I mostly play survival games and winter is my favourite theme and aesthetic. Well, I suspect the "cozy" label here is meant to disguise a shallow, bland and boring game.

I think SoD2 is pretty bad if you take it seriously. For each thing it does right, it does three wrong. The game is extremely unpolished, broken in many ways, ugly (not in a graphic sense, but for the many cheap mechanics that features). I guess the developer team just had the idea, but there was never a real direction about what they want to do with said idea. That's what it seems to me.

Good atmosphere. Horrendous scripted game-play. One of the worst AI I ever seen in a video game. Stealth is unbalanced and broken. Enemy animations are horrible. Artificial difficult.

The Long Dark is poorly balanced. It claims to be realistic and, in the end, manages to be realistic but in a surreal way. Everything that have to do with wildlife is horrendous. HORRENDOUS: animations, behavior patterns, hit-boxes, A.I... Hunting is horrible; deers can climb rocks and mountains, but your are unable to jump even 15 cm. Then we have the sprains thing, trying to chase the said deer. Ridiculously unbalanced. Bad weather become just common and annoying after a short time and the game turns really boring. The story mode is a fetch quests explosion; I would rather liked something similar to Subnautica, where you have to reach some place with no one telling you what to do all the time. The emotional texture overall and some map layouts are great, but that's all about it.
