The first four episodes of this new season are among the series’ best.... Network trauma dramas come and go--and with them a lot of serious doctors and nurses and miserable patients--but rarely do we see a show that understands life in a hospital as well as Getting On did.

One of my favorites. If you view life as a beautiful journey full of wonder and mystery, Getting On is not for you. The doctors and nurses are rarely heroic and the patients are not always likable. There is no mystery in a neglected extended-care unit filled with sick and dying people. But there are moments of hilarious comedy genius balanced with heartwarming moments and a dynamite cast. I found it to be a meticulously crafted satire, much of which can be easily overlooked if you’re not paying attention. Every detail is perfection. Every character is fully formed. Nothing is left unfinished. I can watch it over and over and still fully enjoy it. The original British version is as well crafted and excellent. I highly recommend both.
