*DISCLAIMER* I haven't played online or MyCareer yet, so this only from a MyGM mode and exhibition game standpoint. I liked last years game for being easy to pick up, get into and play without issue. 2K16 takes the simple gameplay, adds some small nuances to make it better, add difficulty to making shots and driving to the basket, and ultimately made the game better. The MyGM is robust and adds a lot of features that is going to add many hours or game time, making it as thorough as any other season or GM mode from any sports game. The presentation is beautiful and the music adds a great vibe to the game. Of course, I haven't played online or the Career Mode, but I will soon.

Guitar Hero Live

Guitar Hero Live is weird, in more ways than one. On first impression, the guitar is confusing, with 6 buttons total, 3 buttons stacked over 3 more buttons, essentially using your index, middle and ring fingers and moving them from top to bottom. It is a challenge, and I'm fine with that, but I think the fun factor is taken out. I mastered the 5 button layout, but was always challenged with certain songs, and challenged by trying to get 100% on each song. So the challenge is there, but I feel like no matter how much practice I put into this, I may never get to the expert level of it. 2nd point, the soundtrack isn't all that deep. A lot of the songs are from the last 10 years, and seem to cater to a more modern audience, which is OK and understandable. But, for a game called Guitar Hero, some better songs featuring heavier guitar would be nice, and something that spans a few decades would be nice. The hardware for the guitar is mostly nice. It's light, and easy to use, but the strum bar is loud when playing, almost to the point of annoyance. I think this has been a recurring theme for Guitar Hero guitars over Rock Band guitars, and it seems to be continuing. The 2 things I really like are the presentation of the songs, in music video form or in live crowd form, and the GHTV feature are really nice. The presentation gives a different feel that no GH or Rock Band game has given before, while the GHTV, in the same right, gives a feature that hasn't been done before either. All in all, it's hard to discredit Activision and all involved with GH Live for trying to make this different and unique, because they succeed in that respect. But, in doing so, the fun isn't there as it once was and because of it, I think Rock Band 4 may be the better game,

Having read the terrible reviews about the last gen version of this game, I was hopeful that the next gen version would get more attention and time, and it did, but the game is flawed and broken in some areas. The gameplay itself is decent. I like the changes made, I like that it is slowed down and realistic, and simpler than in the past. However, some core functions in the gameplay are broken. For instance, pinning, or getting pinned really, has been a nightmare. The bar moves WAY too fast and it can be impossible to kick out, even when your wrestler isn't terribly damaged. It's happened enough to me where it is a problem, and I hope an update comes out to fix it. I've played through most of the 2K showcase and think it's a really nice mode. They do a really good job of capturing the essence of the feuds. However, the game has errored out and kicked back to the PS home screen a few times now, and it can be frustrating. Again, hoping an update clears that. I haven't played the game online yet, but I can imagine that it may be broken too. The graphics are definitely nice, and most of the wrestlers look like the real thing. Avoid the last gen, and pick up this game at some point, maybe wait until some needed updates are done.

It gets an 8 from me. It's a good game, the gameplay is solid, fluid, it's definitely more challenging than recent games, and the reversing mechanics are harder (which is good). The roster is great, a good mix of new and old. I haven't finished the 30 years of Wrestlemania, but I love what i've seen so far, and I know it'll only get better as I go on. My biggest gripe so far is with the online play, and this seems to be the case every year. I know, it's only been a couple of days, and I will give them a chance to fix the mess, but a lot of these issues have been going on for years. I've played matches with family where the match "splits", meaning that I see something different on my screen then they do. This causes some W-L records in ranked to be way off, and it just isn't a good experience. Secondly, the game hasn't been out for too long, and yet there are players (I assume low life glitchers or cheats) already ranked at the top with crazy W-L records. There's got to be a way to get those players out of there. Lastly, and this happened to my cousin, this may be a complaint more with Gamestop than with the developers, but something to note. If you buy the season pass, make sure you're charged for $22. If they charge you $20, you can't get the season pass, as it comes out to $20 TAX. Why some Gamestops are doing this? No idea.

I'm usually one of the first to crap on any game in the CoD series, and it has been very easy to do so, but I couldn't this time. For the first time since CoD 4, I actually don't feel overwhelmed in the online multiplayer. I don't feel like i'm surrounded by a bunch of hacks and whatnot. They seemed to have done something to the balance online, and I'm glad they did. The story is the same old song and dance, and Zombies mode has certainly become a little more objective oriented, but i'm actually enjoying this game.

I think the Amazing Spider-Man is hit and miss. I think the story is decent, and combat is reminiscent of the recent Batman games (which is a plus). I like the collectible comics, I like the different bosses and characters you get to fight in the game, and I really like the sandbox kind of game it can be at times. However, there are some quirks to the game. Sometimes when you attempt to evade an attack via web, the camera angle goes all over the place, making it hard to control. Same goes for simply crawling on the wall, the camera angle will lead to confusion. Also, it isn't always evident where or what you have to do next. It can lead to you going back and forth for a bit until you're back on track. I really enjoy the game though, it's as fun and enticing as the last couple of Spider-Man games. I'm still waiting for a great game, still waiting for an "Arkham Asylum/City" breakthrough for Spidey.

Being a big wrestling fan, i'm always anticipating the next WWE game (even if i'm not as big of a fan of them). Every year the game comes out, I play it endlessly, like it for a few weeks and can't seem to get into it afterwards. This year, though time will tell, we may have a game that I could play for a while. I love the new Attitude Era mode, finally getting rid of their boring Road to Wrestlemania. WWE Universe is back and looks better than anything they've done with it, after virtually leaving it untouched in last years game. The gameplay itself is a bit slower than in years past, and maybe that's a good thing. I haven't tried out the online mode but i'm sure that's still the same mess as in years past, so I won't even include that in this review. The roster is certainly at its best since Smackdown: HCTP, so many wrestlers to choose from. I've only found about 2 flaws so far (i'm sure there are more) with gameplay and Attitude Era mode. The gameplay still has some bugs, some AI issues, but these are things that could be fixed with an eventual patch. As for Attitude Era mode, the objectives can be somewhat tedious and if you end up playing on Legend difficulty, they can be ridiculous to get and you'll find yourself restarting the match a couple of times. No more complaining, WWE 13 is great.

Having never played Minecraft on PC, but knowing of the phenomenon it was and still is, I see why it's been so revered. Downloaded the game and 6 hours later, I did not realize 6 hours went by. While the concept of it is very simple and there isn't exactly that much out of the ordinary, it's very easy to get into and very easy to find yourself addicted. Obviously playing alone doesn't give you the full experience, so playing with friends or other people in general is necessary. It's only knock is that I feel that the enemies can be a bit overwhelming. I understand your character is a lonely "inventor" of sorts, but it **** that as soon as nightfall hits, it's either station myself in one place or attempt to scavenge for more supplies and get easily killed. Enemies come in bunches and are terribly difficult to get rid of, and this is on easy difficulty. Other than that, i'm hooked.

I won't lie to you, MLB 12 is the exact same game from last year with minor tweaks and one new game mode. But that's not a bad thing really. MLB 12 is leaps and bounds ahead of MLB 2K12 in terms of just authenticity alone, even by repeating the same formula. Everything looks and feels great, the graphics and controls are still great, haven't found any glitches or bugs in the game. Season mode and Franchise mode are still as addicting as ever. I haven't tested out Diamond Dynasty mode just yet, but i'm sure it's just as addicting as the other modes.

I'm a big Tennis buff, and I know that when it comes to Tennis Games, they're out there, they're just not good. I enjoy Virtua Tennis and Top Spin, but they certainly are not completely authentic to the sport the way other sports games are to their sport. Out comes Grand Slam Tennis 2 and I think it's the most authentic Tennis game out. It bodes a nice roster, mixed with current stars and past legends, it's nice to have both. The graphics are very good, animations are on point. My problems lie within 2 pretty big modes if you ask me. The online mode and the Career mode. Obviously, the game can lag and certainly does and it hurts the game. It's not fun hitting the ball with a delay, sometimes even missing the ball when you were in position to hit it. On top of that, players tend to rush the net a lot, looking for easy, cheap points. Can I fault the game for that? Not sure. The career mode, like many career modes, provides a good amount of customization and realism to it, but damn is it boring. I love Tennis, but this process is so elongated and winning matches becomes way too easy, too fast.

I play the NBA 2K series every year, I usually love the new games right away but I had a harder time falling in love with this game. That could be due to the lockout and not having the updated rosters, but even after all that was settled, it still took me a while. I guess I was used to certain things that made the game a bit easier to play. The fact that there was a button to use the hopstep made things easier for me, as well as having the pick and roll in the playbook also made the game easier. They certainly made the AI (not Allen Iverson) a lot smarter, much better on the defensive end. The games biggest flaw is having players hit open shots 100% of the time. It doesn't make sense, if you watch NBA games, you clearly see that because the player is wide open, doesn't mean he is going to knock down the shot all the time. Another thing I didn't like was player tendencies. For example, Tyson Chandler doesn't take jump shots. He's a low post guy. Why is it that i've seen him take more jump shots than down low hooks and lay ups? On the positive side, My Player mode is tremendous, I love what they've done with it, as well as the Creating a Legend mode. Both of those modes alone will consume a lot of time and are extremely worth it. Also, I love the NBAs greatest mode, being able to play as the legends and have it look like you're watching them from back in the day is awesome. I wish other sports games would take after NBA 2K12 in that sense.

For me, L.A. Noire is one of those games that is very hard not to like. At one point or another in our childhood, we've either wanted to be a detective or played being a detective with our friends and L.A. Noire just allows you to be one. The game has its faults but they are few and far between and nothing that would make this game bad. Driving can be a little hectic, even if you put the siren on, cars tend to not move, people tend to still not care. Also, things can get kind of linear at times. The side missions always involve you shooting someone whose either robbed a bank or gotten into some kind of dispute. The great things about the game is just the experience of playing as a cop. Finding clues, questioning suspects, shootouts, trying to find the right person to charge, that whole experience is brilliant. The graphics are great, the people and their facial expressions are great, overall great game.

Probably one of the more addicting games out there, it's hard not to love Left 4 Dead 2. Most people think it's a rushed sequel to a great game and that it fails in comparison to the original, but in almost every category Left 4 Dead 2 is better. The only think that Left 4 Dead 2 doesn't measure up to Left 4 Dead in is characters. In L4D, we had memorable characters who had real life to them but in this game, they seem almost as dead as the zombies. Other than that, L4D2 shines above L4D. More maps at launch, tougher difficulties, more game modes, new infected, weekly updates, you can't go wrong.

Being a huge baseball fan and gamer, it's never been too difficult to find an MLB game that has the authenticity and stays true to the game, at least not in the last few years with MLB The Show around. No game has me as hooked as this game does. Everything is pretty much how baseball is. All the players are there, and if they're not, then you can do a roster update as it becomes available and you're set. Season and Franchise are both just as addicting as ever with small updates. Road to the Show is just as real and a great mode as the others. I can't say enough about this game, it's a must have for all baseball fans.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Gears of War before part 2, I honestly never played part 1. I really enjoyed part 2 and that's what started my craze, if you can call it that, with Gears of War. Once part 3 came out, it was over. I've never played a game where each level is like its own mini war, with all the back and forth action, it's crazy. It's not exactly story driven like others have said, but if you're looking for a game with a great engine and tremendous action, Gears of War 3 is the game.

When I heard about Sonic generations, I wasn't completely stoked but I did like what I saw within the trailers and what not. I'm glad to see that everything panned out for this game, giving gamers a feel for both ways that Sonic games have been played. Having two different Sonics, two different methods of playing the game really makes it a complete game. Also, as a note to people who put up reviews: If you say a game is not perfect, don't give it the perfect 10 rating. It throws readers off.

It's hard to give this a review that will really justify the game, only because it was probably hard to make a game that wouldn't be compared to its classic original (and no, not that crappy Wii version). While this version of the game is certainly well above the game that the Wii put out, it still misses that special feeling to it. It feels like a modern shooting game, which by any standard really doesn't help it at all. I don't feel any nostalgia when I play the game, even though obviously things have changed in the shooter genre since Goldeneye first came out. The graphics aren't much better than the Wii version and it looks even worse online for some reason. Not that I hate the game, I just unfairly maybe be expecting more of what made the N64 game so great and less of what crowds the modern shooter genre.

I just bought a 3DS this weekend and it was the Mario 3DS bundle, so naturally I was hoping that the game that the system came with would be really good, and it's tremendous. Of course, it's a Mario game and if you come in expecting anything different, then of course you may get bored with the game and you may not like it. But for those who know what every Mario game entails, then you're going to absolutely love it. The 3D effects are pretty cool, giving you a couple of different perspectives of how 3D can be used. The game isn't all that difficult, but has any Mario game really been all too challenging? You'll still end up dying over petty things, falling off the level or accidentally jumping into a pit of fire but the game isn't too rough.

I think the SVR series has needed a reboot of sorts for a while now. Churning out the same game over and over while fixing almost nothing every year wasn't the right formula. Though i was a bit critical when I heard they were completely retooling everything about the game, only because I thought the game would get worse, i'm glad I can eat my words and admit how great **** this is. The controls have been revamped again, only this time it's a little more classic than modern. The presentation and graphics are pretty good, for the most part capturing what a WWE telecast looks like. The reversal system is great, making it a little harder to reverse and demanding that you have some sort of skill in order to pull off reversals. The online modes have been tinkered with as well, seeming like THQ actually cares about the online community and it making sure that the cheaters, glitchers and hacks are kept off the game. I'm sure they're still around though. Nonetheless, it's one of the better wrestling game i've played.

Being one of the more anticipated games of the year definitely put a lot of pressure on the creators of the game, but they deliver big time. While I enjoyed Arkham Asylum, I didn't think it was the game that most were telling me it was. It was a very simplistic beat em up kind of game for me, though I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Arkham City on the other hand changed everything for me. I love the idea of being able to go from place to place within the city, though it gets kind of annoying to handle side missions while already on a main mission. Other than that, this game packs a lot of action, memorable enemies and just loads of content that should keep everyone busy for a little while with it.
