Alan Wake7

Alan Wake is a very Stephen Kingish and Twin Peaks like action/horror game that tells a story of a writer on holiday where things go very wrong. This isn't a game for everyone, but with its flaws I still enjoyed it very much. Gameplay in Alan wake is a mixed bag for me. Shooting feels fresh, you have to first point with your flashlight and then shoot the enemies but at the same time it's way too easy sometimes. There are only a couple of enemy types, I would have liked more. There are too some dodging mechanics, but it feels clunky and not good. But oh how it feels when you manage to make a good dodge. I think I would have liked combat a lot more if it were more challenging and had more variety. For example there are only 4 types of enemies, and I would like more different guns and gameplay mechanics. In the 2 dlc episodes, there is some environmental fighting, using gas pipes to blow up enemies' style. I would like that in the main game too. There is also too much combat, and this should have been a more horror game than action game. Don't come to this game expecting the best combat in video game history, but instead some okay, fun, sometimes feeling a little bit blank combat. This is in my opinion the worst area in Alan Wake. The environment is a mixed bag for me as well. I didn’t personally like any forest area in this game, it felt copy pasted and boring. But any other environment that wasn’t a forest, I really enjoyed. My favorite place was Bright Falls. Exploration is sometimes useful, a lot of the time i found myself in very odd places looking for something that isn’t there. I would like more things to cheer for exploring. The whole environment for this game is very good, matching the game's atmosphere even if I didn’t like it all the time The characters in this game were okay, nobody shined over others and they all felt pretty natural. Nothing good to say, but at the same time there isn’t any bad character. The character I liked most, was our protagonist, Alan Wake. There is just some charm in him, but I would like more comments on him from the events of the game while playing. The best thing about this game I would say are cutscenes. They were interesting, every time something happened to make the story forward. Pacing in this game feels odd in this game. It follows a show-like structure, and I didn't like the structure very much. Alan Wake consists of 6 episodes. I didn't like the first 3, it felt boring and uninteresting. It really clicked for me in episode 4 and it lasted all until the end. I played it for around 12 hours, so it isn't the longest game. I think it could have been a shorter game in my opinion, there is some filler in the game. But now to the best part about this game, the story that it tells. It's different from any other story game that I have played, and I liked it very much. The ending was great, and the journey to the ending was very good. You should definitely play this, if you respect some unique story with awesome telling and cutscenes. In the end, Alan Wake is a game that is carried by its strong story and atmosphere. If you like story games, and you don't get annoyed by some awful combat and repetitive environments, you should give it a try. 7/10

My 4th favorite game of all time. Gameplay is best, it's so different and refreshing. Story is in my opinion very good, characters are best, and setting is scary and cool at same time. Very interesting light rpg, shooter game that every one should try at least one time.
