Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate4

Good lord, this game is a real mess. I've never played any MH games but I've heard nothing but praise for this game and after playing, I really don't see why. The game is mostly about fighting big, impressive looking boss monsters that require skill to beat. While the idea is nice in theory, it fails horrible in execution. Gameplay and animations are very slow, and stiff which makes the game feel dated. Half of the weapons in the game are very tedious to use in single player due to very low attack power which means these weapons aren't very good unless you're playing multiplayer. There are always time limits when fighting boss monsters which is stupid considering how killing them can often take up to 30 minutes or a hour. It doesn't matter how close you were to killing that boss, if you can't do it within the time limit, you'll have to waste another hour trying again. Sometimes bosses can feel cheap, like constantly stunning you for 5 minutes. Underwater combat is terrible and makes fights drag on for too long. Sometimes you're forced to fight huge monsters in very small areas which makes dodging near impossible at times. The reason why people say they get so many hours out of this game is because you're forced to fight the same monsters over and over to craft weapons and gear. You also have to collect materials to craft things like potions and other items. The boss fighting and material collecting wouldn't be so bad is it weren't literally the only things you do in the game. There is no story, no interesting characters, no big open world to explore, no interesting combat system, no skills to learn. It's a constant grind for more weapons and items with slow, tedious animations and punishing gameplay. It feels a lot like a generic mmo, except slightly more exciting.

With all the positive reviews this game received I thought it might be a decent game but it seems to fall flat. There are some good things, the main thing that caught my eye was the nice, colorful graphics though the characters themselves don't look as good. I thought the gameplay might be interesting as well, being an action rpg mixed with tower defense but as other reviews have said, it is overly simplistic and lacks any real depth. When u first play u'll notice u can make 5 different defenses, though u have to level up to unlock them. At first I thought, ok 5 different towers but surely that can't be for the whole game right? since in this game u can get to near lvl100. So due to my curiousity, I checked out a lvl90 gameplay video just to see if things are any different at high levels but it just looked like the same thing. Your heroes only get 2 skills and 5 towers for the entire game so that should tell u something. Trying to play online was sometimes annoying due to the fact that people would kick me for no reason at all. So overall, I wouldn't recommend this game, I hoped it would get better the more I played it but all those hopes were out the window because of the lack on content in gameplay.

I'm surprised by all the good reviews since this game is pretty bare bones and not up to par with other games of the same genre. There is only one game mode and single player is absolutely out of the question (unless you play on easy mode) since you'll get swarmed and killed quickly. The game can be fun at times but the repetitiveness bogs the game down a lot. At first when I visited the in game weapon shop I thought there were a lot of choices but once I started using more guns, I realized I didn't like some of them and that I'd often stick to one or two certain guns depending on my class. I also thought at some point even more weapons would be available in the shop but I couldn't have been more wrong and it all just resorts in using the same guns all the time, playing the same mode, killing the same zombies, over and over again. There are also classes but this doesn't really help the game much and there aren't really any worthwhile perks to them except for spawning with armor or maybe a gun but other than that, leveling up perks just increases the amount of damage you do overall. So the lack of game modes (I'll remind you there is only one), repetition and lack of any real depth is what kills an otherwise somewhat enjoyable game.

Horrible game, it's just another point and click grindfest, nothing that hasn't been done billions of times before by other games. I played this game for a long while and had to resort to botting to get anything in the game and just to level up.

Dynasty Warriors Online5

First of all, I'd like to second all the negative reviews about this game because it's all absolutely true. Yes, the game does play like the other Dynasty Warriors games but the battles usually leave something to be desired. There is no main general, you'll get the same cpu allies everytime(if you're solo farming)with a real general ''maybe'' popping up every now and then if their side is losing the battle but the few times I've actually seen this they've come when the battle is just about over, some have come when there is literally only 5 to 10 seconds left in the battle. The modes there are all pretty much about either base capturing, killing a certain amount of enemies, or certain amount of generals and there's just not much strategy at all in this game. The quests in this game are also a joke, there are a few that are pretty easy and it's good that quests are repeatable but there are some quests that you won't be able to do or get a good grade on without the help of some sort of guide, and I'm just talking about some of the newbie quests, I can't imagine how the higher ranked ones would be. Also quests are never fun in this game, or they don't feel like it at least, every time I did a quest I just wanted to get it over with and I don't think I've ever felt that way in a Dynasty Warriors game. Reason being is that the quests range from, destroying towers in a base(which is very boring btw)to having to kill multiple bandits with super armor, meaning that they don't flinch from your attacks and they can also kill u in about 3 hits, are you serious...? And if that wasn't bad enough, they do have quests where you can play with others but with most they are solo only quests... why? This is an mmo, you shouldn't ''have'' to do quests solo, especially if some are near impossible. I heard on the forums that this game was all just about pvp anyway and that a lot of the lower ranked players were just alts of veteran players. I don't know about anyone else but I think a game should try to be solid in every area it can, not just pvp. There are a few good things about the game though, like being able to customize your characters looks, use many different weapons and there is also crafting but in order to do it you'll need a great deal of patience since it requires a lot of farming. You can also get lieutenants which can range from humans to animals but this also requires farming and the chances of finding them are increased if there are more players but this also means that one of the other players could get the lieutenant. The game could've been good but it's just so watered down and doesn't feel like a real Dynasty Warriors game because all they focused on is pvp and pvp alone.

LoL was my first real experience of the MOBA genre and recommended to me by someone I know. I had heard this game was ''supposedly'' more newbie friendly than other MOBA games, such as Dota. I've never really played Dota so I can't compare it to that but for someone totally new to this genre, there are some definite problems I realized. There's a real problem when you're level 1-5 and your team is getting dominated by characters with 20+ kills, it doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it ruins the game every time unless you have a character on your team with the same amount of kills but this should not be happening at all at low levels. So the match making seems quite iffy and sometimes the people playing are terrible, I don't mean skill wise since I'd rather have that rather than rude and hateful people. They also threaten to report you for ridiculous reasons, such as being afk, disconnecting, etc. etc. I disconnected one time only to come back with someone saying they reported me, even though we had just started the match and I wasn't long but they reported me for something that was totally out of my control. Are you kidding...? They will also threaten to report you for just doing badly, so to play pvp in this game is a lot of stress and pressure, even more for a newbie. There are a lot of champions but some are more boring or underpowered to use than others and some are overplayed (Caitlyn comes to mind...). There are some definite balance issues though, and as others have surely said, some Champions that outclass others, if they weren't, they wouldn't be reworking some of them. There is lag at times and sometimes when there are a lot of players on at once, you may have to wait to be able to login anywhere from a few minutes to possibly an hour or longer. Another thing that I assume is in all the other MOBA games too is the ability to be able to ''unlock'' your camera which lets you look around more freely on the map and is not stuck to your character. When I first saw this in the tutorial, I thought this was simply a choice of how to play, little did I know how wrong that really was. It's pretty much essential to unlock your camera if you wanna do well at all since if you don't, everyone else surely is which gives them a clear advantage over players that don't since they can ambush and kill you. In every game play video I've ever seen of someone playing this game, they play the exact same way, unlocked camera, rapidly clicking around and if you don't play that way, then you're playing wrong and you'll never really be good at the game, so the ''choice'' of having your camera is extremely deceptive, I chose not to play with my cam unlocked because I wasn't comfortable with it at all but you will definitely be penalized for choosing comfort over what everyone else is doing. So from what I can tell, this isn't really the greatest game for newbies to the genre and maybe the genre as a whole only caters to ''hardcore'' players that have already experienced many other MOBA style games before. It's a shame because it can be kinda fun at times(when the teams are more balanced and you aren't getting steamrolled)and addicting but the nature of this game and games of this genre in general may push a lot of new players or many others away.

Pretty decent graphics, I was surprised it even ran on my laptop. Action oriented gameplay is also a big plus( no auto attacking here). The bad things might outweigh the good things though, but the question is if you can overlook those bad things. First off there are ''gender locked'' which **** to me because I couldn't even make a badass male mage, necromancer, or you can't make a big brutish female, no female archer and no male with a sword and shield. Instead I ended up with a female mage who didn't seem cool at all and thanks to the fact the female characters kinda seem to have ''baby'' faces who are care more about being trendy than being a badass and the male dual swordsman reminds me Justin Bieber for God's sake, so hands down the coolest looking ones are the brute and the archer. You can customize their appearance but you can't really make them look much different from how they look before you chose them. There are also avatars in this game though most of these seem more affordable than in DFO, they also have stats on them and they go by level. Though chances are, you'll end up picking the ones that give you the best stats and there really aren't too many avatars from level to level anyway, so there's really not too much variety with that. Also the only way you can change your hair (except from the beginning) is to pay real money and I don't think they're even permanent... which means alot if you care about good character customization like I do. The combat somewhat redeems the lackluster appearance character customization though, since it's fast paced and action oriented without seeming to be ''too fast'' and the boss battles can really get your blood pumping, though after awhile the bosses seem more ''predictable'' and like it's mostly about hit and run tactics. You can also interact with the environment, picking up objects and hitting/throwing them at enemies but I felt little reason to do so since it seems like you really only need to to complete certain quests or to get titles, though you can also sometimes get items or gold sometimes but it's not much plus the objects don't really do any more damage than your weapon would do so you're better off just using your weapon, though can be kinda funny to use random objects on enemies. I also wish it weren't an ''instanced dungeons'' type of game since it does get boring if you do decide to solo.

Dungeon Fighter Online6

This is an ok game. At first it'll be pretty interesting and fun, though after awhile it starts getting dull, doing the same moves and dungeons over and over. though the game tries to trick you into thinking there's alot of variety with the all the different subclasses and there is, to an extent. There are four subclasses per character (excluding thief male mage which only have 2) but once you pick a subclass, you're that subclass and nothing else, there are no separate ''skill trees'' to choose from or anything like that. And there really isn't a ton of moves/skills either, I'd say only around 2 or 3 per every five levels which really isn't much and there is a ton of room for variety besides just choosing which skills to max out. Though the game can also be fun, it gets boring very fast playing alone so you better make sure you have someone to play with. This game isn't quite as grindy as other MMOs but the bad thing is that once you hit level 70, you're done, there's nothing else to do (except pvp or making a new character) because you've hit the level cap. I've made tons of new characters to try out other classes or simply because I became bored with the class I was using before. There are also avatars in the game which actually change your characters appearance but these require millions of gold and it's frustrating when the market goes from selling avatars at 1m-2m to 2m-10. You also may have a very hard time picking decent looking avatars (though I mean this mainly for female fighter since alot of her's are atrocious). This isn't a bad game but it's not without it's flaws, some glaring and some not so glaring.
