One of The Spanish Princess’ greatest achievements is making Catherine’s journey to England and her early days with Arthur in the Tudor court one that feels intimate and personal in scope. ... The Spanish Princess wonderfully makes us want to follow her wherever she leads.

Charlotte Hope is excellent as the headstrong Princess Catherine, but Harriet Walter's portrayal as Her Lady the King's Mother is extraordinary.

If you can push yourself through some laughable feminist-baiting scenes, such Catherine's attempt appeal to Prince Harry's innate brutality with an outlandish seduction-by-swordplay tête-à-tête, or the tedious, shoehorned romance between star-crossed attendants Lina and Oviedo, you'll find a worthy story about a sly young woman trying to marry her duty and her desire

Sadly, I also came away from the first four episodes of The Spanish Princess with the sense that its hats have been crafted with more care than its characters. A few of them do spring to life with more persuasive detail than the others. ... Try as it might, it can’t help slipping back into the story we already know, and although the result is still entertaining, it’s also less original than I might’ve hoped.

It’s hard to imagine anyone outside the core constituency for royals and the games they play finding much of interest in “The Spanish Princess”: Baroque in its attention to detail, but telling its version of history strictly for the fandom.

Props to the props department, as well as everyone else designing sets, handling makeup, or crafting wardrobe, but those fundamental elements of a good period drama are the only real reason to spend eight hours with this dull trip back in time.

Total let down casting terrible a English woman plays the Spanish princess I guess "all" the Spanish actresses were busy. Lazy writing 8 episodes really average for a hit show 20 to 24 no one want to watch a show for a few weeks then wait a year lazy and cheap. Another show that will go 3 maybe 4 season get cancelled because of bad ratings and end up something you binge when you are bored.

She’s more believable inlove with sadistic Game of Thrones actor Ramsay Bolton than her portrayal. Badly cast and absolutely boring, mushy script. Plus she speaks the least amount of Spanish, has a horrible Spanish accent and it’s entitled “The SPANISH Princess!” It’s historical fiction so I won’t even bother with the historical inaccuracies, but at least keep at least within setting! Production and costumes are great. Sets are great, with fan service showcase of the Alhambra and Real Alcazar even though the residence of Isabella and Ferdinand is Toledo. I can’t see how I can sympathize with Catherine when she’s so whiny the whole time.
