Clair Obscur took me back to my childhood playing FFVIII for the first time, being awestruck by the visuals and engulfed by the adventure. I play many games and none of managed to **** me in like this, absolutely amazing. I cannot wait to see what Sandfall do next!

For anyone with an interest in roguelike deck builders, StarVaders is easy to recommend. The ever-growing flood of similar titles can make it a bit of a slog to find something unique and exciting. The good news, StarVaders is one such title. Initially, it looks like a simple tactics / space-invaders inspired romp, the player using cards to move and attack in an effort to prevent the baddies from reaching the bottom. The core loop is simple and fun, easy to understand, and satisfying to execute. With time, the hidden depth of the game starts to shine through that will keep you coming back.

I’m surprised and a little confused as to why this was even released physically. It feels like an asset flip cash grab. This game has absolutely no soul in it. You fly from point A to point B, slowly making money so that you can upgrade / buy new planes that you can continue to fly from point A to B but to islands which are further away. That’s it. No story. No reason. Just grind to grind. Flying involves just pointing in the right direction and putting the controller down until you’re there. The only excitement this game offers is land, excitement being an exaggeration, it’s barely a challenge. The only music is one song in the main menu which means the whole time you’re pretty much listening to the engine sound loop. Graphics look uninspired like an asset flip, there isn’t even a pilot in the plane. When you’re walking around you can’t even walk around the islands or even the buildings on the runways. Wow. I’m glad I got this second hand. I feel very, very, very sorry for anyone who paid full price for this trash. Avoid this game.
