Great game but unfortunately let down by a too tough economy making bullets too expensive and selling an old gun to by a new one was also too expensive. Half the time didn't have enough ammo. The stealth could have used a bit of work as well. The atmosphere saves this game. Still a few minor adjustments and it could have been so much better.

Still in my memory as the best FPS multiplayer of all time. Hugely skill based. One death per round made it count. Still never experienced anything in any game like going on a real heater kill streak in good ol' CS!

If you're looking for something different in a single player FPS, set in a weird but interesting world with tons of character customization possibilities and high replay value- this is it! The story doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense at some points but it really doesn't matter. This is an awesome game!

+ Definitely the best game in the series and one of my favorite multiplayer modes of any FPS to date. - Sold under ten different names since release date. Yeah, they really milked this cash cow!

This is one of my favorite old school single player shooters of all time. Great graphics for it's time that hold up surprisingly well even today. Funny characters. Upgradable/customizable main character. I never laughed so much in a PC game. Loved the stealth mechanic and the crossbow! I keep looking back to see if someone will update the graphics and re-release this one. Hope so! If you haven't played it look for a bargain bin deal somewhere and pick it up. Every shooter fan should play this!

Awesome old school style shooter with fantastic graphics and sick animations. Decent amount of replayability on harder levels. Only slight downside is one level with a bit too much platformey stuff. Besides that this game rocks! If you're an FPS fan, just buy it!

Fun. If you keep it in perspective. + From the start the gameplay is fantastic. It's an action based RPG/MMO so you have to dodge and move about to avoid being hit. Adds a lot more fun than old style MMOs like WOW where you just spam number sequences. + Graphics are pretty decent and scale well on pretty much any reasonably modern machine. - If you didn't start 3+ years ago there is no reason to play past level 69 now. There is no end to the grind for better and better gear. Meaning that some people's level 70 characters are like level 200s compared to your new level 70 and it will take years of grinding or yes literally thousands of dollars to catch up and have a competitive match. Which is too bad because this really wrecks the game for so many people. - Extremely expensive. A little bag space/bank space/ and a decent mount and companion alone can set you back a hundred bucks or more. And most people actively playing endgame literally have the equivalent of thousands of bucks worth of gear. So this is *not* for the casual gamer. Overall: I think its a great and fun game at the lower levels, but bag space is immediately an issue in a loot based game and it's just too extreme/expensive for all but the most devoted players. As an alternative I'd recommend Elder Scrolls Online a game which has come a *very* long ways since release, has better quests, better story, better graphics, and is an off the shelf one time purchase. I bought the gold pack with expansions for 50 bucks with enough content for at least a year's play. Plus they are always adding expansions so next year I'll drop 30 bucks on a few more, and not feel ripped off like in so many so called 'F2P' games.

Well if you saw the score you already know I don't like this game. That's not to say that I don't see any positives or don't think it might be 'ok' for some to buy so please read on before making your decision on my review. First let's start with the Positives: + Really fantastic graphics. + Destructible environments. It's fun to get a sniper out of that house by blowing it to bits with a tank or mortars! + Generally stable servers which will only improve further with some fine tuning. + Innovative battle modes where you push enemy back and another map loads and you play that one in a sort of tug of war which makes the game feel like it has bigger picture consequences. + Despite what some may say, a pretty wide array of weapons considering it's WW1 and IRL each country had only one or two bolt action rifles which 95% of soldiers carried. So they did a good job of 'digging up' extra realism based weapons to include. + A couple decent support roles for those who want to do something besides get kills all the time. Support and Medic can both be very useful to the team. + It fills a gap in an otherwise stale genre. Let's face it COD has been basically the same game for 10 years now with map packs and a few tweaks being sold as new games. And not really much else besides CS which has been the same game for 15+ years. Now the Negatives: - As of game release day 1, the game is absolutely loaded with cheaters. Bring up the chat in any map and just watch a few minutes and you'll see people getting 'banned'. Several per match. Which is quite surprising so early in a game's release cycle. - Cheaters are not permanently banned! Why oh why would the developers make the decision not to invalidate a CD key I have no idea. I've seen several threads on the topic in the official game forums and the devs feel it would be too 'hard' on paying players. Wow! So they're more concerned with the cash flows from the cheaters than from the paying players?! OK! Anyway, someone gets 'banned' and they'll be right back in a matter of minutes. - Guns have no stopping power so only the very last bullet which kills them makes any difference whatsoever to their ability to spaztically run all over, evading your last bullet, and shoot back, greatly favoring twitch reflexes over strategy an tactics. - The most solo unfriendly shooter in history. No FF (Friendly Fire) means mic'd up squads of move in one 'mass' and throw out enough lead to mow down any player in their way. As a solo player, you'll be faced 1v5 most every time you see the enemy (though you do have the option to sit back and play sniper). And arguably this does provide some real value to players who like to buddy up. - Overall the guns are just 'weird' compared to any other shooter. The closest I can compare it to is Planetside which also doesn't feel like a 'real' shooter if classic play style is your preference. Personally I found all the guns except the sniper rifles just lacked an 'oomf', and had no sense of real power or damage when hitting. - Sound. Though the sounds are generally pretty good. It takes an extremely expensive or extremely loud sound system to be able to hear footsteps. Some say its OK, others have the same complaint. Really depends on your system and config. With my headphones I can't hear a damn thing until the very last step which doesn't matter anyway because you're already knifed. Overall: I think the game does a lot right. But more cheaters than I've seen in any FPS getting kicked from literally every match, an extreme unfriendliness to solo players, weak feeling guns with no sense of impact, and way too silent footsteps which means more knife deaths from behind than you can count all conspire to bring down what could otherwise be a great game. If the developers change their stance on permanently banning cheaters I might have another look. Until then, I'll pass.

My background: Thousands of hours playing virtually every flight game ever made. USNF, Falcon 4.0, IL2, etc, RPGs, FPS, MMOs. OVERALL I SAY THE GAME **** BECAUSE: 1. Totally Anti-American. 2. Totally Russian propaganda. 3. STEAM censors posts for $$. 4. No diversity. Only a handful of massively overpowered planes that EVERYBODY plays. Soon boring... 5. No sense of being part of a bigger battle or any importance whatsoever to what you're doing. 6. Teamplay. What team play? You'll truly learn to hate your teamates. 7. Unlocks and level ups are a rainbow chase with a pile of poo at the end. 8. Matchmaking system designed to favor Russian planes and Russian IP Addresses. If you see a player with 1.3 BR higher than everyone else, 90% of the time he is either a) playing Russian planes, or b) his name is Yuri or Aleks or Rus11223 or something- you’ll get the point just play and see… First things first- the Russian developers of this game are totally anti-American. They screw USA in every way possible. Seriously, their treatment of American planes is nothing short of propaganda. Yes you CAN do well in USA planes, maybe get 3 kills per round, but if that's your skill level, you'll get 9+ kills per round in anything else. The game is designed to favor Russian dogfighting and NOT Boom n Zoom (USA). BnZ gets punished by lower Activity scores (which is HUGE), silly stupid hit to kill ratios like 10:1, where other planes get 2:1 hits per kill. One game recently as USA I got 47 hits and ZERO kills. And that kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME. ITS JUST STUPID HOW THEY SKEW THIS GAME TO FAVOR RUSSIA AND SCREW USA. And BTW, while you're 'Zooming', dogfighters are stealing your every kill. Kills BTW get ALL the points. So you really don't get crap playing USA in this game and the Russian developers like it that way. Yes, you CAN play USA well, but no matter what your skill level, you'll get 10x the points with ANY OTHER NATION. WORSE The developers at Gaijin are TOTALLY fascist. In the forums they've locked and deleted literally THOUSANDS of threads complaining about stupidly negative treatment of USA, and block users from posting if they ever said anything even remotely critical of the game. DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! YOU'RE ONLY SUPPORTING FASCISM AND CENSORSHIP! YES, REALLY. I suggest you just play the game for FREE, take their resources(karma!), and learn FOR FREE what the community is like (CRAP) seriously the worst MMO environment ever. You will learn to totally hate your teamates as they are NEVER there to help you out when your smoking with an enemy on your tail, they'll just fly away, but if you have an enemy on fire, your entire team will INSTANTLY DROP EVERYTHING to put the last bullet in and steal your kill. Yeah. It's like that. And the Russian developers like it that way. Say anything about adjusting the points rewards system to favor teamwork and your post will be deleted and you'll be banned permanently. BTW, THERE IS NO CONTENT AVAILABLE THAT IS WORTH PAYING FOR. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PLAY RUSSIA AND YOU AUTOMATICALLY WIN. The very first Yak 1 has a 20mm gun, which is like a 500mm nuclear death star ray or something. The difference between 50 cals (12.7 mm mgs used by USA) and 20mm canon (used by Russia) is so TOTALLY EXAGGERATED, simply to favor Russia- to an absolutely stupid degree. Russian guns of equal caliber are more powerful, and win every head-on, their planes don't catch fire, they have massive hit point buffs and resistance to crits, they win EVERY collision ramming conflict and use it as a cheap shot easy win. If you want to win, just play Russian Laggs = auto win. Or German 190s, or Spitfires (if you want some variety), JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE. BUT DON'T BE SO STUPID TO ACTUALLY PAY THEM MONEY FOR CRAP THAT DOESN'T HELP ANYWAY. Lagg/Spit/190 = auto win, and they're FREE. So basically EVERYONE is playing the same 3-5 planes = BORING. Oh yeah- anyone who tells you it's more balanced in RB is full of crap BC nobody plays RB, everyone plays Arcade = faster points/unlocks, more action, no 20 minute waits just to get instantly critd and game over no points, by players with every exploit mastered with thousands of hours gameplay. In Arcade which you WILL play 99% of the time JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE, the three planes noted are so massively superior its silly. AGAIN, DON'T BUY ANYTHING. Don't give em your money just to chase higher levels and jet unlocks. THE LOWEST LEVELS ARE THE MOST FUN ANYWAY!!! Everyone who unlocks the later game jets agrees the gameplay is no fun. So you gave em all your money, just to unlock planes that are really just a disappointment. When you could have just played the very first level Yak 1 with a BR 2.0 and AUTO WIN. Play the fist Yak, Lagg, 109, or 190, or Spitfire and automatically win. And you can learn all this very soon, and FOR FREE. MOST IMPORTANT DO NOT SUPPORT THE PROPEGANDA AND CENSORSHIP BEHAVIOUR OF FASCIST GAIJIN DEVELOPERS.
