If you miss exhilarating, mind-blowing cinema, this film is for you. A sci-fi thrill ride that is hilarious and heartwarming, "Everything Everywhere" will be on everyone's mind come Oscars 2023. Michelle Yeoh gives a career-defining performance, and the rest of the cast is right there with her, especially the legendary James Hong and Jamie Lee Curtis, who will also factor in the Supporting Actress category. Don't try to know too much ahead of time - let it grab you by the lapels and take you on an incredible 2+ hour cinematic ride!

"The Gentlemen" is a terrifically entertaining film - all of the acting is perfect, the script is sharp and wickedly funny like "Snatch" before **** there are strong echoes of the classic British gangster film "The Long Good Friday." Great stuff!

I just read an article that said this film would have been better saved with the title "The Shining 2" and I **** title doesn't really capture the story that is told...beautifully made and acted, it has two great set pieces and an ongoing feeling of **** with several other horror films recently, it's longer and less scary than it should be, but a strong film

I interviewed Quentin Tarantino in 1992 at the Cannes Film Festival for "Reservoir **** love of films and Hollywood's history was obvious then, and this "love story" to the last innocent time in Hollywood is a brilliant film. The acting is terrific across the board, and as usual, Quentin takes his time to create a world that is nuanced, colorful and fascinating - and you will see no better Bruce Lee moment in film - a masterpiece that will grow in stature over ****'t read anything about the plot - just go see it

This is a very thought-provoking film. Maggie Gyllenhaal gives a powerful performance, as a woman who is seeking some meaning in her life, and she thinks she finds it in a gifted young Kindergarten student. The young boy who plays this part is also terrific, but this is Gyllenhaal's film all the way and she is compelling from start to finish. "Quite desperation" describe her at the beginning, and "honorably unhinged" she where she ends up. A really good movie.

This is a terrific followup to the first film, continuing to explore the drug and human trafficking at the border. Brolin and Del Toro are great, and it is in NO way slow or boring - a sharp script that really shows what is happening at the border.

I didn't read the book. All of this was fresh to me. And It was great. Emily Blunt was terrific, and the supporting cast gave it an A+ performance. It is a terrific thriller, with strong performances and a twist ending that isn't insulting at all. The people who said it was incomprehensible didn't want to go along with the **** was GREAT

Hugh Grant has virtually disappeared from movie screens, and his return goes direct to on demand. "The Rewrite" is a cute, nice semi-romantic comedy - a film about a man who Hollywood has discarded, and the people he meets in "real" America who still dream of ****. The cast is excellent, with J.K. Simmons, Marisa Tomei and Chris Elliott all delivering nice performances in a movie that is nice, but a good example of why so many films aren't getting a theatrical release any longer...

Ten minutes in, I think this is a brilliant movie. An hour later, I am frustrated by the choices the Director has made; an hour later I wonder why this story was told at all; it seems designed to annoy and frustrate the **** much as I tried to appreciate "The Master", I now feel that the Director is way too focused on style over substance, and the storytelling of "Boogie Nights" is nowhere to be seen. All the more frustrating because I wanted to love this film.

As a huge fan of the original film, I did everything I could to judge Spike Lee's version on its own merits. But he has made an inferior film that simply doesn't work on its own. The story isn't the problem the film doesn't work due to the choices Spike Lee has made. Strange changes in the story serve to call attention to the film's inability to entertain like the original. Samuel L. Jackson. Watch both versions of the film and you will be stunned at Lee's choice to create Jackson's character and storyline. And if you haven't seen the original, you'll certainly wonder why this story was ever told. In addition, the Director has made some choices that didn't work for me at all. In "Annie Hall", having Woody Allen and Tony Roberts watch flashbacks worked; here, to see Josh Brolin watching the action around him it was distracting, and a huge mistake much like the decision to tell this story this way.

As a huge fan of Alexander Payne, this is hard to write. "Nebraska" is NOT "Election" or "Sideways." It's "About Schmidt" but unlike that film, it lacks any reason to care about the characters. There is much to enjoy here, but it is with the smaller characters; unfortunately, Bruce Dern's unpleasant lead performance isn't one of them. He is hurt badly by a script that never let's him show any warmth or compassion to a single person he is with. And his wife in the film is hampered with mean-spirited lines spit out with an unrelenting meanness this is a film that simply doesn't like the people it is portraying. Every old person is mean or vacant; I understand this is a family "trait", but the unpleasantness is unrelenting. It is simply a movie with a sour taste to it and as a fan of Payne, it was crushing to see.

The biggest praise I have for "Captain Phillips" is that it tells a very dramatic true life story in a very honest fashion. It doesn't feel exaggerated the action and drama plays out in a very straightforward manner. Tom Hanks gives a tremendous performance, with enough hints of the Captain's ego to fight off claims he is being canonized in the film. If you see an ad for this film and it appeals to you, then the film will deliver. The acting is terrific, the action sequences tight and exciting, and as usual, Greengrass uses a "documentary feel" to his directing that makes it feel as I said as the beginning honest. And that is a great compliment to everyone involved.

The end of the so-called "Cornetto" trilogy, "The World's End" perfectly mixes humor, sentiment and **** in uniquely different ways. This will be a film where dialogue is repeated verbatim for years to come and it's an outstanding cast: Nick Frost, Simon Pegg of course, plus Eddie Marsan from "Ray Donovan", Martin Freeman and Paddy Considine from the brilliant thriller "Dead Man's Shoes." Here, they all get their time to shine. The movie is like hanging with the funniest yet nicest people you know. The plot is simple: 4 guys are coerced into reliving a night from their youth thanks to Simon Pegg's "Peter Pan." It is his refusal to grow up that drives the narrative, provides most of the laughs, and at various times, creates real sentiment..laugh out loud funny, kudos to all concerned.

This is one of Woody Allen's best films! "Blue Jasmine" continues the Director's fascination with betrayal, deception and infidelity. It also ranks as his best film since "Match Point", and in the upper echelon of all of his work. The performances are, to a person, outstanding. From Cate Blanchett's oscar-worthy lead to a score of smaller roles, it is note perfect throughout. Andrew Dice Clay brings a surprising world-weary subtlety to his part, by far a career best for him. Huge kudos also to Sally Hawkins and especially Bobby Carnavale, who shows a "blue collar rage" unseen in Allen's films before. I'm not discussing the plot because there's no need to give anything away. This is, without a doubt, up there with "Hannah And Her Sisters" and "Crimes & Misdemeanors" as his best serious work.

"Spring Breakers" is in many way a revelation. Harmony Korine has decided to turn away from the pretentious "shock" of earlier films and has created a moody, hypnotic treatise on youth. It evokes Soderbergh's brilliant "The Limey" in structure and tone, and the acting is terrific. The less you know the better, but there is a scene that is as uncomfortable and riveting as "Cape Fear"'s scene with Robert DeNiro and Juliette Lewis. In fact, Franco could be channeling DeNiro's performance, but he is uniquely original as well.

There was a time when "B" movies were meant to fill a couple of hours and entertain the masses...nothing more. Well, "The Call" is just that: a tight, vicious little "B" movie that never let's up and delivers the goods. All of the talent is acting as if it's an "A" drama, which helps keep the suspense level up: nobody is phoning it **** it is an "R" rated thriller, so they are willing to get a bit nasty, which also helps the film, to be honest. A tight, vicious thriller that did the job it was made to do!

"Olympus Has Fallen" was surprisingly effective the effects were excellent, the action non-stop, and the acting strong from all the major players and yes, I was surprised by this! I read a review that trashed the dialogue but it was kind of shooting ducks in a pond, as this movie is "Die Hard In The White House" not "Lincoln." It's a populist action thriller that delivered action and thrills...check your artistic pretensions at the door and take the ride it was fun!

"Side Effects" is an intelligent, thought-provoking thriller for adult audiences the film is beautifully directed and acted, and the focused script keeps the action moving forward with few distractions. It's better NOT to know much about the plot, because the way in which it unfolds is one of the film's pleasures. That said, all four main Actors are excellent, with Jude Law and Rooney Mara outstanding. No knock to current cinema, but in an era of super heroes and vampires, it's nice to have a smart film for adults.

"Bullet To The Head" is entertaining in a mindless way in fact, it's the perfect 80's film bone-crushing violence, action and slightly "past-their-sell-date" one-liners. If this has been released in 1986 it would be #1 at the box office. An entertaining and oddly out of date film that grinds out for an audience that no longer exists.

Tarantino has mastered another category of movie genre: the western. "Django Unchained" joins "The Wild Bunch" and "Unforgiven" as one of the most brilliantly executed homages to the classic western film. The script is big with the western landscape, while managing to be focused and subtle when capturing human emotion. The acting is excellent across all characters, with Jamie Foxx delivering a powerful, nuanced performance as Django. I was surprised with how entertaining the film was throughout the lengthy running time.

Much like "The Impossible", "Beasts" views a natural disaster through the eyes of a small group of people. In that sense, it succeeds brilliantly - it is a film of amazing creativity and inspiration, capturing the lives of a forgotten tribe of people living on the edge of our society. Beautifully acted and expertly directed, "Beasts" is inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time. To criticize the film for its honest portrayal of a small group of people living on the fringe of society just isn't fair.

This is the work of a seasoned, masterful Director leading a cast through a " black as coal" script - and it works perfectly. Matthew McConaughey leads a terrific cast, all of whom commit to everything in the script. Kudos to the entire cast for taking this risk. This is a modern day film noir classic, just be prepared for a film that doesn't flinch.

"The Impossible" was surprisingly effective - it manages to capture what it would be like to actually experience a tsunami - but while those impressive special effects capture the carnage, the Director has also managed to sketch out vivid characters as well. Naomi Watts maintains a focused determination amid the tragedy, while Ewan captures a father a bit more out of control - for reason clear as the story unfolds. Suspenseful and heartbreaking.
