As an XCOM and turn-based strategy game veteran this game MUST be avoided at all costs! The RNG is insanely wild. I had 1 mission go perfectly, but I guess it went too perfectly as on the next mission all my shots would miss and the computer hit all of their shots. I never had a mission go so bad, even when learning the game. This was immensely frustrating. Anyone who rated the game good has no idea what they are talking about. Disregard all positive reviews. This is the only review you need.

The phrase "that's XCOM baby" should be replaced with "that's Front Mission baby". I love turn-based strategy games, but I absolutely hate Front Mission first remake. The RNG is just absolutely brutal and frustrating, On my turn, I will miss half of my shots even the I am taking the highest chance shots I can. It is such a brutal grind repeating turn after turn only for your units to keep missing. Then you run into a boss enemy and one of your parts gets one shotted. So not a whole lot of tactics or strategy on the go here. While there are lots of parts in the game you will only use a handful of them. Add a very meh story and the grinding you have to do in the arenas to have money to buy parts and it is a horrible game.

I want to give this game a high score, but there are several factors that force me to score it low. The RNG for attack accuracy is just brutal. One bad roll and the mission will be a failure. I missed 2 tank shots on a tanks weak spot in a row. Then my engineer gets one-shotted by an enemy Lancer from long range. The rankings system is based solely on the number of turns taken. In one mission you can get an A-Rank by running one unit through the enemy lines. Pretty much to do well you need to load the mission, take one turn and then start the missions again. Skill is barely a factor in this game. The story is awesome and the characters are very likeable. There is a load of content which is great. It is all let down though by my earlier points. This review is definitive and the only one worth listening to. Those who game this game a 10 are fanboys.

This is a game I want to love, but sadly I have to give it a very low score. Based on the 2 demos I would have given it an excellent score, but you can't tell enough from the demos. Firstly there is the insane grind. You have to do way too many mock battles to level up so you stand a chance at fighting the main story missions. A mission will say recommended lv. 21, but there will be multiple enemies lv 23 and 2 levels make a massive difference in Triangle strategy. For a game that seems like there is lots of opportunity for replays, you will not want to as you have to grind way too much. Then extra enemies that show up in missions. This is normally fine. Except in one mission, it results in a third of your force being wiped out with no chance to save them. When you need to have advanced knowledge to complete a mission you know the game is bad. In one mission the Boss enemies and many of the regular enemies just sit there and don't take any action! What is the point of this? It serves no purpose. I really wish I waited to get a hard copy, but I made the mistake of buying a digital version. It is not a good game and all these positive ratings are simply wrong!
