This show embodies everything wrong with "modern" television. When I first saw the trailer for this, I thought surely this is some kind of comedy/parody about the real show Spartacus, mocking the absurdity & silliness of social propaganda programing but no, its just another in a very very long list of recent DEI enforced failures.
They killed this show when they blindly cast Bella Ramsey as Ellie. She literally looks like a special needs kid failing miserably at cosplay. I mean its almost unbelievable how bad she is at acting but to butcher one of the most beloved & endearing video game character's ever, with Bella's "acting" which just looks like she's attempting to emulate the worlds most annoying & spoiled child ever. One can only assume she was casted because she has downs syndrome & claims to be "non-binary". Ding ding ding, score 2 points for HBO's diversity initiative which only amounts to casting another spoiled & entitled white girl & screaming that its progress. Im pretty liberal & dont align with the right on hardly anything but seeing crap like this over & over again, Trump's win makes more sense everyday.
Ellie is one of the most beloved video game characters of all time & to cast Bella Ramsey for her role is a really bad joke. There are so many other qualified legit actresses that would have been perfect for her role I cant help but wonder if there was nepotism involved in her casting. I cringe every time she tries to mimic Ellie, its not even close to working. Bill was an awesome character in the game, I could care less that he was gay but the episodes hour & 15 minute love story was boring, uninteresting & cut out one of the better parts of the game. The worst part is seeing the mainstream media discrediting any online criticism as "review bombing" or "homophobia". Im %100 liberal but I am sick & tired of the entertainment industry trying to insert itself as the main battlefield in the culture wars. It's almost as if they're trying to alienate people who aren't on the fringe. If you expect this show to pull on your heart stings like the game you will likely be annoyed & disappointed. It could, better yet should have been a lot better than this.
