Alien: Isolation10

As a fan of the original Alien, I found this entry to be incredibly immersive and true to the film, even inspirational in a way that HR Giger would have been extremely proud. This is certainly not a game for people with ADD or compulsive disorders (i.e. people who enjoy CoD, Halo and the like) and I can understand why they would feel disappointed. It's because they were expecting an FPS and move around too much, too fast and probably die incessantly as a consequence. For those of us that like to immerse ourself in a world, take a long Sunday drive, and take in the little details, this game is exactly what we've been looking for. And the fact that it does this while staying so true to Alien form is very impressive. I've been gaming for many decades and I can honestly say that this game made me feel like it was 2003 and I was playing Metroid Prime for the first time. If you know what I'm talking about, tarry not and buy this game. To Creative Assembly: A sincere thank you from the bottom of my heart. This masterpiece is a true work of art. Please remember those of us that love it when you contemplate a second.

There are some really good elements to this game, and there are loads of content on this disk. That said, it does get kind of monotonous as time progresses and the graphics look rather muddy and hexagonal. All together though, pretty fun to play and should be good for several weeks of fun.

Horribly boring game. There are about 10 maps and all of the gameplay is against other run and gunners online. No strategy whatsoever - just kill, die, respawn, wait till end of mission, repeat. I beat the game in an hour (i.e. all of the levels) and I could only replay each one a few times before I wanted to return the game. Story? What story? I'm told to go in that direction and kill as much as I can before I die - got it. Laughable how anyone could enjoy this for more than 10 hours. Anyone who does is mindless.

"Reviewers are not allowed to review the game" That's all you should need to know about this game. Let me start by giving a big shout out to Twitch - for saving me $70. I watched a guy on there live streaming Destiny today for a good 9 hours and I have to be honest, this game is boring as hell. Oh, and I have no idea what the game is about. Lore? Sure lots of it - just never see it. Aka: BS. Remember this: Destiny is Halo without a story. Remember that kids because it's going to be said many times by many people over the next few months. The reviewers know that its a mediocre game but they have to hold back on reviewing it formally to give Bungie a few more sales - because they (the reviewers helped to convince us that this game would be amazing). But don't fall for it guys, there's nothing more to this game and I guarantee the reviewers (barring a few good ones) will come out giving this 9/10+...just like they did with Titanfail - and this is worse. And before anyone says: "hey man you gotta give this game more time", all I ask is (a) "when have reviewers ever given more than a day to review the game and held off because a developer asked them to" and (b) "who needs more than 9 hours to determine whether a game ****"? If it honestly takes me more than an hour to figure out that a game blows, then I think I've got bigger problems than a crappy game. I'm not saying that it's a zero - it's not. But it honestly plays exactly like Halo with some minor customization (albeit irrelevant because all 3 classes play exactly the same way) and even has the same kiddie looking enemies (bright colors, etc.) just like Halo. But there's the problem - we were told it was going to revolutionize gaming. People won't forget that. It's betrayal. Consequently, I think this one will go down as the BIGGEST letdown and marketing fist-**** that has ever been released in the history of gaming - bigger than Aliens Colonial Marines. Companies will be sued. $500 Million to make this? Let me rephrase that: half a BILLION duckets. Where do you think they're coming from? Check your wallet and keep it in your pocket. Do not buy. This is the definition of white-collar fraud in the 21st century.
