Duckman

Fantastic writing and animation from the same production company that gave us the earliest Simpsons seasons, but unfortunately Duckman is so inherently cynical to a point that after several seasons of a character that is constantly reinforced with new ways of making him an irredeemable piece of ****, whatever fun or value behind the character is sapped away. The writers seemed to want to continually push the protagonist away from the viewer- the entire show is about Duckman and how he views the world. There is no character arc, no redemption, only endless, unrelenting pessimism with the goofy cartoon elements and socio-political commentary just barely saving what was otherwise a criminally unpopular show of its time. The Simpsons undoubtedly succeeded where this show failed, and Duckman is just shy of that same iconic status it could have equally deserved.
