Throwing away the fact that the game crashes quite a bit for me, this game is great. Its high difficulty and Mirror’s Edge like parkour makes this one of my favorite games this year. The story itself is pretty predictable but that’s the only complain I have. The gameplay loop keeps you on your toes as they add new enemies every few levels and you’ll need to learn how they work on your own. It’s soundtrack is great for keeping the mood, the pacing is always fast, the one shot kill/death mechanic makes for satisfying plays and strategic gameplay. I definitely recommend this game.

NieR: Automata - Game of the YoRHa Edition9

This game is absolutely insane. The all in all package is even more great. I can’t write a full review without going into too much detail and wasting everyone’s time. All I can say is, I can’t recommend this game enough.

Death end re;Quest7
Sep 1, 2020
I want to give this game an 8 but I really can’t. Its a typical JRPG with multiple twists, but even those twists got stale. I really like the idea of switching genres from the usual turn based action, but it kinda fell off from what I thought it would be when I read the description for the game. Battles got kinda quick and boring after like a few chapters in considering I got multiple skills that could one shot enemies. It becomes a flow at some point with easy xp and just a temporary stop to the exploration that got really repetitive. Then, the skill gain system gets extremely tedious at some point, especially with achievements considering that finding combinations of skills to preform the flash drive with gets nigh impossible later in game. Then you have the dungeons, they end up becoming a “find the key to open a door” trope that I don’t like. They can end up being in corners you ran past multiple times but didn’t see it because they blended in so well that even perfect vision can’t spot it. Then you have times where you can’t open a door or get past a barricade until an event (technically a VN section or boss battle) is completed or you switch to reality to solve something in the real world, which you almost never realize until you have to pause for a break. All in all, this game would’ve probably been so much better as a Visual Novel instead. Now with the criticisms out of the way, lets get to the praise that earned this 7 in the first place. I never heard of a JRPG that allowed you to make it something else entirely in battle. Then the flash drive system is possibly one of the unique ways I’ve ever seen you could get a skill. The switch between reality and the game function is a great way to tell different perspectives. The soundtrack makes me wonder why people haven’t compared it to NieR Automata and Persona 5. The story makes me wonder why I stream this game because I have to cliffhang so much when the game has me captivated. The death end system can seem repetitive, but not only is it useful for getting items exclusive to that, it makes almost every choice seem so dreadful that you really have anxiety when you can’t save at a choice. The characters are great and when you learn the truth behind multiple characters (whether they are good, evil or aren’t what you thought) it can leave your mouth wide open. PLOT TWISTS ACTUALLY FEEL LIKE PLOT TWISTS! Did I mention the soundtrack? Caligula Syndrome hits different. The death ends can actually disturb you, and thats a good thing. The voice acting, both English and Japanese are absolutely great, but I love how the characters feel so alive in the English dub. All in all, not only is this game one of the best JRPGs I’ve ever played, I was questioning reality by the time I got off, and I haven’t even beaten the game yet.

Steins;Gate Elite7

Steins;Gate Elite is the anime of visual novels (quite literally) if the original is the manga. This version leaves quite a bit of stuff out unlike the OG. Not that its a bad thing, but it feels better to watch the anime unless you wanna see the different endings. Now all this I said, doesn’t mean its bad. Its still the same masterpiece it is, but in anime format. The anime is one of the best I’ve watched and will always stick with me. But this VN lacks what made the OG great. I still recommend it if you wanna play S;G and don’t have a pc. But if you do have one, I’d recommend getting S;G over Elite.

I’ve never been more conflicted on whether or not to rate a game a 10/10 or not. If The Amazing Spider Man 2 isn’t the best Spider-Man game I’ve played, this is.

I know there are gonna be fanboys of this game who despise me because of this. But let me tell you, I did not like this game. I didn’t exactly hate it, but I can tell you right now, this game ruined the first for me. As much as I want to diss this game, I have almost no time on my hands, so I’m gonna make it really short. This game’s story absolutely ****. Its not what the first game was. Instead of following a relationship that set the story, it feels like I’m watching a movie, which is not good. Its like the characters read a script and acted out their roles perfectly. The game’s ending hurt even more since not only did I hate Ellie by the end of it, it was the equivalent of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst’s ending, where you technically didn’t accomplish **** I know the message is revenge is bad, but that’s a damn lie. I never had any consequences when I seeked revenge, and I always got my revenge, so Ellie ain’t **** compared to me (I like to make jokes.) Now, can we talk about how the game tried to push an agenda? I don’t play games to be taught a lesson or have something pushed to me, I play to have fun (or I guess not fun, but engaging since Naughty Dog banned the word fun) but this wasn’t fun at all. I don’t care if its story driven, I just want a good time, and this game just left me wondering if Naughty Dog would ever come back from it.

Ghost of Tsushima8
Aug 27, 2020
I decided to make this game my first review on metacritic. Now, people may hate me for the fact I didn’t give this game a perfect 10/10, and I get that. This may be one of the best games of this generation. That’s not to say, it didn’t have problems. Since I hate going in depth, les I go too in depth, I’ll keep it short and sweet. This game is amazing, the graphics had me going in photo mode every 5 minutes, the game is smooth running even on my PS4 I’ve had for 4 years, the combat is fluid and never got boring and the story was a banger. Now, lets get to the cons. The side activities (not the side missions) got really repetitive after a few hours. I never thought I could hate chasing something after a few hours, but I do now. The enemy tracking is **** ridiculous, you could be on the other side of Tsushima and some dude could glide towards you at mach 5 speed. THERE ARE TRAILING MISSIONS IN THIS GAME, that’s a sin on its own. Finally, the camera made me just want to turn off the game. That **** has died from 15 seizures and 21 strokes, just to revive and do it all over again. Its worse than Gravity Rush 2’s camera. Despite all those flaws, I think the game is fantastic, and the PS4 gets to bow out of this generation in a successful way.
