO-like experience, where you loose quality only so that you can see other players that fill half of your screen and bring nothing valuable to the gameplay. Mobs spawn when you talk to NPCs breaking your dialogues. - Noise, noise everywhere. Chatbox is basically a Spambox for all companies who are trying to sell you things. A significant part of your UI is there only to promote the online shop and buying online currencies. - Microtransactions are simply awful. Finished a dungeon? How about you spend a buck so you'll get 8x the reward and you don't have to grind another one? You can pay as much as for the triple game and to get a lot of items, but it's still not enough to complete your character. So you have to spend more, and more, and more... Good sides of the game? + Interesting options to build your character in a fun and interesting way (unfortunately, to get those, you have to either mindlessly grind or pay money to have a chance of getting what you want) + Graphics are amazing for a mobile game.
