I have absolutely no idea what is going on in peoples minds, Alone in the Dark (2024) is a wonderful adaptation in the AITD series. Especially so, considering the last few entries have been abysmal. This game is a love letter to one of the very first inspirational survival horror video games. The atmosphere is very rich in detail, the characterisation superb and audio is among the best I’ve ever heard in a video game, extremely suspenseful and chilling. The developers have really captured 1930s southern United States. And this is why I wonder what’s going on in peoples heads considering the low scores. I think gamers need to give AITD a chance, and is my belief they too will fall in love with one of the best mystery/horror video games of the year, if not the coming decade.

What a game! Since release I approximate that I have spent at least six hours a day playing starfield. That’s quite unusual for me considering I have a busy schedule and just cannot understand why the user score is so low. Don’t get me wrong, each to their own, but the game has something for everyone. At least everyone who loves Bethesda RPG’s. Be it character customisation, weapon development, exploration or story, and the production values are very high. Look, I can understand if some people who are used to “playing on rails“ are disappointed that everything is not laid out for them and they might have to draw their own maps or ‘dig deep’ to climb that learning curve. But hey, that’s part and parcel of RPG gaming.

Oh, what a let down, another game which puts graphics over gameplay. What was once a fantastic video game series has become a shadow of its former self. Sure, the atmospherics were great combining soundtrack with the environment but gameplay is king and that’s wherein the problem lies. Why is it that more and more games are relying on graphics to disguise the lack of quality gameplay ? Further, let’s not forget the combat engine which is truly abysmal especially when you consider combat mechanics such as the Demon souls series for example.Without a doubt, the resident evil developers are stuck in the past and not in a good way yet demand a whopping £70 a pop…….
